Honolulu to Vancouver by KonaJW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

The Boarding process was very unorganized,  Started late and was slow and Carnival was not informative. The handicap people with walkers, canes, and wheelchairs had to wait in line for over 30 min with the rest of us.  There weren't enough chairs for everyone.  Once on the ship things went better, the rooms are some of the nicest in the industry.  The entertainment isn't as good as a few years back, but ok.  There are a lot of choices when it comes to dining, and the variety of food is good.  The waiters and room stewards are great.

Old, dirty, cheap, boring, it just sucked. by carnivalsux

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First off this was my 4th cruise, 2nd on Carnival, I just took a cruise the year prior on Royal Carribean. I selected the option to have any room anywhere at the lowest price(best option really if you've cruises before otherwise choose at least a window if it's your first.) .

The room ended up being bigger than a standard room because it was turned sideways, I think it was a handicapped room but I didn't see anything designating it as such. The room being sideways(8260) meant the bed and your head end up on the wall adjacent to the hallway so every conversation was heard, every kid running down the hall was felt, and ever door left to slam shut would shake your head awake that was a terrible room. I requested a king size bed(they just push the 2 beds together) BUT THE STEWARD DID NOT DO THAT. I arrived to find the 2 beds apart. I actually arrived to a room I personally felt haven't been used in awhile the lamps were filthy I could write my name on the dust AND I DID, steward NEVER wiped them down. I found leftover items from previous room guests in bathroom which lead me to believe it was never cleaned. There was small stuff all over the bathroom floor especially in the corners but it could have easily been vacuumed out, but never was. There were hangers you get with new clothing hanging in the closet, the towels(the first set I the room) had a musky stink and were stale feeling. That bed I requested be combined, I pushed it together myself on Sunday, it took till Wednesday before the steward finally combined the bedding to make it one he had changed the sheets but kept keeping them individual even though it was obvious I wanted 1-bed not 2 next to each other. The activities were scarce and boring I've cruised before and never felt so much like I was in a money trap, example, they have an unlimited drink pass, they say it's $50(sodas) receipt indicated it was $36+cup+their tip they add. I could live with $50 BUT IT TOOK FOREVER TO GET A DRINK, I made the mistake of rembering my positive experiences on Royal Carribean and assumed they'd be here. There is a machine you can go to on Royal Carribean 24/7 with a huge selection of drinks to fill your cup BUT HERE ON THIS CRUISE you had to constantly find an open bar(their only open in shifts so 90% of the time their on the other end or somewhere your not aware of) late at night if your by the pool or relaxed in your sleep shorts YOU DONT WANT TO GO TO THE ONE BUSY BAR IN THE "CLUB," to get a drink. I never found enough places to ask for a drink so I never got close to receiving the full value of the cup. The food was terrible in some instances disgusting: last year on Royal Caribbean the food especially at dinner always impressed me being better than I expected, but here it felt like they took the buffet items from lunch and tried to reuse them. At lunch there was a brisket being served it was so so at dinner they offered a steak which I requested, it arrived and I swear it was the brisket after they dipped it in warm water to cook it further, it was disgusting, shrimp disgusting, desserts were so cheap tasting and only the regular plain cheesecake and chocolate cake seemed like a real dessert the rest was full of air, literally it was either a Jell-O version of a real desert or made with tons of whipped ingredients to make it look full like a cake or mouse but ended up tasting flat and cheap. The shows were very very lame I don't know how many times we can see just a stupid song and dance, the 80's, epic rock, a horrible magic show to lame music, a tribute to British music it was terrible terrible singers ok dancing and boring same routines repeated. The whole ship felt like a trip to the past for the price I can live with the cheap outdated decor but poor service everywhere we went, overpriced "duty free," items, boring shows, terrible food(oh yes they have 2 options for food available 24/7 a hamburger/hotdog spot and a pizza spot, even though they had the equipment to have food ready for you to grab they only made food as you requested it making huge lines, this was obviously done to save money, last year on Royal Caribbean there were tons of options and pizza was always ready but here you had to ask for a flavor then wait bout 5-8minutes then he'd ask the next person what a colossal waste of time and way to slow the free food down same with the burgers you had to ask for a burger then wait for them to cook it, there was never a shortage of people waiting they just refused to make like 6 pizzas at once to speed it up they purposefully would make one item at a time) from the beginning with the poor room cleanliness till the end when the steward left a comforter I accidentally yet obviously dropped pickle juice on still on the bed this cruise sucked, drinks were overpriced, (unlimited alcohol was $400 a person and EVERYONE in your room must buy one so for me that would have been $800-and bar tender said it was actually limited, but on days you go to shore you'd be hard pressed to drink enough alcohol to make it a value). Everything about this was terrible I will never cruise Carnival again.

