Pay attention to the maps to get around. I would study that map well on the first day so you don’t spend so much time looking for places.

Get some dots from your Dr. before you depart. I tend to get seasick.

Written and oral directions on how EXACTLY to get from stateroom to activities.
jacqgamble
I would not recommend Carnival Freedom! The onboard staff were very Rude and the shipped smelled of sewer.
laallen40
Occasionally check the mattresses and turn them I had a medium hard mattress and a hard mattress wasn't as soft as my sister mattress in her stater room.

Make sure you bring plenty of money for tips and stuff

It’s a great first cruise or a very reasonable getaway.

Be realistically patient. The various bars and eateries serve great drinks and food, but remember that there are literally thousands of passengers on the ship. It is not realistic to expect a blended drink in a matter of seconds. Calm down and just enjoy the fact that you are on vacation!

Good for families with children only.

Extension cord with multiple plugs would be great.

choose this ship over royal's liberty of the seas. did that one in 16 and not a good experience
sengland30
I definitely would take Dramamine with me the next time I sail it was very rocky this time of your looking to just relax and have little kids this is the ship for you I personally won’t be sailing on this ship again I enjoyed our staff but the ship itself I didn’t I’d rather be on the Magic

Take the stairs instead of the elevator to burn off calories of all the food you’ll eat.
kmarshall87
It may not be as new or big as the Magic but we loved it!! The entertainment was awesome the staff were great and our cabin showed signs of aging but it was very roomy and the deck was super big!!
Chiles2017
This ship is so much fun! Take advantage of as many of the activities as you can!

DON'T DO IT! ... Bottom line: why did my wife and I choose Carnival and pay for seven cabins? ... because we wanted a large family (16 members) cruise where all but three could drive to Galveston from San Antonio and not have the expense of airfare ... this was the second family cruise we have had with Carnival out of Galveston ... the first, two years ago on the Magic ... a very pleasant ship where food & service were so much better ... will we return? ... not likely as long as the Freedom is our Carnival choice ... there are better options for our money.
Bubblygoodness
Study the layout of the ship to learn how to get around. I got lost every time I left my cabin!
CatCren
Study layout; go to Steakhouse; look ahead for T-shirt sales. Had I known, I could’ve saved $$by not buying in port.

Explore before you do anything else!!
