Disney is the first cruise line to put lifeguards at their pools. Should other cruise lines follow suit? What do you think? Might Carnival want to do the same?

Should Cruise Ships Have Lifeguards?

Though I appreciate the sentiment, it wasn't my loss. I had never met the girl. Sorry if that was implied. I used to see my friend when we were both working st the WTC.
No words will do.
I'd read that article and was doubly saddened by the multiple losses that family has suffered ... sorry for your loss BAK1061 ...
There is a story on Yahoo about a girl who died, choking, during a pancake eating contest. I was going to make a veiled reference about how lifeguards still wouldn't be able to protect everyone, referencing this tragedy. See, on FV we joked about everything. Reports of someone falling off a ship were met with " dumbass "
Then I read the story.
The girls father died in the 9/11 attacks. Port Authority PD
Then they gave her name.....and my heart damn near stopped !
It was my friend and former team mates daughter.
So, no dark humor here. It will wait for another day.
'Just had to get that off my chest
That's so sad :(

I understand the concept of lifeguards. I think banning all kids from cruising is a better idea.
Now you know that that is not going to happen.
I am afraid that you are right about this.
"irresponsible parents/guardians, people who get so stinking drunk they can't tell they are face-down in water or people with known health conditions that push their limits ending in a medical emergency situation."
All I can say to this is Darwin................
NO! NONONONONONONONONONONO!
take a vacation with your kids, not from them
So, I guess that your answer is NO?
I think Carnival would be assuming a huge liability if they hire lifeguards. Parents are the ones who should be watching their kids. IMHO, if a cruiseline adds any safety measure at the pool, it should be banning those younger than 13 (or older would be fine by me) from the pool unless they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
I agree.