ONE OF MY BEST CRUISES!! by nestortang64

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

plenty of activities on board, great entertainment; food was excelent and service at the main restaurant was awesome. WE REQUESTED DINEER WITH NO SPECIFIC TIME  and it came up a great choice.

The only downside was a lack of courtesy by one of the managers at the Studio/Picture place, ; overall was a great experience.

We had a great time with family and friends on the legend.Excellent service in stateroom and dining room. Stateroom  larger than any on other cruise line. Would have like ed more activities on deck in evenings/ night, but overall a really good week. Impressed with efficient movement of people on &off ship even with tenders.

Overall, a great and memorable vacation! by Voldemort

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The reason this review didn't get 5 stars is due to a couple areas, which I'll outline below.

The ship itself: This ship was tackily decorated, had old TVs, is in desperate need for a remodel, does NOT have the amenities advertised on the Carnival website (Guy's Burgers, Blue Iguana), the electronic signs throughout the ships were worn out so that you couldn't read them (for example saying R F L E S STA  U NT for Truffles Restaurant, etc.) On board entertainment: I really wish cruises would stop having "musicals" on board. They just butchered almost everything. I would've preferred seeing more acrobatic/ magic/ cirque de soleil type of shows. The comedy shows were excellent, though. As was the piano bar. Food policies: At certain hours, the only option for food is pizza. The pizza wasn't even that great. I wish they  had a lot more 24 hour options. Not even having dessert available for late night in the buffet was awful.  Limited dinner options: If you didn't want to pay extra, your only options were buffet or Truffles. They need some more no-additional cost options on board. Destinations: I wish the boat didn't stop in Belize. And many fellow cruisers felt that way too. Save your self some money and just stay on the ship when it's there.

However, the rest of the cruising experience was wonderful. Tabyana Beach was a personal favorite, so I'd go on this cruise again (on a newer ship!!!) in a heartbeat. So if this cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Honduras, and Gran Cayman is on another ship, don't hesitate at all!

Exotic Western Carribean-Carnival Legend by DianeM16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We sailed right after the 4th of July.  This is a 7 day cruise with 4 stops.  The stops are why we decided to do this cruise and they did not disappoint.  The ship itself is very nice, however, many of the services on board were average or below.  The entertainment was not the quality that we have seen on other cruises.  Also, there were not many evening shows.  The food was average.  We had a problem with our room TV the first day and had to report it over 10 times before we were finally told on day 4 that it was not only our room, but several and there was nothing to do about.  That is fine, but when we asked about a credit to our account to this, we were told sorry.

I did use the spa this time, which is only the second time I have used it in over 9 cruises.  That was really a great treat, but it can get pricy.  We had a balcony room and I really did love it, but we did not use it as much as we thought.  They do allow smoking on the balconies and if you are not a smoker, you will probably experience smoke when you are out there.

Our 14 year old son used the Circle C for teens and he did enjoy a few of the activities, but found that alot of the time he preferred to just hang out with us.

The itinerary is the big attraction on this cruise.  These stops are all awesome.  We did scuba in Cozumel, which was awesome.  We did a shark & ray snorkel in Belize.  This excursion was very well worth the money.  We had a great time and got to touch a small shark (it is an all day excursion).  In Honduras, we did a dolphin snorkel at Anthony's Key which was beyond awesome.  If you only dream on swimming in the ocean with dolphins, that dream can come true.  There was something truly magical about this experience.  All of these excursion were booked through Carnival with the exception of Grand Cayman.  We booked that one through .  We have used their excusions in the past and they have always turned out even better than the cruise ships excursions.  The one we booked this time was a jet ski to stingray city and snorkel.  We had an awesome time.  I would definitely do this again.  The only problem we had is that there should have been two guides but one did not show up so we went ahead with only one.  Well, there was a problem.  My son tipped the jetski over at Stingray City and my husband had to drive the jet ski the entire time we were at Stingray City in order to pump out all the water the jet ski had taken on.  Had there been the other guide, he would have been able to do that.  Anyway I feel the guide did the best he could and so I would definitely do this again.

