Grand time on the Carnival Freedom by ssmack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Great trip, we had a great celebration of my parents 50th Anniversary!  My 8 year old LOVED Camp Ocean, could barely tear her away.  Pools on the ship are salt water, so be prepared, bring your goggles!  Grand food and fun waiters, you must step out of your comfort zone and try different kinds of food...we had wonderful escargot, tongue and much more!

Best ever! by vwebb

Enjoyed our 7 day cruise!!  Excursions were exciting...Honduras...little french key island with ziplining.  Belize...butts up cavetubing and ziplining.  Cozumel...Mr. Sanchos resort. We booked independently and NOT through Carnival.  I did my research and I felt safe in all 3 ports.  Thank you for letting us create lasting memories.

Vacation 2016, Outrun Colon. by Cruiser301

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise was great and the Captain and crew did a wonderful job of rearranging our itinerary to ensure we would make all three port calls. My first cruise I didn't have to work on (I am retired Navy) and I enjoyed every last bit of this cruise. Awesome experience and I hooked.

Wrong Cruise and Wrong Cruise Ship by robertsjanis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The "Windows" was a flop for embarkation.  They should have changed the policy due to the flooding in Galveston and everyone was arriving at incorrect times understandably.  Disembarkation was not announced appropriately and guessing was a major issue.

Our shower was clogged and was not taken core of even after letting our cabin steward be definitely aware of the problem.  We unknowingly were placed right above the Victoriana Theater with the second show not starting until 10:15 PM.  Loud and not good!

The ship was full so too many people for us.  We love children, but boy were tere a lot of them.

The weather was overcast the whole time, but Carnival obviously did not have control over that.  We just took this cruise for relaxation. Mistake!

Great trip and experience, all round by wendymeynert

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoyed the variety of on-board activities, the Shows every night, and the variety of music at various venues.  I also enjoyed the clean, comfortable and spacious cabin  (which I occupied by myself - but had to pay double the advertised twin-share price for, rather than a Single Supplement).  I also enjoyed the very comfortable King Sized bed, and especially the Balcony where I could sit out well into the early hours of the morning, just enjoying the fresh sea air, the roar of the waves beneath, and of course the millions of stars in the night sky. The service was also great - and the staff polite, friendly and helpful at all times - and of course, the variety of plentiful food, for which cruises are renowned.

Perfect vacation! by Jennifer918

Carnival did a fantastic job with everything! Best vacation so far. My kid loves the camp ocean and all their activities. Customer service was great! Love how personal the staff was. Only thing that I would like to see more of would of been trash cans around the ship.

Freedom 2016 by slscott

Our favorite Parr was the food and entertainment. Had a wonderful time, would recommend.  The staff made it a point to know your name and we're very attentive to needs.  Thy were all friendly and accommodating.  There was one rainy day at Port, I would suggest that Carnival plan rainy day activities to ensure there  is something to do.

2016 Carnival Freedom Cruise by MatthewSwain

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The best part of this curse was the food.  The Carnival Freedom certainly has a great cruise director -  Malcolm aka Mr Woo Hooo.  I equally enjoyed his presence every time he had an activity.  Although very awkward at first, eating with strangers for the fine dinning turned out to be a good experience.  I felt the entertainers other than the cruse director and the stage performers were not good.  The country singer made references to "Red Necks" and did not maintain a full audience.  The Jamaican singers were very skilled but left us with out music to enjoy at times. The music should have been consistent and most of the activities were at night.  It was clear the entertainment during the daytime was not well planned.    It would have been nice to have Jazz music in the pool areas.  Quite often there was no DJ playing music during the daytime hours.  Aside from the fighting going on three nights in a row keeping us awake at night,  the rooms exceeded my expectations along with the cleaning staff.  Special thanks to "YouLee".  I may never experience a better cleaning person in my lifetime.   Overall this was a great cruise.  Great Cruise...

Fun on the cruise by LadySailor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Hit a few unexpected bumps with the rain in Jamaica, so didn't get to go to the beach.  The cruise was fun though; my grandsons thoroughly enjoyed their time on the ship and in O2 club for teens.  I had a good time lying out on the Lido Deck, visiting the comedy club (an unusual occurrence for me) and dancing in the nightclub (although the amount of smoke in the nightclub limited my time there).  I enjoyed the Red Frog Pub and their draft of my favorite beer, Stella Artois.

