A great Pre-Honeymoon by rarbnot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Me and my fiancee had a great time!!! All the ports were fun and exciting. We both loved Cozumel best. There was always something going on somewhere on the ship while at sea as well as in port.  If you have children it's the best for them.

All around an awesome experience. Great value for money. Would do again. by emails4amanda

Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival embarkation and debarkation was well organized, with lots of options, help and information available through out the process. One note: if you take booze on the boat with you, there's a limit per person, and it must be carry-on, else it gets confiscated and you may or may not be able to retrieve it during the cruise.

The boat is well designed with lots of entertainment. We did a Norwegian cruise 6 months ago and the entertainment was crap. The Carnival Glory's entertainment was far superior, with options for all kinds of people: piano bar, casino, shows with cast members that could actually sing, multiple dance events and venues,  scavenger hunts, art sales, towel animal classes, themed nights, many dining options, movies, comedy club. Always something to do. The George Lopez comedy acts were all high quality and really funny.....though the performances were too short for my liking. I would have liked a full length show opposed to 2 small ones each night from each comedian. But I am nick picking.

All the staff were great. The cleaning staff were especially attentive, remembering my name almost immediately, and being really good about not trying to come in our room while we were there. Very observant and thoughtful.

The ports were all great. Carnival has made some private ports with vendors to make the experience great from the moment you get off the boat. It's cool, but you need to book excursions if you really want to see the place properly. If you do this cruise, make sure you take a good amount of cash on each excursion. Snacks, souvenirs and tips can only be in cash a lot of the time. I felt bad in Belize. The Mayan ruins excursion was amazing, and I wanted to tip, especially because everyone is so poor and the place is so run down everywhere, but didn't have the cash and it's hard to find ATMs there.

All in all, had an awesome time and I would book this exact cruise again right now if I could, and do it all again.

7 night Exotic Wester Caribbean (Miami) by msgwinches

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall the cruise was really nice.  I don't care that I had to get the Cheers Package due to my roommate wanted it.  Since I am not really a drinker and in no way could I get 15 drinks a day in me, I found it way to much to have to pay for someone who would never use that many.

Other issue, was my roommate left her cell phone on deck 9 for approx 3 minutes and someone took it and didn't turn it in.  The issue was when report was given to security they stated there were no camera's on that deck.  I found that had to believe, really, it is one a large smoking area at the front of the boat and I know I show that area on the TV when they put up shorts of the ship on the set each morning and through the cruise.  Not Carnivals problem I guess, really she is out of 900 dollars now to replace it  That was not the main concern, it was all the pics on the phone from a trip of hers 2 weeks prior of her grandmother and the first two days were on that.  Carnival wouldn't even announce anything for us, we were willing to give a reward to get the camera back so she would have her picture, sad of them.

Our Table staff and room staff were above reproach on the up side. :)

Week well spent by mwendell

Overall service by the room stewards and restaurant staff on the ship was very good.  The staff was friendly, quickly learned and remembered our names and continually tried to do everything possible to make us happy.  San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay were all great stop overs with beautiful scenery.  Grand Turk is a bit of a let down, unless you are into snorkeling or scuba diving.

Stateroom Steward by alexlens14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We were very pleased with the overall cruise. Great room, location, food (outstanding), entertainment, all in all a dream come true for a vacation.

The most remarkable experience on the ship was IWAYAN, our stateroom Steward. He went above and beyond to please us, was always available, kept our room spotless, made beautiful towel animals and even addressed our Mom's birthday by writing her a birth day note! We were somewhat disappointed that the cruise line did not do anything to make our mom's birthday a little bit more special. Our last cruise was with Norwegian and it was my husband's birthday, and they upgraded our room as a birthday present! So when our steward made such a great effort we really appreciated it! He deserves to be recognized for such amazing customer service. He made our vacation extra special!!!!

