There were a lot of SICK people on the cruise-we all ended up with the same cough!

My wife is now on a double antibiotic and an inhaler!

Cancelled all mainland shore excursions because it wasn't worth Carnival's investment by Meanderyouander

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first and last Carnival cruise for one primarly reason: they seem to forget that most people book cruises to a specific location because they actually want to go to that location.  Our ports of call were Grand Cayman and Cozumel.  The night before one our pre-paid, pre-planned shore excursion booked through Carnival from Cozumel island to mainland Yukatan Peninsula, we were advised all mainland excursions were cancelled because they only had 70 of the 80 needed people to sign up for mainland excursions.  I've never been there before and didn't feel confident to make the connections myself but that was a central part of my vacation plan.  I would have understood if they cancelled because of weather or mechanical issues.  But I don't understand why they would rather dissapoint 70 people who pre-paid and planned on that part of their trip instead of trying to make it right for those paying customers.  There are too many other cruise lines out there that go to this port.  Next time I'll pick one of the others.  Service on the ship was okay, not exceptional and there was no control over the chair hoggers that save lounge chairs on the decks.  The food and service at the main dining room was quite good but the buffet was generally limited choices and usually not kept well heated.  The only shows I saw were Justin Illusion (good dance routines but illusions weren't anything jaw-dropping) and Jazz Hot (I found this to be a waste of time as the singers only briefly  touched on actual Jazz music - since when is "It's Raining Men" a Jazz song?). There really wan't much variety in the crew led activities on board unless you want to play trivia.  It would have been nice if they actually had some sort of nature or educational lectures based on the region.

Legend a hit by Astrochaser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean

Great ship Happy crew....Carnival is  a great value if your looking for relaxation and fun.... Dining room food was great... Buffet on Lido so so but a few times shined..

The ship is nicely sized , no lines except at a few times at anytime dining but it moved quickly...

Our entertainment was really good especially Edd Carr.. nightly in the lounges and he also did a show with the band that rocked......don't miss him

Justin Illusion show was the top show on the ship....

All and all a great vacation....We made a lot of friends on the ship crew as well...

I have to end with the Art room.... The best at sea... Lots of fun.

If you dont mind  having to get your own coffee in Lido.  Then catch this ship...Great

Carnival Legend London to New York 15 days by ncccruises4me

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Transatlantic

Ports were wonderful.  Cabin steward service great.  Food was absolutely HORRIBLE.  Many, many passengers complaining.  Poor quality meats, totally bland desserts, etc.  Service in dining room not great, either.  For this reason I would NOT cruise on Carnival again.  Also, the cruise director seemed uninformed about many details of ports.  He (John) needs to update himself on much of the information he dispenses as MANY details were wrong.  I'm talking about prices, monetary units accepted in ports, methods of transportation to get into cities from the ports, etc.  You could not really depend on anything he said!!   Very confusing to passengers.  It seemed like John and his co-director, Calvyn, were more intent on being funny than accurate.

I only went on Carnival for the unusual itinerary, not sure if I would do it again. by zonzon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Transatlantic

I went knowing Carnival was not really the line for me, but I loved the itinerary.  I might go on Carnival again for an itinerary like this, but nothing less.  15 night-London/Dover, Dublin, Greenock (for Glasgow), Belfast, Reykjavik-Iceland, Q-town (cant spell it)-Greenland, (Plus we saw the northern lights and did an extra fjord cruise), St Johns-Newfoundland and New York City.  Enjoyed all the ports.  Not much point going to Greenland as we could only tender to a small village and could not tour beyond the village...but still a country I did not expect to have on my bucket list (or Iceland).  I think Carnival should have made it clear that we were not going to see anything of Greenland. Ships public room decor is just plain garish, pattern after pattern, color after color, and and so many blinking lights and reflections all in one room.  Dancing and singing in dining room is embarrassing and infantile. Why would anyone think I would like a waiter waggling his napkin stuffed chest or his buttocks in my face. You can only avoid it by not eating in the dining room.  Virtually no info given for ports and transportation.  No excuse for this.  I could have put together a map and highlights off the internet.  Whoever checked out these ports to make the itinerary for the cruise could have done it.  As a passenger I am offended to be treated so poorly.  Entertainment was poorly done and boring. Poor lecturer.  Library tiny and rarely open. Days at sea had almost no activities.  I was amazed at the dress of the passengers.  No country club casual here.  Mostly faded old jeans and t-shirts-even in the dining room.  Lots of negatives for me, but doubt I am the typical Carnival passenger.  I was pleasantly surprised by the food in the dining room (especially the excellent soups) and the Lido.  Although the food in the Lido at night was poor (very few choices and not fresh).  You already know that I loathe the exhibitionistic dancing and singing in the dining room.  I hate karaoke, but it is suprerior to the antics in the dining room, which interrupt a pleasant adult dinner.  Considering the garish decor in the public rooms our balcony cabin was orange and wood but thank god restrained.  Smallest balcony I have ever had.  Barely room for 2 sit up chairs and a tiny table.  Mini bar gives off quite a bit of heat, made it hard to keep the room from being way too hot, even with the balcony door propped open.  All the service staff were great, considering they didnt have much to work with.  The cruise director talked and talked and talked, rarely giving any information and hosted with the assistant cruise director a morning show where they insulted each other, used innuendos, and hit each other.  Should have been a time to share info about the ports, things going on the the ship.  It was too unpleasant to watch.