If you are looking to visit Cozumel, Belize, Honduras and Grand Cayman, this is definitely the way to go.

A very good week by 1drjay32

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise. We have nothing with which to compare. Overall, we felt everything was well organized. Our balcony stateroom was very nice, clean and well furnished. It was comfortable. The service provided by all of the staff was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout the ship and throughout our time.

Food was plentiful and good to very good. Service was very good throughout. We loved the staff in the main dining room.  Not many food items that struck me as being really outstanding, exciting and tasty. All was good and satisfying. Like many hotel conference meals....good and satisfying but not the same type of special meal we might expect at a fine resturant.  We ate at the main dining room every night and most lunches and breakfast on the Lido deck. We did not eat at the specialty resturant....the Steakhouse, which I hear from others was really outstanding. At $35 each for the upgraded meal experience, we just decided not to do it.

The shows in the main showroom were very good to outstanding. Piano bar and other lounges were nice and comfortable. The nightclub was not good at all. DJs and the crowd never really got going. My wife and I hoped to do some dancing but that didn't happen at all.

Formal nights weren't that at all. I brought my tux and wore it twice. I sat next to people in shorts and polo shirts. Less than 30%  of men wore jacket and tie. Many women were dressed up but many were not dressed up.

The decks and public spaces were nice...sunsets amazing every night. We never felt overcrowded and could always find a place to sit and eat, or talk or lounge when we wanted to. The gym was really nice. We did not have spa services. There was a full menu of spa services available. We were a bit put off by the prices which were high resort levels and much more than we would spend at home for similar services.

The ports were nice. Excursions didn't leave time to shop and dine and just sit in the places we visited. Next time I will not schedule excursions so much. I kept a little too busy and will look to relax more and just sit, enjoy the music, culture, dance and flavors of the places we visit next time.

The shops and stores were very nice although we really didn't shop much on the ship.

We will cruise again and will take our young adult kids next time. I would take the Carnival Legend Caribbean  cruise again, but because we live in California and plan to take the kids next time, we will probably cruise from a Southern California port and go to Mexico.

Perfect vacation!! by wxgirls3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was the first cruise for the whole family and was much better than expected!! Everyone told us that 7 days was too long for a first cruise but it actually could have been longer!! Everything was really clean and well maintained!! All of the staff was terrific & were very impressive that they remembered our names!! Getting on and off the boat was smooth and quick! I expected craziness when tendering but it couldn't have gone smoother!! Booking excursions was very easy and they guarantee the best price so there is no reason to book through anyone else! The food was great and the entertainment was perfect!! I really loved the piano bar and the meetings that told us do's and don'ts about the ports... & they told us how to save money. The only negative thng I can think of is that they should have more ping pong tables and have all activities included in the price of the cruise.  I was completely satisfied with our trip and will definitely book another!!!

7 nights of good food and fun by RayG5

Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Just had a great cruise on the Legend. A week of total sunshine, sunbathing and swimming.  We went ziplining and cave tubing in Belize and had a great time.  Food on the ship was good, entertainment was OK too.  The crew was the best, they could not do enough for us.  For the money I don't think you can find a better vacation.

