Could Be Better by SharonM9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Melody (RETIRED) 498 / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was old, but very clean. Most of the staff were very friendly. The dining staff could use some more training. The food was average. Not what I expected from an Italian cruise line. I didn't gain any weight, in fact, I lost six pounds. I think that is from all of the walking. I didn't go hungry, but I could have eaten more. I heard the same remarks from other passengers. More work needs to be done on the tours. The Tunis shopping tour was pure entrapment. The walking was unbelieveable. Buses could be waiting as you come from the ship to take you to your destination for the tours. This happened on one tour. Others we had to walk and walk before we even got to our transportation to start a tour. I will look for other cruise lines in the future.

a spectacular cruise by NancyL8

Sail date: /
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was our first cruise. My husband was a little skeptical before the trip. He said during the cruise that he would be afraid to take another trip because there would be no way to match this one and we would be very disappointed. I think that says it all. I have told people that this trip was spectacular and that there weren't enough positive adjectives to describe it!!!!

"Fabulous Family Memories" by GlennaH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Concordia (RETIRED) 548 / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was great. The reviews that I read before I left were a bit disappointing. I found the ship to be clean, the staff friendly and the food more than adequate.Even us Americans could find something that we liked although one should not go to Europe looking for an American experience, you won't find it. I would definitely sail with Costa again. The embarkation as well as the disembarking was the best I've ever experienced on any cruise line. Our family of 8 made memories that are priceless. Thanks Costa for a marvelous week. Looking forward to future sailings. GCH

Horrible Service for a premium cruise by SamR2

The ship is really quite large and well designed. Lots of room for walking around and generally a very open and airy feeling in the promenade area

Great Ports, Entertainment Lacking by AshleyM5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We would recommend this ship if you are booking solely for the ports of call, as Costa is an Italian cruise line with mostly European guests (which we knew of in advance). As a result, all evening shows, entertainment, comedians, etc. were performed in Italian, leaving us to seek fun in the casino and disco most evenings. However, the ports of call were amazing and being in a new place had us in bed fairly early most nights to be ready for the next day's adventures.

"Not a Restful Vacation...." by CarolB11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This cruise was not restful, lots of travel just to get to the ports of call-because Rome is inland, you need to take a train-which is an hour long trip; same for Nice and Cannes. The destination trips are too long-they range from 8hrs to 10hrs long-add more 4-5 hour long ones into the choices.

It could be better. by MaryB24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Concordia (RETIRED) 548 / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was beautiful but the plan made it difficult to find the areas. I think more maps of the plan need to be posted. Our cabin with balcony was large and very comfortable as was the bath. I thought the personel did very well considering the crowded conditions and the rudeness of many of the passengers. I think the ship caters to the average European family and some less classy types of tourists. Of course there were lovely people on board too.. There were many children and sometimes they played in the halls late at night. The noise level was high. The food was not great but seem to improve as the week went on. I really appreciated having a chapel and masses on the ship.

Relaxing time in the Mediterranean by JayK1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Concordia (RETIRED) 548 / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

If you're going on a trip to meet new people and interact with everyone on board, then this is not the perfect cruise for you. Out of 3000 passengers, there were 140 English speaking passengers. The Italian passengers were always really nice, would offer glasses of wine and we all did great making hand gestures, but it didn't make for great conversation. We would recommend this cruise for a couple that likes to be alone together.

Relaxing cruise by Anab

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We had heard some great things about this ship so I was really excited to find out just HOW big it was. It was grande and massive. Having cruised on other ships and lines I would have to say that the layout was not as user friendly as some of the other ships. After a day and a half I got used to finding my way around and it was worthwhile.

