Review summary

Overall we (2 retired couples) did not particularly enjoy this cruise.  We  expected more because we had cruised the Caribbean at the same time for a similar price the year before and loved everything about it.  This led us to invite our German relatives to join us on this cruise, which we all found lacking.   The entire ship was in serious need of renovation (did I hear someone say this was its last voyage?)  and it was not clean.  The food was good, though not great, but the lines for the buffet were terrible.  The entertainment was definitely for a younger crowd:  we enjoyed the Latin music and the singing guitar players, though those were relegated to a corner in a bar where they had to compete with TV football games and noise shuffleboard. The late comedy shows were nasty rather than funny; we walked out of the two we tried;  the variety shows were too loud and always variations of the same routine, a more hyper version of my exercise class.

Our main complaint however, was with the organization.  Nothing (except the main shows) began at the scheduled time, and the announcements were unclear and not always audible.  This was especially true of the safety drill.  Passengers were confused where and when to go.  WE WERE SERIOUSLY CONCERNED WHAT WOULD HAPPER IF EVER THERE WERE AN EMERGENCY!

If you want to go to Tulum, be sure to book the excursion through the cruise line; that it the only way you can be sure to make it back on time.

Yeah I think I was on the same cruise as you, the things you said are pretty true. Things were kinda late and docking far out from Georgetown due to "weather" kinda made us frustrated. But honestly the ship doesn't really need any renovations but maybe a few clean-ups and fixes. otherwise I enjoyed it.

Can hardly wait to board the Freedom. We are looking forward to the comedy shows As it is one of our favorite things to do. LOVE the adult only ones especially!

Had a great time on freedom last fall and sneaking off for a 4 day cruise in a couple weeks. If you go into anything expecting to be disappointed, you will be.

I cruise on this ship in 14 days. My first time on Freedom and I'm introducing 2 new people. Carnival is the bargain basement for cruise lines but hopefully my friends will like it. Try Royal Caribbean, they are the nicest in the area.
