A pleasant, short cruise by dragonliby

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second time on this cruise itinerary but our first time on Carnival Freedom. Cozumel is fun, but Progreso is a big blah. The Freedom is bigger than the Teiumph, but all three of us liked the Triumph a bit better. The dining room is much nicer and we preferred the decor on the Triumph. All in all, a nice cruise, but nothing spectacular.

OUR FIRST CRUISE WITH CARNIVAL by Barb959

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

THIS WAS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE THAN ROYAL CARRIBEAN OR PRINCESS WHO WE HAVE CRUISED WITH BEFORE.  WE TOOK OUR 10 YEAR OLD GRANDDUGHTER FOR THE FIRST TIME AND SHE HAD A BALL.  I LOOK FORWARD TO TAKING THE OTHER 3 GRANDCHILDREN ON CARNIVAL.  MALCOLM IS AWESOME, TOP NOTCH & MADE THE CRUISE MORE FUN, ENTERTAINMENT WAS EXCEPTIONAL, BETTER THAN OTHER  2 CRUISE LINES, FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD, ENJOYED THE MORE CASUAL MENUS ALONG WITH THE INCREDIBLE FOOD IN THE DINING ROOM.  WE ESPECIALLY LIKED THE WAY THE SEATING IS ARRANGED IN THE THEATRE. AND DID IS SAY I NOW SEE WHY ITS CALLED THE FUN SHIIP? Love

You get what you pay for. by carolynbionic40

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was the cheapest I ever paid for a 7 day, balcony cruise.  The room; the size, the bed & shower was wonderful.  No ice bucket or little spa lotions or creams waiting for me tho the room steward was awesome.

The food was very sub par, tho I did enjoy the fresh sandwich stop and the hamburger & fish & chips place.  My party enjoyed the pizza too, but I found the crust under-cooked for my taste.  Formal dinning room was nice, but the food left me underwhelmed.  I looked forward to Carnivals famous Chocolate Molten Cake, but everyone found it uneatable without large bites of ice cream to off set the chocolate.

Getting my party of 10 at one table was a nightmare.  Never had such a terrible Matre-D. He gave us a beautiful table, but only for one night, He then preceded to yell at my 80 year old parents for sitting there (for the evening dinner service he just gave to us).  Poor professionalism.  If he didn't want us there, he should never have offered it.  My parents & nephews family refuse to go on another Carnival cruise.

As for me?  I enjoyed my time in the Caribbean, my room, my family.  Like I said, "You get what you paid for."  Just happy I didn't over pay for the service & food..

The process of ordering with was simple!  I will definitely do it again!  The cruise was wonderful except for the bad weather the first day or so.  We loved the ports of call and the excursion!

Great trip! by wisock

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was a wonderful experience with WONDERFUL staff!  Very clean and an AMAZING New Years celebration!!  The food was not as good as we have experienced on past Carnival  cruises but it was still good.  The Cruise Director was not as good as we have experienced either.  Our only disappointment is that online the ship looked different and the Freedom was a replica of the Liberty.  great ship but we hoped for some variety.  Overall we LOVE Carnival and will sail with them again!!

7 days is too long by thepokerguy11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

All of the ship's personnel were friendly but unless you plan on just spending money non-stop for 7 days you may want to book a shorter cruise. The port stops were extremely rushed due to the excursions being located at least an hour from the actual ports and we never even actually went to Cozumel, but went to Playa Del Carmen instead and we were warned not to leave the general area of all the ports (Carnival owns or has partnerships with all of the businesses in that area). Unless you take an excursion then you don't even really get to take in any of the native culture. The Chic and Posh restaurants were very crowded and you had to not only wait for a table but the service was fairly slow. It wasn't a very good experience for a first cruise.

my freedom cruise by kvs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The shore excursions were very good but probably too far from the ship as Tulum in Playa del Carmen and Xantuanch Mayan ruins in  Belize required a long bus ride that ate up the time ashore.