Adequate cruise by AmyB13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Musica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship itself was very nice and very clean. I was disappointed that you had to pay for a lot of what they offered. For example, they had a Gelato bar, but you had to pay for it (on Caribbean cruises they have a 24 x 7 ice cream machine, so the kids were disappointed). You could only get juice with breakfast; the rest of the time you had to pay for it (on Caribbean cruises they always have something other than water and coffee to drink with your meal that you don't have to pay for). The food wasn't very flavorful, but I'm used to the fanastic meals that are on the Caribbean cruises. The dining room wait staff weren't friendly, unlike what you find on the Caribbean cruises. The itinerary was excellent. I liked the fruit bowl the replenished every night. The English movie channel didn't work on this particular ship. Our kids didn't attend the kids program because no one spoke English. To use the exercise facilities, you had to pay extra, which you don't have to do on the Caribbean cruises. The 2nd seating for dinner was too late. It was at 9:15pm. The buffet dining room closed at 2:30, so there is quite a long time between meals if you are 2nd seating. They did have a tea and cookie hour, but we were typically not getting back on the ship until after the tea and cookie hour had closed, so we had to buy snacks to tie us over until dinner. Overall, I rated the cruise as adequate, because even though I've listed some cons, I felt very safe, the rooms were clean, etc.

Too good to be true! by TennilleV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My overall impression of the ship was "WOW"! Very beautiful and clean. The staff was very friendly and went well beyond the call of duty to make our vacation memorable and fun. The cabin was very spaciaouse and I noticed that the beds were much more comfortable then the last time we cruised. The night club on the Voyager was top notch. There is a secret entry way - you can only open the entrance with the palm of your hand. Decorated like a sci-fi movie set, the jams and the drinks were fantastic. I loved the mini golf course on top of the ship as well as the ice skating rink below. So much stuff to keep you busy it's way too hard to be bored.

What a vacation! by RebeccaH9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The cruise was great from start to finish. Our room exceeded our expectations. I love cruises because I love not have to doing any cleaning or cooking, or searching for a somewhere to get something to eat. The whole being served instead of serving aspect accounts for at least 60% of the awesomeness (if that's a word) of cruising. Everything is taken care of for me. The itinerary was excellent, but we didn't really have enough time to do everything, so we'll just have to go again!

Breathe Taking by Jcf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We had a great time, and loved the layout and cleanliness of the ship. There were numerous activities for the kids. Often we find very few activities for teens, but this ship kept them busy. We were sad to see that the juices and punch were no longer free. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The food once again, outstanding and a large variety. We were also sad to see the room size as well as the storage size to put our garments. The life vest took up half of the room. Other than that we will be back

FANTASTIC VACATION! by ChristinaS4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

It was wonderful service. The bartenders were wonderful! The Guest Relations Team could have been a bit nicer. Our room had a sink that was clogged and we were on hold with Maintenance and also with Guest Relations to no avail. It wasn't until we had to get a bit upset that they decided we needed assistance and the result was a bit retroactive as opposed to proactive. The response for the lengthy delay in fixing the issue was that there were other rooms that had priority over ours. That should not be any of my concern. Simply tell me how you are going to help. Other than that it was GREAT! Jean from Housekeeping was WONDERFUL!

Honeymoon Cruise by JeremyC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The intinerary was good, but it would have been nice to visit the whole mediterranean (Turkey, Greece, and Israel in particular). Each stop was too brief. It would have been nice to have more time to visit in each port (possibly an overnight stay).

Incredible Cruise by NicolaM1

The ship was beautiful, spacious and clean. The overall impression was one of luxury - the ship was a floating palace. The staff were helpful and there was so much to do and enjoy on the ship. It was very sad to leave.

An amazing first experience by SarahT1

I have to say that I went into this trip expecting very little since this was my first time on a cruise. I was so amazed at my time on board Voyager of the Seas - everything from the people to the food to the stateroom were first rate.

European medley by JM186162603

Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was the second time we sailed on the Voyager of the Seas, and I didn't think it was possible to get any better. We had a lovely outside room with a balcony.I much prefer traveling on board ship to staying in Hotels, It was so nice to get on board, put our clothes away and not have to live out of our suitcases or repack every time we were in a new location. We were in France and Italy and enjoyed both very much thanks to the wonderful excursions that were available to us.We enjoyed the wonderful food at Portofino's and the excellent buffet at the Windjammer. The food in the main dinning room was excellent as always. Every one on board was polite, courteous and very friendly even if they wern't assigned to our section. I've never had a more relaxed trip and would never consider traveling the "old way" again. Thanks for making everything so comfortable for all of us.