Carnival Glory - 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise by rmosby06

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, it was a decent cruise. However, besides the shore excursions, there isn't much to do on the boat but drink and sunbathe on the deck. That would be fine for most but my wife doesn't drink so we were expecting a wide variety of activities and shows inside the ship. The few stage shows they did have were subpar but the comedy shows were great. Other than that, you could expect karaoke and plenty of action in the casino but that was about it. The food selection for both the assigned dining in the restaurant and the buffet option was terrible. Having a burger and taco joint on the ship helped but they were always closed in the evening when you needed them the most. Pizza was served 24 hours which helped as well. There was really no reason to have a cruise elegant night since most of the Captain's crew only shook hands for a few minutes in the casino. Royal Caribbean cruise line puts on a show centered around introducing the crew to the cruisers, which made it way more fun. And not to blame Carnival but I may think twice about getting a balcony in the future. You can't smoke on the balcony (well, blame Carnival for this) and the doors close pretty heavily so all you hear are the balcony doors slamming during the night. I will say that the crew kept the ship spotless and well sanitized which made living there for a week more comfortable. My wife and I will most likely look at other cruise lines for our next cruise and/or go back to Royal Caribbean.

MAINTENANCE by kbeecher319

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

THE SHIP HAD A MAINTENANCE ISSUE WITH A POOL FILTER/MOTOR. UNFORTUNATELY THE ROOM WHERE THE EQUIPMENT WAS PROBLEMATIC WAS ON OUR 8Th FLOOR ACROSS FROM OUR ROOM. THEY WORKED ON THIS ISSUE ALMOST OUR ENTIRE TRIP. THEY KEPT THE DOOR OPEN. THE WORKERS WERE LOUD AND IT SMELLED! THE ROOM HAD SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER ON THE FLOOR, I ASSUME THAT IS WHY IT SMELLED. ALTHOUGH THE FOOD, ENTERTAINMENT AND CRUISE STAFF WERE GREAT. THE ROOM ISSUE RUINED THE TRIP! I HOPE THIS ISSUE WAS FIXED FOR THE NEXT TRAVELLERS.

Terrible noise in stateroom. Dining room service poor. by JasonSevere

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Sad This was my mom's, sister's, and significant other's first cruise. I'm sad about this because the staterooms rattled and vibrated with violent noise every night while we were trying to sleep. Woke up about once per hour unable to sleep through the loud noise, so we were all exhausted on a cruise that was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Then, the dining staff wasn't NEARLY as friendly and accurate as I am used to getting on a Carnival Cruise Line ship. Overall, very disappointed, since I've had better cruises with Carnival before. I am very disappointed that this was my family's first cruise experience. Very bad first impression, Carnival. I'm very disappointed.

Worst trip ever by jerryanj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I'm aware this cruise was easter week so I do keep that in mind. BUt some things just made this a very disappointing experience. 1. The lounge chair and pool situation. I was out every day at 8 am to get some chairs for my family and all of them except for a few on the top level( where there are hurricane like winds and the waiter never came to). people must have gone out at 6 am to claim chairs with towels and belongings. all week we never had a seat. The pools were so small and crowded that my children did not go in all week. People were leaving drink cups in them as well. That in turn made us leave the pool area early everyday and that sometimes led us to the arcade room where the cheapest game was a 1.10 a pop. 2$ for most. 2. the cheers program. Horrible setup. If I paid for something and its 400$ (with gratuity already included) and i have a 15 drink max, well then i should be able to orderevery minute. If i go over 15 , then i pay more. simple. also they made me get my wife everytime i ordered at the bar!! she's in the pool, or laying out, or watching our kids! i have to pull her over to make her sign?? c'mon. we are not trying to cheat anyone. plus again, it's my $. And when my daughter was sleeping in the room, i couldnt  get a drink on room service or the mini bar because it wasnt in cheers program. fix the program so thats included. I worked for the spirits business, i know how much a beer costs. 3. The thermostat in the room never worked . 4. The room keys did not work the whole last night on the boat. we had to track someone down and each worker would point to someone else. 5. The tips added to bill. 84$ 4 times. 336$ off the bat. even if i have terrible service? what did i pay for originally? the food and the room? c'mon. Lastly, the kids drinks. basically lemonade and ided tea. my kids hate both. so i had to order smoothies and water. Maybe some fruit punch or the juices during the day? chocolate milk? i rarely was helped out with this. The only good things were the islands. And we also saved 100's of dollars by not doing excusions which charged you for taxi, chairs, umbrellas and …the beach? 65$ for a kid? are you kidding? we did it ourselves and each day cost about 150 total. the guy who cleaned our room did a good job and i would have tipped more but i had nothing left. it will be a very longtime before we step on another cruise. definitley not during spring break. definitley not with small children and definitely not the carnival glory.

