Carnival - Best Value for the Money

No surprise here that Florida Today reported that Carnival was named Best Value For the Money by a major online cruise consumer publication. It recognized its frequent fare sales, host of dining and entertainment options and obviously it's low base prices. Even with low prices, it still delivers a great vacation. Cabin prices can be as low as $75 pp per day. I know that I have sailed for $55 pp per day on their shorter cruises. These shorter cruises make cruising affordable for families.

The short cruises on any cruise line are probably rowdy.

I sailed on the Carnival Breeze on its first transatlantic voyage and it was a wonderful experience. The crew was top notch, the food was delicious and the passengers were well behaved. It was a 14 night cruise. Carnival really does have the best prices. I have only been less than thrilled on the short 3-5 day ones and I don't take them anymore.

I really think this depends on what the customer defines as valuable.

Carnival does a great job of putting out a product of descent quality for a reasonable price. I do some of the 3 and 4 night cruises with friends that can not take a one month trip like I prefer. I"m always happy for a mini cruise for just a fun quick inexpensive get away.

You are right about this. I no longer take those three, four or even five day cruises that I used to take as last minute deals at very low prices. They are just party cruises. I recommended to neighbors that they take the short cruise that they wanted on RCCL, instead. Guess what? They had the same complaints about heavy drinking, loud yelling in the passage ways, passengers running down hallways, late night noise of TV and partying. But at least families who can't afford a longer cruise can take one of these shorter ones and enjoy it. Not for me, though. Thanks for responding. It is always fun to hear from you.

Although Carnival does have "Wal-Mart" prices, they make a serious, and somewhat successful, effort to deliver a high-value product.

Unfortunately, their discount prices tend to attract "Wal-Mart" clientele.

The last Carnival Cruise I took, the only serious complaint I had all had to do with other passengers -- people running up and down the hall shouting, lack of elevator and line etiquette, etc.

I had not noticed this problem on Princess, and I hope to miss it on Celebrity next year.

Although we usually cruise on Celebrity, we're currently booked on a Carnival cruise because the price and the timing worked for us. Since it's a 15-day cruise, we probably won't run into too many Walmartians.
