Norwegian Dawn

May 2013 - Norwegian Dawn to Bermuda

Mothers Day at Sea.

4th crusie, this time spent with my daughter, son in law and young grandson.  We choose this crusie because it docked in Bermuda for 3 days and thought that would be easier for my young grandson.  The first day was great we walked off, took the local pink bus to Horseshoe Bay Beach which was very cheap.  The beach was great, the waves in the main part were high and fast great for grown ups and older children, but there was a lagoon which was great for the little guy.  Only down fall which was our fault, was the last bus back was earlier then we had hoped, so we had to cut our fun short.  The Dockyards were great lots of things to see and do.  The next two days were a bit stressed our ship had to move from were we were docked because NCL's dock was being repaired and a Royal ship was coming in.  We had to Tender the next two days, which was a pain,  I had booked this destination mostly because docking in one place for three days would be so much easier with a toddler.  The next day we spent onsite at snorkel beach, which was good, the people were nice the prices for food expensive.  The third day we took the ferry to St. George, and again were not aware that the last ferry back was sooner then we had hoped, and it was almost over booked we thought we were not going to get on it.....all in all the trip was good.

I would do this one again,  on a different ship, from New york instead of Boston, and I would go during the summer months.  Too chilly for me in May.

Norwegian Gem

June 2012 - Norwegian Gem to Caribbean - Bahamas

Wonderful Time

This was our 3rd crusie with NCL, first time just the two of us.  We felt like pros getting onboard,  had our first drink by the pool at noon...lol...The Gem is similar to The Jewel and it was very easy to find our way around.  Again everything was great,  we got a balcony again and loved it very much.   Dinners again were mostly in the main dinning room which was fantastic.  We did celebrate my husbands birthday in Cagneys, and it was so well worth the money.....we took advantage of the poolside bar b ques for lunch.  Saw every show, and enjoyed most of them,  we are not a big fan of Second City but that is just us.  enjoyed our early morning swim and hot tub, very few people were in there in the morning, nice a relaxing.  We made our nightly donations to the casino.  The ports for the most part good.  Port Canaveral not my favorite stop.  I booked a massage in the spa at the beginning of the crusie just to get the relaxing in place.

Norwegian Jewel

May 2011 - Norwegian Jewel to Caribbean - Eastern

Amazing Trip

From start to finish an amazing experience.  The Jewel is a great ship,  a little bigger then the Spirit.  Was so impressed with everything.  Food was amazing, we enjoyed all of the entertainment, played the games that were offered.  The weather was great the ports a lot of fun. I got a crazy sinus infection and head cold which really sucked.  The second from last day i went and got accupunture in my face and believe it or not it worked,  and my last couple of days were very good.  All the Ports on this cruise were docked which was fantastic,  being able to come and go without having to wait for a tender was great.  This trip we had a balcony stateroom, I was so in love just having the floor to ceiling door made the room look so much bigger, although we still are not the type to spend very much time in our stateroom, it was nice to have morning coffee brought to us to enjoy on the balcony.  We ate 90% of our meals in the dinning rooms, we did eat lunch at the buffet and Blue lagoon.  And we had one Dinner at the specailty resturant Tepenyani and it was a great experince.

Norwegian Jewel

Norwegian Spirit

December 2007 - Norwegian Spirit to Caribbean - Western

First Cruise

This was our first ever experience with any Cruise.  At first we were very confussed, and overwhelmed.  We were travelling with a large group, so we tagged along with them for the first little while.  The food was amazing...the shows were fantastic,  the people were great.   Our first port was Roatan, and I was so impressed, we went to Anthony Key resort, spent the afternoon snorkeling had a wonderful lunch, then it rained actually it poured....that night on the ship was extremely rough,  a lot of people were ill,  my husband and I sat at the bow of the ship and enjoyed the ride,  we had a oceanview cabin which was sufficent since we only planned to sleep in it.  Our next stop was Belize,  one of the other people in our party plan an excurstion it ended up being a bust, but because of the storm the night before, oh well we did some shopping.  Our last stop was Cozemel we went for a scuba dive here,  not great for me I had a panic attack, no ones fault but mine,  the rest of the group had a fantastic time..  this was the first port that we docked at ( the others were tendered)  and i loved this part, we went back on the ship had lunch then went back to the port and did some more exploring.  We celebrated New years eve on this cruise and that was great.  Also my daughter got engaged during this trip which just added to the excitement..

Norwegian Spirit

December 2007 - Norwegian Spirit to Caribbean - Western

DarlaOntario's Tips

Boston, Massachusetts - very conjested port, crowed and confussing. longest wait we have ever had to board.
Nassau, Bahamas - went to Cannon ball reef to snorkel and it was fabulous, even saw a very large Water spourt, a little scary but the crew new what to do, and all was good.
Port Canaveral, Florida - not a fan, nothing to do at the port if your excursion is very long, or you dont book anything
Philipsburg, St. Maarten - our orginal excusition was cancelled due to high waves, the replacement one was ok, but not great.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - went to Magen's Bay, it was wonderful, did not enjoy the stay in town waiting for our ride back to the ship . The people were not very friendly
New York, New York - when using cabs in NY use the yellow cabs, the independent ones are much more expensive.
Norwegian Jewel Norwegian Jewel - The Main dinning room was my favorite place. we had to wait a couple of times to be seated, but it was never very long of a wait.
Belize City, Belize - our excustion got cancelled, it was not booked with the ship so there was no alternative available.
Norwegian Spirit Norwegian Spirit - If you have to tender, get to the tender office early so you can get an early tender. I was able to get 1st tenders for our group both times and that was wonder.