Carnival Glory- review by anhle1212

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have taken multiple Carnival cruises and our  younger family members as well as retired family members and their friends love cruising.  However, this seems to be our last cruise, at least for the foreseeable future.

With great anticipation, we were looking forward to this cruise.  Now that our young children have gotten more mobile (4, 6 yrs) we eagerly looked forward to creating a more interactive beach and water-filled family experience.  Instead, we got a more cabin-locked experience that was great for our lazy bones but not much for memory building.

The three biggest reasons: (a) not enough activities for families with young children.  Teenage and adults can always find things to do- with lots of sun, a great spa, lounge chairs, and a little booze, anything is great with these self-entertaining age groups.  There was practically NOTHING for parents and small children.  The camps were great daycare not much of a family experience.  (b) beach ports were terrible: When you have 2-3 ships each with approximately 3,000+ people docking at the same time- that is about 6000-9000 people battling for a few options for transportation to beaches and destinations.  The whole purpose of a Caribbean cruise, which was to be near/in the water got lost.  By the time we finally got to the beaches, we had exactly 1 hour to enjoy the beach.  In fact, our of our 7 day cruise, we spent a grand total of 2 hours in the beach water.  (1 hour in St. Maarten because of trouble finding transportation to the beach; Puerto Rico was more of a site-seeing port, an Turks was AWFUL having to swim next to the industrial waters of the ports- not to mention the horse manure in the water; for our health and safety, we left after an hour which was probably an hour too long).  (c) Amenities are lower-quality; felt like a budget-friendly cruise: Cabin servicer was wonderful but seems like the excitement and over-the-top friendliness (hallmark of a cruising experience)  among the ship's staff was absent.  On many occasions, they sounded annoyed or agitated when asked for something simple as directions around the ship.  Shopping was extremely limited in quality and options. Just more of the cheap trinkets.

Overall, we had a decent time but I would not recommend this cruising- at least with Carnival.  On our part, we have no plans to book another anytime soon.

Thank you.

okay trip by sherryw1948

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my third Carnival cruise.  I was disappointed that it was not as good as previous ones.  The food quality was often not good or not what was advertised on the menu.  The staff was friendly, but they all seemed tired and overworked.  I didn't see any tours offering a trip  by bus or trolley to see the islands.  I am retired and I no longer want to snorkel or go deep sea diving.

A great trip! The trip is relaxing and convenient. San Juan is beautiful. If you wish to appoint some tours on the cruise, do not wait for the last minute. Tours on Grand Turk were sold out when we came to the service center. A pity.

Carnival Glory by 31bdagirl

The Carnival Glory was a great ship.   The food in the dinning room wasn't as good as other Carnival Cruise ships.   The menu didn't have as many choices as other ships. This was our 4 cruise with Carnival.  Otherwise the service and ports were great.

Just OK by scoenen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Ports were nice, a lot to do.  I guess you have to drink if you want to have fun.  We had 4 in our room, one under 18 and one that does not drink, but we were not allowed to buy 2 drink cards because we had 3 over 21 in our room!?!?!?!  Food was average at best, movie night was nice but had been on other ships that handed out blankets / cookies / milk etc...  (just a nice touch)  Lastly all the hidden costs when you cruise is outrageous.  Just let me know the costs up front and be done with it.

Ok Cruise by spurlore

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our third cruise. 2nd on Carnival. The ship was very nice. We had an inside stateroom that was comfortable and well cared for. The bad part of the cruise was the food. We don't expect gourmet for low price tickets. However having better food on two other cruises gave us a benchmark. In the main dining room one of our table mates ordered chicken. They got a cold dry breast with grocery store canned peas and carrots. I order vegetable lasagna that came with old grayish noodles. Each morning they had potatoes on the breakfast buffet that were beyond horrible. Either it was gross baked quarter potatoes or hash brown patties that were so over cooked that the inside part containing potatoes was cooked away leaving a hard shell with grease inside. They no longer put have or bacon in the buffet you have to get in a separate line and get handed a rationed portion. The ham was like plastic, and the bacon overcooked and hard. Their taco bar, hamburger station, and pizza station were good to very good. As far as our stops go; Nassau was good for shopping, Half Moon Cay is a wonderful private island that like a little piece of paradise, Grand Turks was awful. The Grand Turk is just a place made for cruise ships. It's just a little shopping village with a pool and not much else.
