Review summary
This was our third cruise. 2nd on Carnival. The ship was very nice. We had an inside stateroom that was comfortable and well cared for. The bad part of the cruise was the food. We don't expect gourmet for low price tickets. However having better food on two other cruises gave us a benchmark. In the main dining room one of our table mates ordered chicken. They got a cold dry breast with grocery store canned peas and carrots. I order vegetable lasagna that came with old grayish noodles. Each morning they had potatoes on the breakfast buffet that were beyond horrible. Either it was gross baked quarter potatoes or hash brown patties that were so over cooked that the inside part containing potatoes was cooked away leaving a hard shell with grease inside. They no longer put have or bacon in the buffet you have to get in a separate line and get handed a rationed portion. The ham was like plastic, and the bacon overcooked and hard. Their taco bar, hamburger station, and pizza station were good to very good. As far as our stops go; Nassau was good for shopping, Half Moon Cay is a wonderful private island that like a little piece of paradise, Grand Turks was awful. The Grand Turk is just a place made for cruise ships. It's just a little shopping village with a pool and not much else.

This is why you have to ready a lot of reviews and give a grain of salt to some or the over the top bad and the over top good reviews. What one person loves another hates. We see this in reviews of the same ship and same sailing where one review is one star and the next is 5 for the same trip.
One of the nice things of a cruise is that if your not fond of a port your only there for the day, not a one week booking at a hotel. If you love a place you can then go back on a land trip at a later date.

How funny that this is one of my favorite stops. I love it because the beach is riight there, the lounges are free, there is shade, the pool is huge, clean, the music from Margarettaville is fun, drinks and snacks are steps away and the shopping is without hassle. There is even an NASA exhibit to check out. Everyone is different in what they want from a port. I usually love to go exploring, but here I want to just relax and enjoy the warm water, the music and hassle free shopping. I look for cruises that visit this port.

I agree Grand Turk is a nothing stop, just a shopping area and a pool area rite next to the ship. We did a tour of the island, it was nice to see it, but not much of an island.
For food on the Glory, the Emerald Stake house was great, $ 35.00 per person, but worth it (it was my B-day dinner, so Steak house and bottle of good wine). For free dining the Taco and Burrito bar was great, pizza was ok, Fish and chips (upstairs from the Lido) was good, Guys Burgers were OK, not great but OK and the Lido and MDR were hit and miss.
My main issues on that ship were the staff not doing anything about kids pounding on cabin doors and yelling in the hall ways at all hours of the night. The Smoke from the Casino going into all areas around the casino. The piano bar with closed doors still smelled from smoke :-(