Rowdy loud but fun by 12Livetotravel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

dont have high expectations of the food quality and service.   Just enjoy the total experience.  Really like the ship Freedom and it's open deck areas and entertainment venues.  This was the end of May  and there were a lot of loud  kids running around.

2nd Time Cruising with Carnival by rayshelle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I should have remembered that the "elegant" night would require my hubby to pack slacks.  He was turned away from the dining room because he was wearing shorts.  That was a bummer.

Also, the staff could have been friendlier.

The cruise overall was a good one.  All the ports of call was wonderful.  and the food on the ship was okay, but plenty of it. Had no issues and the entertainment was good.  I will cruise with carnival again.

i enjoyed the boat activities. The Lido was awesome. I appreciated the food options. My dinner servers Romel, and Arnel were nice. Very respectful. Our stewardess, Supri was great. He made the trip feel like home. We are about to book our next cruise. Hopefully its the Freedom. I loved it. Malcom was hilarious. Everyone on the cruise ship was so nice. They deserve a long break. It was sad to leave my new found friends but i canf wait until the next one. Thank you so much

Good overall with a few minor issues by bemmeupscotty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Boarding the ship in Galveston was chaotic from parking all the way through registration, My traveling partner is Canadian and was told she could not board the ship because the stamp on her passport was over 30 days old and therefore expired. (Canadian citizens can stay in the US for up to 180 days) we had to go three tiers of the supervisory ladder to get the correct law verified so she could board the ship which was unacceptable and just boils down to poor training.

Once aboard, we found the staff very fast, friendly and helpful and enjoyed our time from that point forward. see my pros and cons below:

Room Steward - FANTASTIC! couldn't have asked for better.

Food - Average at best, I realize Carnival's target market is family's with kids so they of course have to put out foods in the main areas that kids will eat but I found it a little much for my taste, too many greasy deep fried items on the main buffet as well as greasy burgers, pizza, etc. etc. as the alternatives during mid day.

Entertainment -  Very good, was quite impressed by the talent on board.

Steakhouse - Superb!, one of our most enjoyable and memorable experiences while on the ship.

Ports of Call - great! getting on and off the ship seemed very professional and  orderly.

Overall - Good experience! Food issues were during breakfast and lunch but got better at dinner. A special plug for the  the bar staff, they really kept the drinks coming and their mixology skills were excellent. - Cheers!

First Carnival Cruise by crk815

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I went on this cruise to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary that occurred in March 2016 and to celebrate my graduation from graduate school. This was our second cruise, first with Carnival. We had a wonderful time. The cruise director was awesome, energetic, entertaining, and informative. Our steward for our cabin was nice as well. He was very attentive to our room cleaning and always said hello to us when we left the room and came back to the room. Carnival is a laid back atmosphere cruise and very enjoyable.

First cruise by cjastorga9812

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Relaxing environment not having to worry about driving anywhere for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.   It was ready for you the only thing it needs more variations of food.  Also the restrooms were stinky and they would back up often like @ 4:30 am and sometimes even when no one was in the room.

Cruise line better organized than most with getting people on and off the ship. by kgann

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I had s better experience than I expected. I had been on a Carnival cruise before and found that the passengers were there biggest drawback. There is a certain element that use this cruise line that lack a complete respect for the captain, officers and other cruiseline employees as well for the other passengers on the ship. They were still there in their jean shorts and tank tops even on formal night in the formal dining room and their screaming kids were there as they were never taught how to behave in a formal setting. But the Carnival employees did their best to relocate you away from these monster children as they did with about 6 tables of passengers in my case and in spite of the lack of decorum from the East Texas hick crowds, they still provide excellent menus and service. I will use again. Only I will ask in advance to be seated away from the under 3 crowd. If I am able to leave small children in order to enjoy a vacation they should be able to do the same. They should not be allowed to ruin everyone's dining experience. Most parents do not put a small child through this. They would simply go to the Lido deck where the child could scream to his hearts content. But not the special back woods people you find on Carnival. Fortunately they are only about 50% of the passengers on these ships.

Great but fast by halesdonald

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise itself was nice but the time in port was just to short, only 7 hours which just isn't enough time to enjoy the excursion you felt rushed and worried that u wouldn't get back to the ship on time.  The comedy shows where great but the Broadway or musicals were just okay.  The even dinner was very nice the staff was awesome.  Our room was nice and our steward Wayne was very nice and did a top notch job on keeping our room clean and stocked with fresh towels.