Food was good but not great. Main buffet meat entrees were not quality cuts but rest of entrees were 'good".

The shows were wonderful and very much made me want to jump in to the act.

Room was immaculate and service was great although we had no special requests.

Found dining lounges too noisy- music.

I would cruise again but prefer "adults only"

Great cruise. A lot to do. Outstanding service from all people on the boat.

too bad cruises dot com promised a$50 credit per cabin and that was not delivered at the cruise. Carnival had no record of this credit. May not book with cruises dot com in the future.

INon relaxing by brilafferty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Worst Carnival experience ever. Wish I would have saved my money and stayed home.Surprised   I tried to relax in the hot tubes but found myself being jumped on by unsupervised children as the ships security chatted with the towel girl.  I even tried the serenity hot tub that is suppose to be adults only and found that this was not being enforced by security and children were in this hot tub as well jumping.  I have done many carnival cruises 2 on this ship this might have been my last carnival cruise.

Could be better by willjackson5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The overall experience was very good especially the service from stateroom

and dining room staff.   Jase is a good CD. However there need to be more passenger interaction . more involvement , less spectators. For example ,

more games to draw the passengers into the atmosphere of the cruise .

The Staff was good , but the cruise people will remember the most is the

ones where ordinary people like them , shines. Conclusion : Good.

But Could be better.

First bad experience with carnival by ywuDJ9ErzyAJC3vTdXom8PxYm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is our first bad experience with carnival, the steward was unfriendly, the room was not clean even after we asking to clean it, it was very dusty, but the worst part is that in the burger place the dined me food.

In the other hand, the dinning room staff was great as always.

Carnival Freedom, December 12, 2015, 7 Night Western by sandymorton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a fabulous cruise on The Freedom!  We had a beautiful room, enjoyed fantastic food, and terrific wait staff in the Chic Dining Room.  I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone cruising whether it is a first time or experienced cruiser.  We received great service from Cruises Only in preparation for the cruise.  We also received an onboard credit for $25.00, which we were able to purchase items in the gift shop.We love cruising and booking through Cruises Only, because of the very low deposit to secure our cruise for future traveling.  Thank you, Cruises Only, for your outstanding customer service!

Sandy Morton

Not going again! by Vamonos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall we (2 retired couples) did not particularly enjoy this cruise.  We  expected more because we had cruised the Caribbean at the same time for a similar price the year before and loved everything about it.  This led us to invite our German relatives to join us on this cruise, which we all found lacking.   The entire ship was in serious need of renovation (did I hear someone say this was its last voyage?)  and it was not clean.  The food was good, though not great, but the lines for the buffet were terrible.  The entertainment was definitely for a younger crowd:  we enjoyed the Latin music and the singing guitar players, though those were relegated to a corner in a bar where they had to compete with TV football games and noise shuffleboard. The late comedy shows were nasty rather than funny; we walked out of the two we tried;  the variety shows were too loud and always variations of the same routine, a more hyper version of my exercise class.

Our main complaint however, was with the organization.  Nothing (except the main shows) began at the scheduled time, and the announcements were unclear and not always audible.  This was especially true of the safety drill.  Passengers were confused where and when to go.  WE WERE SERIOUSLY CONCERNED WHAT WOULD HAPPER IF EVER THERE WERE AN EMERGENCY!

Freedom cruise by wilsoto

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This being my 6 cruise with Carnival I will have to say it was interesting.  The staff in the restaurant were new and no one had a clue, but being a patent person I let it go until the 3 night. The shows were again ok, the dancers on the magic were much more entertaining.  Jase the cruise director, again was ok.  now the punchline comedy club was outstanding, highly recommended.   Breakfast in the dinning room was also excellent,  only ate once in the Buffet,  I rate it poor.  Now for the site visited, all were good except for Jamaica,  not sure if we docked at the Jamaica dump site but it was very bad,  stay on the boat.  Overall this is a good cruise.
