I really like this cruise, the food, the crew attention, always cleaned areas.  I enjoy my trip a lot.  I prefers this best than Carnival.  The crew are very friendly.

Family vacation by OLFERN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My experience overall with RC was very good.  I have been 3 times on the same ship.  Dining room service - royal treatment by waiters, chefs cooking, etc.  (Little bit less sugar on the desserts)  First time experience with toddler Program (Aquanuts) and it was very good.  My child (and I) absolutely loved Miss Deisy.  Excellent employee.  The meals were very good.  Should have a better variety of desserts at formal dining (like years ago).  Surprisingly, Windjammer had more variety of everything.  Shows are good, but should be updated (they are the same as they were 8 yrs ago - the first time I went). Other cruise personnel should be more service oriented like the staff at the dining room.  Was told to leave from beauty seminar because my child was playing with the exercise ball way in the back.  Used the medical service and the doctor was in a rush (and they are expensive)  Experience at Dolphin tour great - recommend, experience at Barbados tour not what expected.  Turned out to be almost all panoramic.  Overall, enjoyed myself, thank you for great vacation.  Thank you Prakash, Sonny, Stafford, Ligorio and Keithley at room service for helping me out with my child.  Wouldn't have been as great without you guys.  Will miss you.  Happy with RC, but no so with PLine.

Great Island Line Up by flkeys2000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

So I will preface this with I am not really a cruise person as much as a destination traveler.  I don't attend shows because they seem hokey to me and I don't gamble.

That being said, the ship was clean and in great shape.  Our dining staff and room attendant were top notch; food was great; drinks were tasty; getting on and off the ship went with out a hitch.

Only one day at sea and we woke up in a new port everyday there after.  The southern Caribbean is excellent and we had a great time on excursions we booked on our own and not thru the ship to save a few bucks.

Barbados - Antigua - St Lucia - St Maarten - St John - St Croix!!!  It doesn't get much better then that.

Paradise! by dsdmk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our first cruise with Royal Caribbean and it was great.  We have sailed with Carnival and other lines before.  RCL has a promenade and ice skating rink which was a nice experience.  The ship was always clean in every area.  You never noticed crowds and deck chairs were easy to get.  We did miss the outdoor grill by the pool that Carnival has and also the sandwich and Mexican stations (the grill allowed you to get food in your bathing suit without getting covered up).  The shows were not the best but think this is the norm on smaller ships.  The staff was excellent, food was okay nothing spectacular and you had to pay extra for fillet mignon which you don't have to on Carnival.  The ports are why we chose this cruise, it is a great itinerary!  Overall we had a great time and never really felt any motion, smooth sailing!  We were on deck 2 and it was so quiet!

Adventure Of The Seas 4/19/15 by LynneFMason

Charlie - Our Stateroom Keeper could not have been more nice. We did leave an extra tip. Wency & his helper, were the absolute best @ knowing our names, after hearing them once. They knew exactly what drinks we wanted & due to our son's habit, brought out his favorite appetizer nightly, w/out question... They were amazing. This cruise was the best we have experienced & is our 4th... Would do RCI again, in a heart beat! Love the seamless transitions & ease of excursions & getting back on board. Dr. Illiana is the sweetest woman phycisian I've met, thus far. She is very knowledgeable & I heard from her great friend, that tinted my lashes, I was her best customer, to date. We just clicked!!! Hugged her, when I saw her. The staff over all were very squared away & w/The Ebola issue, there were attendants @ every restaurant, dispensing, to insure, we all cleaned, in addition to the stations.... Great time & highly recommend! Thank You, for such a great experience! Beats Carnival, hands down!!! Honestly would not change a thing! Sincerely, Lynne Mason

Enjoyed all the ports by babs0339

Our waiter went up and beyond his call of duty.  I will tell you he made the trip for us.  He made us feel as family.  Andre' De Pinho is one reason we will go back to Royal.  Royal always have the best food.  Great staff.  Great activities.

Overall positive experience by houghts

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We got off to a bad start when our bags were searched as we boarded and two 1/2 bottles of Scotch were confiscated.  This being only our second cruise ever, we were not aware of the rule against bringing any alcohol aboard the ship, and it was never brought to our attention before we boarded.  We were 'punished' by having to wait nearly eight hours for our bags to reach our stateroom - long after the ship had set sail and all our fellow travelers had received theirs.  We did get the bottles back at the end of the cruise, but then only after some confusing and wrong information at the guest services desk.

