Fantastic vacation by Colley4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first crews. It was fabulous. I have never been on a vacation where I didn't have to do anything. The crew is fabulous, so kind and courteous. The food was good. Loved Half Moon Cay, Nassau....not so much, but had nothing to do with Carnival. Kevin Donohue is a fantastic crews director. He is hysterical and fun. The ship,(Elation) is an old ship and needs updates in certain areas, however very clean, and still very beautiful. We enjoyed the shows very much. There was always something to do on this ship. We will definitely be cruising again.

Kevin Sucks by boit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Kevin the cruise director led us to the basement saying he would get us off the ship much faster (apx. 5 min.) when we got to Half Moon Cay. We were ALL down there for about an hour as he just disappeared. Such integrity.

First Cruise...Success!!! by simmonsfamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Being our first cruise we were nervous, scared we would forget something or get lost in the Bahamas! Lol thanks to Theresa at CruiseOnly, everything went perfect! We were very pleased with everything she set up for us. We had our 14 yr old son and he had a friend along... These boys never slowed down. :) they made new friends from TN and GA ... The activities offered onboard kept them busy til 2-3am..... Lol. My husband and I had alone time to enjoy the casino, dancing, and a wonderful steak dinner for our anniversary. Bahamas was absolutely gorgeous... We spent the day in Nassau at Hilton Colonial resort.... Was the perfect choice!!!

We are already wanting to plan our next cruise.

Thanks Theresa for helping us make some memories of a lifetime.

Great first experience on a cruise by cphan3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first ever cruise and I was quite impressed by my experiences on Carnival Elation. Every single staff member had a smile on their face and acted as though they really enjoyed their job. Whenever I interacted with a staff member, they addressed me by my name, which I was thought really added to the experience. The ship was clean, the alcoholic beverages were delicious and fairly priced, and the entertainment was pretty good. There were many events planned for each day on the ship, but there were only a few that I was interested in attending. There were several odd events, such as the hairy chest competition and puffy eyes event for ladies.  I did not attend those, and did not quite understand why Carnival would add those as entertainment. As for the food, I think Carnival definitely could've done better. A lot of the food served in the dining room for dinner were poorly seasoned. The all-you-can-eat food on the Lido Deck was great for breakfast, but just average for lunch. Getting on and off the ship was easy and I never felt crowded by people.

Any vacation away from the office is a GREAT vacation by captsailor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first time booking a balcony.  I must say that I enjoyed it more than I anticipated.  Sure the Elation Is showing its age, but it's still nice. The shows were great - I loved the tribute to the Heart of Soul.  Food was delicious, at times the lines were long but hey we expected that.  Freeport was nicer than most of the reviews I read.  We took a bus into Port Lucayan to the public beach.  No charge unless you wanted to rent a chair and umbrella $10.  Water was very beautiful!  Nassau we stayed on the boat.  We wanted to enjoy the amenities of the boat while most were on the island.  It was nice.

buffet by daniellenora

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My only suggestion as an improvement for the cruise is that the food on the buffet line be hotter.  It was always just mildly warm, so that by the time you got to a table, it was cold.  Otherwise, the cruise was wonderful.

Great Anniversary Cruise by baynrecky

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We went as a couple to celebrate our 20th Anniversary.  It was the perfect way to celebrate!

We loved dining in the dining room every night.  We had a great group of people assigned to our table and we had fun trying all the food together every night.  The wait staff was one of the highlights of the trip.  They were awesome!  We had Gladdie, Dane, and I Made.

Half Moon Cay was so beautiful!  We could not believe how clear the water was!  We loved our day there!

There was always something fun going on during the cruise, and plenty of good food to eat.  We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!

A wonderful vacation by rimacourtom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We just returned from a wonderful vacation aboard Carnival's Elation and I have to tell you, it was the best vacation our family has ever had. We had a bit of a bumpy start in the planning process due to a death in our family and our Travel Agent, Sharman Carter, helped me make expedition reservations so efficiently. She even took the time from her own family vacation to help me with my planning issues. She also had a case of water bottles and pool toys waiting for us in our state rooms when we boarded the ship. I will definitely be using Sharman to plan our next vacation in Mexico. I would also like to give a big thank you to the on-board staff. Nelson, our dinner steward and Johnny, our state room steward...treated us like royalty. I just could not be more pleased with our trip. Thank you so much! Courtney Rima

It wasn't great, but I still enjoyed myself. by tkswayne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

If this was my first cruise, it would be nice. Since it's my 7th, it was ok. I wish they'd played Caribbean music on the boat, seeing that is was a Caribbean cruise.

I did not like that when we arrived at Half Moon Cay, the gift shop was closed. There is not much to do on the island and shopping would have been something else to do other than swimming.

My husband and I favorite part of the cruise was tour/time on The Bahamas island. My children loved Half-moon Cay and camp carnival. Small Ship, Big Fun by reynoldm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Carnival Elation is one of the smallest and oldest ships in the Carnival fleet, so don't expect to be impressed by the amenities. However, because it holds fewer passengers, it's friendlier and easier to get to know people. Staff and guests alike were very friendly, and everyone really seemed to have a good time. I would recommend this ship to anyone who places Fun over First Class.

Bahamas cruise by atchisondvm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise was a great time! Very little to complain about. The elation is a bit outdated, but who cares? It's vacation. If I was going to nit pick, I would say the dining staff should be more strict on dress code for dinners. They let people in wearing tank tops and hats, which, in my opinion is inappropriate for a nice cruise dinner. Snorkeling in Nassau is a must!

First Cruise Ever by tgiernie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first time on a cruise and will definitely do it again. Carnival has everything down to a science. Very well organized and orchestrated. Just a few disappointments. First, the food was good and delicious but it wasn't always hot. Secondly, there were vacuum cleaners and room attendant carts in the hallways and by luck next to my stateroom, this was very annoying. Finally, the photographers constantly taking photos was a bit much. I can see taking one the first day and maybe one on the elegant night but not every single event. I had a great time with my family and it was a great experience. I would recommend a Carnival cruise to anyone.