Had a great time by JamesTurner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Much needed  relaxation.  After crusing on most of the other major cruise lines we wanted to try Carnival out.  It was a very nice ship and everyone was truly nice and very helpful.   Of the small issues that did arise,  they were very quick to respond.   Had I never been on a cruise before,  I would have been throughly impressed,  but since I knew what others offered I have to say I was a little disappointed.   Cabin was awesome.   Very spacious and great layout also.   Food in main dining was pretty good.   The buffet dining was okay. Overall my experience was disappointed as far as the carnival cruise lines goes, I wood definitely prefer to spend a few dollars more and sail with Royal Caribbean as the differences are so great they are uncomparable in my opinion.   You have the same age range with maybe a few more of the older generation on Royal Caribbean then you do Carnival and as far as kids go I would say its almost equal.   Both ships have alot of activities for the kids  but I think Royal Caribbean has Carnival beat there also.     In my opinion,  I prefer in this order: Princess Cruise lines, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise lines,  then Carnival.   All are very good,  I have cruised on each of these some multiple times, but for the money my favorites are Princess and Royal Caribbean.   I hope this helps some Enjoy whatever cruise line you decide to take.

What a wonderful way to spend a week by dreday22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Let me start by saying if you ever thought about taking a cruise anywhere in the world, take Carnival.  Next let me say if the Caribbean in on your to do list, this is the vacation you want and here's why.

From the moment we boarded the Carnival staff went above and beyond to make our vacation not just a trip but an experience.  The ship is beautiful and full of modern comforts like internet cafe's, library and an adult only pool area.  The excusrions were well organized and for lack of a better term, they were a blast!!  From the great towel sculptures left in our staterooms every night that my daugters loved to the fact that by day two I felt like I was on cheers because everyone knew my name, the cruise staff were simply the best... Last but not least, the combination of islands you visit on this cruise are just perfect.

Western Caribbean--good time! by btviking56

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship having been just redone--is in pretty poor repair--giant wall murel torn and wrinkled!  The quality of the shows in main showroom was very poor and repititious.  The food in the main dining room for the most part was bland--but not bad.  The food in the steakhouse was well worth the $35 per person--the service and food there was outstanding!  Buffet food--well it's buffet food some good, some not so good.  Pizza was awesome!  Ice machines were constantly out of ice, available juice drinks were very sweet, and again were sometimes hard to get.

HoneyMoon Cruise - First Timer by marcyenos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Upon Arrival to our cabin...They did not do anything special to make us feel that this was our Honeymoon. I was expecting something like flowers on the bed, champaign in the room..something.

After gettng settled we ventured to check out what types of activities they had and where the restraunts, clubs..etc. was located. At dinner again I had to let the hostess know that this was our honeymoon and that I wanted a "Romantic" table for two..of course they sat us in the middle of a walkway. My husband was okay with it but I was not..As the cruise experiance went by we engaged in the dinner dancing so at the end it was something that we coped with. I would have expected them to put honeymooners or anniversary celebrations close to the ocean view and have the bigger tables in the middle and closer to the isles. The activites were great and the performers were awsome especially the musical performers. I thought the price to play Bingo was a bit much since they had the casino area available so I didn't care for that. Overall the Staff was awsome and friendly which put the icing on the cake. Food was delicious and everynight we had a variety.

It was our first cruise wich also was our honeymoon cruise. We loved the experience, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We had no problems at all with luggage or anything of that nature. The entertainment is outstanding, from stand up comedians to live musicals then illusion shows it was a very memorable experience. The food was phenomenal and they have plenty of it. We strongly recommend you board the carnival legend experience. We absolutely enjoyed it and are planning our next cruise.

Fun in the Caribbean Sun by Kirstin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise on the Carnival Legend was a fun and exciting family vacation for us.  The boat was clean and the service was excellent!  The food was very good in the dining rooms but if you want a buffet late, it was not availiable.  However pizza and ice cream was plentiful.  The boat was well managed and the weather was beautiful with expected humidity.  The stops kept the excitement going and the sea days gave options for relaxation or choices of many activities.  The entertainment was fun but not at the high calliber we have seen in the past.  Dining room service supurb!  Overall lots of fun in the sun!

Of note:  We booked an excersion through Shore Trips, the Belize cave tubing experience.  Cardinal and Louis were extradonary guides and took the time to show us all the extras including plant and animal life on the way to the cave, the best swimming spots, fun safe places to jump into the water and formations in the cave I don't think were being pointed out to other guests.  For a more reasonable pricethan most others we compared they carried our tubes to the cave and had them ready and waiting for us.  This left our hands free to explore and swim and enjoy!  Nice work Cardinal and Louis from VIV (Very Important Visitor). :)