Our stateroom was a decent size, with a comfortable balcony (room for two chairs and a table) on a quiet cul-de-sac at the front of the ship.  Everything was clean and functional, with plenty of closet and drawer space.  Water in the bathroom sink was always warm - not good for brushing teeth but otherwise OK.  The PA system in the room did not provide the periodic ship's announcements, only 'elevator music", so we had to hold the door open to hear them.

We had chosen the 'MyTime' dining option, which worked reasonably well although we often had to wait several minutes to get a table even when you could see a half empty dining room.  Other than our final night, we had dinner each night in the Mozart Room which was very pleasant and service was good without making us feel rushed.  DInner usually lasted about two hours.  Our first night was not a good meal at all.  Salads came drowned in too much dressing, and my pork chop was terribly overcooked and barely edible.  It had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time.  The second night was a little better (we moved to a table on the other side of the room and the service was noticably better).  However, the fish entree was disgusting - no taste and tough as shoe leather with lots of freezer burn.  It was then that we found out that the serving staff are more than willing to take such items back, provide alternatives and even find things that are not on the menu if you speak up and complain.  From then on the food got a lot better!  Salads and soups were first rate, and entrees like rack of lamb and lobster tails were exceptional.  For our final night, we went to Giovanni's Table, the upscale Italian-style restaurant on board -food and service were first class.  One final comment on food - the breakfasts were mediocre at best.  Getting crispy bacon and dry toast was almost impossible, and the 'regular' serving of scrambled eggs (using powdered eggs, for sure) was tasteless.  Again, as long as we were prepared to complain and make very specific requests (and not just order what was on the menu) things got a lot better.

We did not use the shore excursion services on the ship but preferred to find our own way around.  This worked out better - we got to see more of each island and make changes to plans rather than being locked in to a set tour.  In general we paid about the same or a little less than the planned tours, without having to haggle over price with taxi drivers.

Entertainment on the ship was good - shows each night in the Theatre varied in quality with the music being aimed at the older audience with mostly "Vegas-style" song/dance routines.  There was plenty of choice of places to go in the evenings - not just a casino, karaoke bar or British-style pub, but also a disco/night club, ice rink and quieter lounge/bars.

Walking around the ship, I heard about 50/50 of English and other (mainly Spanish) languages.  This surprised me as they told us on the first night that based on nationalities when everyone checked in, a little over 3,000 of the 3,600 passengers were from the US/Canada. SInce the ship's home port is in Puerto Rica, we assume that a lot of passengers came from there.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN IS BACK by rayack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I HAVE TRAVELED WITH ROYAL CARIBBEAN FOR THE PAST 7 YRS AND 2013 AND 2014 SERVICE HAD DECAY PRETTY MUCH DUE TO THE NEW SHIPS THAT CAME OUT AND  THAT EXPERIENCED PERSONNEL WAS MOVED TO THE NEWER SHIPS, BUT I AM PLEASED TO SAY THAT MY 2015 CRUISE WAS BACK ON TRACK. MY BIGGEST COMPLAIN IS THE !8% GRATUITY, ALWAYS AUTOMATIC, ADDED TO WHATEVER I BOUGHT ON THE SHIP AS DRINKS, WATER, SPA SERVICES, JOHNNY ROCKETS, REASON IS THAT A GRATUITY IS SOMETHING EXTRA WHICH IS MEASURED BY THE SERVICE RECEIVED NOT A OBLIGATION OR AS ROYAL PUTS LIKE MORE OF A TAX. THE OTHER THING IS THAT WHEN U REQUIRE A DRINK OR A PAID SERVICE THERE ARE NO PRICES IN PLAIN VIEW TO CHOOSE  OR EVEN ARE TOLD THE COST YOU WILL FIND OUT  AFTER U RECEIVE THE BILL AND HAVE TO SIGN FOR , THEY SAY U SHOULD ASK FIRST, SO I RECOMMEND U TRAVELERS ALWAYS ASK FOR PRICE AND THEIR HIDDEN COSTS  BEFORE ORDERING OR RECEIVING ANY EXTRA SERVICES.

Adventure Cruise by dlcarignan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We went on the Royal Caribbean's Independence in 2014 and I thought that was a little better as far as the stateroom decks appearance (they could also open to the next room which would have been helpful for us this year because we had 4 rooms right next to each other).  The Windjammer also seemed a lot more crowded this year compared to last year.  All of the activities on the ship this year were top notch including the poolside contests and especially the dance workouts!  All of the shows on board were excellent for 2014 and 2015.  The dining room staff and all of the bartenders were exceptional for both years.  We only had one bad experience with one of our excursions, the kayaking in Curaçao for which I intend on writing a bad review and do not fault Royal Caribbean.  Overall, it was a great trip for both years and I would recommend it highly.

