I have been going on cruises since high school, and I absolutely love them and wish I could go on more. I have a youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM90AD1vExbxLjgy0el0kwQ/videos, that shows a lot of the cruises I have been on but not all. I am going to update that to continue telling people about my cruising experiences!!!

Past cruises

Norwegian Spirit

December 2015 - 14-Night Eastern And Western Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

Small Ship, But Good Cruise

We had a great time. However, there are some things that were not so amazing because the ship is the oldest and smallest of the NCL fleet. For example, there was a lot more smoking than one would want, there were not a lot of different areas at night for varying types of entertainment, the engine was loud and shaky and palpable from the Windows Dining Room, and overall there were just not that many different spaces. On the flip side, because it was an older ship, while it did not have the new amenities like water slides or a ropes course (like the Breakaway and other newer ships, it did have a very nice promenade, and a fantastic lounge called Galaxy of the Stars. This is a great place to catch a game show or even just lounge during the day while looking out on the ocean!

Really Nice Ship: A Little Small

This is a really nice ship that has a lot of really good benefits. Because it is a medium sized ship, the crew really gets to know you, and there are not always big lines for most things. However, on the flip side, there is little onboard that makes this ship stand out. Unlike NCL's new ships, there is no water slide, ropes course, etc. Regardless, the ship is really nice, and the highlights of it were the large balcony and the atrium. The low points would include the show Elements, that the cruise line so highly promotes, because it just seemed really underwhelming. Additionally, the buffet is a little strange in the layout of it. Even with these downfalls of the ship itself, we had an amazing cruise because the crew was fantastic, the ports of call were amazing, and an overall really nice ship! Norwegian Breakaway

July 2013 - 7 Night Bermuda (New York roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

HUGE AND CROWDED SHIP

I do not think I have ever waited on lines for so long. If you are going on this cruise, be prepared to do this. While it is great to have so many amazing opportunities at your fingertips such as multiple water slides, a ropes course and plenty of other new things, don't expect to have unlimited access. When we wanted to do the ropes course, we had to wake up really early to the first ones online, otherwise we would have wasted the rest of our day waiting online. When you want to go to dinner, we totally needed a reservation every night. It is nice that there are so many complementary options of where you can eat though because it means that the setting never gets boring (although the food does get a little boring). The theater is very nice onboard as well, although I wish there were more than like two times I was in and that there were more variety types of shows like on a traditional, smaller cruise ship. While this entire review might seem bad, the ship overall really is nice. The buffet area and all the common spaces really are very modern and beautifully done, and this ship is probably no different than any other large ship (btw- the crew does not become that personal either). We really did have an amazing experience, but do know this because it will make your expectations more realistic. Take a look at our overall experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7momJhjAIc

July 2010 - 7 Night Greek Isles (Venice roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Gem

Great Cruise

This was such an amazing cruise because of the itinerary especially! The ship itself though was also really nice. The theater was state of the art and really amazing, the pool deck was very nice and expansive, and the crew was really helpful and nice. The shows were really top quality, and as my first experience with freestyle cruising, this was a great introduction to NCL. he things lacking on this ship though are some of the newer things that NCL has, such as an entire water park (at the time this ship only had one water slide), a ropes course, and some other newer features. Having said that, this was an amazing experience on a truly beautiful ship!

Serenade of the Seas

August 2008 - 7 Night Alaska Hubbard Glacier (Vancouver roundtrip) Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

Amazing Time

Had a great time on this cruise. The ship is really nice and the crew were fantastic!!! The food was always great in every restaurant, and the crew all got to my name from our servers to stewards. The ship has plenty of activities such as mini-golf to a rock wall and a lot of nice public rooms onboard. The best part of the ship is the main atrium which is grand, elegant and just jaw-dropping! Really nice shows as well!

Cruise tips

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

Don't forget your jacket! Standing outside in the cold is worth it, but you will want those gloves!!!

Serenade of the Seas

Serenade of the Seas

While it is cold outside, this ship has a really nice indoor pool that is well worth using!!!

Norwegian Spirit

Norwegian Spirit

It is a small ship, so take advantage of every spot you can find. I love reading in the Galaxy of the Stars and just looking out the windows and at the bridge.

Belize City, Belize

Make sure you plan tours accordingly because the tender service here is provided by locals and is less consistent than the cruise line.

Serenade of the Seas

Serenade of the Seas

Its really fun to go to the solarium when its empty and use that pool because it is so relaxing and just like your own private wavepool!

Norwegian Breakaway

Norwegian Breakaway

Tip: If you want no lines on the pool deck for the water slides and an open pool, spend one of your port days onboard when most people are off the ship. One of the best days was that day because we had the ship to ourselves during the day, and then we saw a great Second City performance that night!!

Santorini, Greece

If you are willing to be terrified, try riding up on the donkey. Otherwise, don't be afraid to play it safe- you will probably regret it otherwise....:)

Corfu, Greece

OMG IT WAS SO HOT THIS DAY!!! We could barely stay off the ship for an hour. The bus ride to the city was crowded and burning, and all we wanted to do was get back and be in the pool.

Split, Croatia

I absolutely loved this city!!! We had a private tour for a few hours of the ruins, and this has become for me a hidden gem in Europe that many do not get to see!

Norwegian Gem

Norwegian Gem

When you first board, you enter through a mini-atrium that is really nice. When I went, they also were giving out little cocktails to welcome you, so be sure to grab one!!!

New Orleans, Louisiana

It was cool cruising the Mississippi River on the first night and passing the entire city on the way out! Also, we took a tour of the city on the day we came back for a few hours. Here were the highlights!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBbAVqfv3cI

Belize City, Belize

While the port here is a little bland (although you can walk around it for a little while), you are probably going to want to see more of the city. If so, take the train tour because it really gives you a quick and good idea of what Belize is about. Also, they give you some plantain chips to eat! Take a look!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8XZPP9MzYM

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We had an amazing day here. The port itself is really nice if you want to go and just walk around. However, we went on a trip to Mayan Ruins that was really fantastic! Take a look at the details! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9iQX5H9PmA

Cozumel, Mexico

We went to a beach resort for the day. It was a great experience even though the food was pretty bad. They did have nice water slides, pools, beaches and a lot of great activities available for us to use on the water (such as kayaking and mini-sailboats.

Norwegian Dawn

Norwegian Dawn

We never had an issue with getting pool chairs, which is an issue you have on larger ships. Note though, that because it is not a larger ship, you have fewer dining (both free and paid) options.
