Would you be tempted to book an inside cabin now that some newer ships on RCCL and Disney have virtual balcony rooms? These staterooms have big TV screens that give the impression of floor to ceiling windows.

Virtual Balcony Staterooms

Good for you JohnGold! I'd love to see this type of room. Should you ever book one, please send us photos! We'd all enjoy seeing them.
I have seen the technology, and yes, sounds are included. I was in a seminar where they had an entire wall that showed a view of a city, with traffic sounds and everything. Quite the idea. I want to try one of those rooms.
It would be nicer then a regular inside cabin. I do not spend enough time in the cabin for this to be worth any extra $. I like a balcony for the fresh air and the sound of the sea splashing against the ship. I tend to book inside if it is a short cruise or cruse with a port each day.
I would like the virtual balcony if it also had the sound of the ocean splashing on the ship.
I can just picture someone's head bouncing off the virtual glass door because they forgot they have an inside cabin.
It seems gimmicky to me and it is not a cabin type that I would book. Perhaps parents who book a balcony would place their teens in a cabin like this if it were across the hall.
I doubt that I would ever book this type of stateroom but I hate to say that I never would. I have booked staterooms on RCCL that look out onto the ship but not out to the ocean and they were fine. One looked out on the Central Park neighborhood and the other looked out to the Boardwalk neighborhood. I would love to view the virtual balcony rooms on a ship tour. Seeing the rooms that I did book on RCCL on a ship tour did entice me to book. If you usually book an inside cabin, would you move up to this category?
