We could turn in soda bottles to get the deposit money.

The Blue Laws in Massachusetts seemed to take forever to finally get passed.

Remember when you purchased something it was stamped "Made In the U.S.A."

Note: Sears has announced the closing of about 80 more K Mart stores. K Mart no longer has the cash, nor access to cash to remain in business much longer.

More jobs disappearing that won't come back. Funny, I keep hearing these politicians talk about job creation. All the while, companies are finding ways to eliminate the human factor in the name of progress ( and profit ). Where are these jobs coming from ? Pretty soon, your fast food fries will be automated , and not available due to servicing or breakdown ( sorry for the inconvenience. Here is a coupon good on your next visit. Have a nice day )

My MIL had Melmac dishes when hubby and I got married. Our first x-mas together he couldn't wait to give her a set of Corelleware (sp.) and get rid of the dreaded green print Melmac dishes of his childhood! There were 6 kids, mostly boys, so I know she just wanted something that could stand up to the troops! lol

ref Sears - totally agreed, I worked for sears a long time ago managing their paint department, ahem weatherbeater and easy living paint gone, paint department gone. in sears that we live, 25 % of the 2nd floor has mattresses on it...

Better stock up. Macy's , Sears, K-Mart, JC Penney, and several others may not be around much longer. Last time we were at a Sears it was a ghost town. No shoppers, no sales people came over to help us. The best thing I can say about Sears happened about 14 years ago. We were headed over to the Jefferson Valley Mall to get a part for the lawn tractor, when we went into the pet store nearby. We ended up getting not only the part, but our puppy, a Shiba Inu we named Roscoe. My FV friends know him well as he was my avatar over there. Anyway, Sears is either negotiating or has already sold the names Craftsman and Kenmore. Without those, Sears is nothing.

I also remember getting place settings at the service stationsHappy

I thought I posted,, if I did sorry,

I remember

the 3 channels on our B/W tv, us kids were the remotes there were 3 restaurants in town, now there are 20 in a town of 2800 people sitting with my dad and the older men drinking an ice cold coke with salted peanuts in it listening to the men talking about hunting, politics etc at the store across the road from my parents (no one would think of robbing the place, since the owner always sit at the cash register with his hand on a sawed off double barrel on a hanger just out of sight) the dishes at the grocery stores you bought with store points,, not green stamps (but we had those too)

great memories everyone!

Brian

I still will buy the perfume at a store like Macy's to get the even better bonus item for "Free."