Aventura excelente en el mar by orcinuspr98

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Adventure of the Seas Cruise by MPizzicannella

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Took a cruise 2 year ago on one of Royal Caribbean's newer ship and was spoiled with the size and decor and shopping options.  The cabins were very cleaned but small for a balcony and Mo who took care of us was awesome.  The staff for the main dinning room, Alibino and Julio were out of this world as well as the staff in the Windjamer.

The staff on board was amazing !!!! by vtecdohc97

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I loved the cruise and had a great time on board.. The cruise itself was a very family oriented cruise and somewhat slow paced for my taste. What made this cruise an excellent experience for me was the crew that tended me everyday, such as the cabin steward. The cabin steward name was "Nino" this is a nickname because I forgot his actual name and lost his card. Nino tended to my room everyday and cleaned it spotless for me, He did a great job and should be recognized for it. My dining expierence was unmatched by other cruises I have cruised on. My waitress and her assitant were probably the best two to have in the enitre dining hall. They both met my needs at every point of my dining, they were polite and courteous. They were very attentive and I was never in need of anything at all. They worked very well together !!! My waitress was Susana Ruiz and she is from Peru and took time to speak with us and made us feel very comfortable. She was very knowledgable on all the plates that were being served every night. She checked in at our table frequently to make sure we weren't in need of anything. The assistant waiter was Simone Fernandes and words cannot explain his energy and enthusiasm. Simone would always have a smile and show us tricks while eating our dinner. He will truly be missed !! It was very sad to say good bye to such an amazing person. Simone was very high paced and had tons of energy and waited on 3 - 4 tables at a time and did this with perfection. Also our beverage waiter was Ryan Gibbs and was also an amazing person who never left our side and was always asking if we needed another drink. Ryan was also very attentive to our needs and our comfort, He made jokes and rhymes' that would make us laugh. Overall the crew that attended to us made this cruise a wonderful one. Kudos to them !!! I would cruise on the Adventure of the Seas again if I could have the same staff this time. Great Job Guys !!!!!

Nice stops by gallat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Sea is a nice ship but a bit too big for me. Too loud also. I was on a smaller ship before and liked it better. The main deck was just like a mall. Also, there was no nice piano bar with a soft music playing. It was more oriented on the people who love to shop and party. It was not easy no find your way, not enough elevators and if your room is not in the middle of the ship you had to walk a lot. The crew was wonderful, room clean and big. Café had a lot of people and I found that it didn't have a variety of food, fruits and vegetables. Restaurant was very nice and our table server was amazing. I loved the Ports we stayed in and the fact that we stopped at a new port every day.

Adventure of the Seas by denisebahs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Excellent vacation! Comparing to the Oasis, the ship is smaller, but still large enough to not feel cooped up. It seemed much less crowded than the Oasis. This ship is older and feels a bit dated, but very clean. The food was awesome. We loved the itinerary and would love to visit St. Maarten again someday. The staff was top notch. Everyone very friendly and helpful.

Everything good but the food by kwasnieski

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Nice ship, great service, very good entertainment.  The quality and variety of the food offerings were a major disappointment.  We had a better meal on our flight home from San Juan than any meal we ate on board the ship.  Let that sink in for a moment ....... airline food better than cruise ship food.

good itinerary, marginal food by hazle891

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship is not up to other Royal Caribbean ships with only one specialty restaurant and marginal food in the main dining room.  Even lunch is the dining room was not anything interesting.  We went to the one specialty restaurant and it was very good. Food overall, disappointing.  Itinerary was very good.  Cabin service very good.

Adventure of the Seas review by pamelbers559

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We just returned from sailing on the AOS (Adventure of the Seas)  from March 22-29 (2014) We had a Balcony Cabin, which we loved staying in! It's an older ship, but has been freshened up and we found it really nice. This was our 6th cruise on various lines and we had no major complaints with this ship. The Cabin attendant (Robert) was great, and we really enjoyed our Waiter's (Desmond and Camy) The reason we decided to book this ship was the itinerary!!!  We had 5 island stops and only 1 sea day!  We love exploring lots of ports/islands!!

Great time with friends but would not recommend Royal Caribbean by roanne85

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

had a great time with the friends but overall the Carnival cruise line is more fun than the Royal Caribbean.  No dancing waiters, hardly any towel animals, poor food quality and quantity.  will not travel RC again
