Amsterdam

14 Night Great Alaskan Explorer (Seattle Roundtdrip)

Sail date: July 15, 2019

Ship: Amsterdam

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

Nice ship, with an exceptional 14 day itinerary. Great ports of call, excursions are weather dependent and no one can control the weather, but we were very disappointed about not being able to do our dog mushing expedition to a glacier. Demographics are skewed towards elderly scooter riding walker using grandparents.

Embarkation

Superb entertainment

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
not really a kids destination (Alaska), there were a total of 17 kids ages 13-17 on the ship but for some strange reason only 6 ever attended the club activities. Geriatric cruise with median age of 65...

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
exceptional service

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ships design shows it's age but always spotless

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Inside cabin larger than other cruise lines (182 sq ft) comfortable, but dated. Who still rents dvds?

Ship tip

not for kids
