Review summary

I am very unhappy with my cruise. Let me start by stating , We are previous cruisers but it had been 5+ years. This WAS the most disappointing cruise we have ever taken. First I specifically asked and questioned a few things from Wendy the booking agent before booking. This was my anniversary and a congratulations celebration for myself and my husband. I fully made her aware of this. Wendy and I went back and forth questions before finally booking because we had a lot of concerns . At the original booking of this cruise I stated that I wanted a balcony which was a must and anytime dining ( which is imperative as I am a diabetic) therefore, I have to eat early. Wendy stated that the balconies were sold out, suggested an oceanview. I specifically said I've never had an oceanview does the window open for fresh air- she said "yes". I agreed to take this room. I sent her an email asking about a charge for cokes onboard and confirming what I read because I haven't cruised in 5 years . Wendy replied back " Yes there is a charge -Sodas cost but you can also carry on your own soda if you would rather ". Upon getting on the ship we had to discard our cases of soda and bottled water because it was in a plastic bottle (Which we had no idea cans only are accepted.). Getting to the room we found the Ocean view window does not open. The anytime dinner we requested was scheduled for late dinner, therefore we were turned away when we arrived at 630. The trip went down hill from there.... The staff onboard were Very rude. The shipped had an awful smell of sewer throughout. The room we were in felt like a sauna at night-even after numerous complaints. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND CARNIVAL FREEDOM OR MAKE A RESERVATION WITH CRUISELINE .COM AGAIN.

Ahh, I see. That makes perfect sense. Sorry gator, brain is a bit slow tonight.

He/she is saying if she’s tech savvy enough to post on here, she can figure out how to manage her cruise online. Right?

shingaling    6 years ago

gatoraugustine, what does posting here have to do with booking directly with Carnival? This app is not affiliated with any cruise line. It is a 3rd party marketing outfit.

If you are able to post here you are able to book and reserve on their website and choose exactly what you want. Geez Louise!

We will be cruising on Freedom in December 2018.. I’ve heard only great things about her. I’m sorry you had to experience this but I think it’s best you change your TA.

DFromATX    6 years ago

I’m sorry your experience wasn’t to your liking, but as others have said, the bottom line is you didn’t do your research. Why didn’t you log on to manage your cruise? You would have seen then that you were scheduled for late dining.

To bad you are not computer savvy. That way all of your questions would of been answered correctly instead of relying on a bad TA

Should have booked thru carnival directly ... we went on the freedom last September & had a blast

I didn't even know travel agents existed anymore.

jdolphin128    6 years ago

Sounds like it was the agents fault and then nothing could make you happy. Going to get services or calling maintenance would help some of your issues. Probably better off booking everything yourself.

A good travel agent makes all the difference. You got a bad agent. I'm not sure cruiseline.com has agents themselves, usually you click through to an external company.

We sailed on the Freedom in Sept. Everything was great. We booked through Carnival about 9 months early to make sure we got the room and location we wanted. I hope you don't give up on the Freedom, she is a great ship.

It’s a shame that you didn’t use the Carnival website. It would show you what dining time you had, so that you could change if necessary. Once you discovered that you had an issue with your time, did you approach the maitre’ d with your problem? People on this forum ask questions a lot, such as for the soda, and what containers have to be used... sorry that you had a bad experience, but I think you may be giving credit to Carnival when it was not their fault...

Also being a season cruiser you stated you need early dinning. The 6pm early dinning would have been perfect for you. Anytime is on space available only no matter what time you go dine.

I don't know how far in advance you booked your cruise? It only take simple research, I spent my last 2 anniversary with Carnival and we had a great time. I spending my 40th on the Freedom in March, the good times are with you and your love one. What the cruise offers should just enhance the good times.

Yes, bad agent, not Carnival. Sorry about that.

travelingamigos    6 years ago

Your issues lie with your travel agent for the most part. Sorry that you had a bad agent.

shingaling    6 years ago

Always book directly through Carnival for the most accurate information. And always read the information available on the website. It sounds like your bad experience is due to turning everything over to someone who did a lousy job. But that's not Carnival's fault, not the fault of the ship.

funboomer47    6 years ago

Most of your problems were due to your travel agent giving wrong information. Can't fault the cruise line for that. Sorry you didn't have a better cruise