If Carnival had another great itinerary I might do it again, but really prefer the atmosphere, amenities, and attitude on Princess, Celebrity or Holland America.

BRITISH ISLES CRUISE by AVIDTRAVELLERS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

ITINERARY WAS OUR MAIN REASON FOR CHOOSING THIS CRUISE & IT WS VERY GOOD - YOU GET A GOOD FLAVOUR OF ENGLAND, IRELAND & SCOTLAND. TOURS BOOKED THROUGH CARNIVAL WERE GOOD.

NORWAY WAS BEAUTIFUL & THE COAST OF FRANCE (NORMANDY) VERY ENJOYABLE.

THE CARNIVAL LEGEND IS OVERDUE FOR AN UPDATE & HOPEFULLY WHEN IT IS COMPLETE THE SHIP WILL NOT BE QUITE AS GARISHLY DECORATED AS IT IS PRESENTLY. STAFF WERE WONDERFUL - ATTENTIVE & PLEASANT. THE FOOD WAS HO HUM - NOT THE STANDARD WE HAVE ENJOYED ON PREVIOUS CARNIVAL CRUISES. MANY WE SPOKE TO FELT THE SAME & LACK OF VARIETY WAS THE MAIN COMPLAINT.

Once in a life time cruise by mlny66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I enjoyed everything about this cruise except the rain and no one could help that. Everyone on the ship was very nice, Mario the head waiter was exceptional, great. Alien was great also and got a promotion while we were there, which he deserved. Maxium the cabin steward kept our cabin 5185 in tip top shape.

Highly Recommended by lmb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This cruise exceeded our expectations. The food was great. Entertainment very good and Carnival's orchestra was outstanding. We did not use any of Carnival's tours as they are way over priced. On our own we saw everything in all the ports and saved ourselves hundreds of dollars.

Baltic by Ferg6909777

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Cities we visited were wonderful . Overall the legend was a disappointment. On carnival we have been on the valor and it was great. Entertainment on the Legendbelow average. Food in truffles and lido average at best . Steakhouse outstanding. Overall ship condition and cleanliness lacking. There was little attention to detail. I never once saw anyone cleaning or polishing as I have on other cruises and it showed. The boat looked shabby. We had a problem with ground transportation from London to Dover. We tried to resolve it thru guest services on the boat but to no avail. Carnival did not stand behind this service they sponsored . Our booking agent from cruises only, Sherry Creasey was just fabulous !!! Recommend using her!!!!

12 Night Baltic Wonder & St Petersburg by Carnivallover1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We chose this cruise because we love sailing with Carnival and they were offering the Baltic an especially St Petersburg, Russia which was 1 of the things to do on our bucket list. Well it was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. The palaces and churches was beautiful. We did Carnival's 2 day Grand Tour excursion and were not disappointed. Our guide Natasha was the best. The other places: Copenhagen, Germany, Helsinki, Tallinn Estonia, Amsterdam were also very good and we enjoyed every one of them. Carnival is a very relaxed cruise line and we always feel welcomed there. The evening shows were all very professional and the Legend still has a orchestra which helps to enhance the dancers. I would highly recommend this cruise for anyone interested in the ports, they were well worth the money.

a very good experience by bradb22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The ship's condidtion was excellent. Main dining room waiter was poor. Room was excellent, clean and comfortable. the cabin attendent was exceptional. overall food was very good. A wider selection of food choices for main dining than some of the other lines I've been on (NCL and Princess). entertainment was average to above average. a lot of activities on board without it being overwhelmingly crowded. Pools were fine. Adult relaxation area was fine and they don't chare extra like Princess does. Soda was from a can so it didn't have the "bar" after taste like RCCL has. the itenerary was excellent but the cost of the organized excursions were VERY steep in several ports.

Cruise [Carnival] was great !! Baggage handling by Delta the worst !!!!!! by leon9306

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The Cruise was great, Carnival worked with me even though I booked my flight direct with Delta, Delta has no customer service when it comes to a lost bag, it took 9 days into my cruise for Delta to locate and deliver my bag on a 12 dat Cruise .. If Carnival wasn't working with them to locate ,I feel my bag would still be lost. !! Carnival provided free cleaning of my clothes wntil my bag arrived they were great !!! This is the short version of the Delta Baggage story !!

Amazing cruise by pugmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This was an amazing and interesting cruise. It was also exhausting. We visited 6 ports taking Carnival excursions in Berlin and St. Petersburg. The excursions were very well run although long and tiring since there was so much to see. We had a difficult time with money. Everything I had read said that ATMs were the best way to get it but in several cities, we didn't see any. I wish Carnival had explained more about where & how to get money. The Legend is a beautiful ship. I've been on 12 Carnival ships and this is my second favorite after the Paradise. The staff and crew were great. Food was okay but it is the same on every cruise so it gets a bit boring. However, the price was right and we've never really been disappointed in a Carnival cruise.

poor service & over price for transfer $340 by acer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

After we write to customer Carnival care about all the problems, they ignore and respond no reimbursement. We were unhappy with the transfer service to and from the airport to the ship. We waited over two hours for the transfer from the airport to the ship, then at the end of the cruise on the transfer from the ship to the airport we were in danger of missing our flight because the bus driver claimed he was not directed by his agents to stop at terminal 1 despite asking us which terminal we were going to when he stowed our bags. The confusion and delay almost caused us to miss our flight. We want full or partial reimbursement of the $340 transfer cost.
