The ship is very luxury, friendly personal, good food all the day over, a very good stateroom, more than we expected, very, very friendly hut-steward. Many old American people!! Shows and singersgroup very good, but the dancefloor oppertunities are not so many. We disliked the paintinggallery, we made a trip with the Costa Concordia and bought three paintings on board, this time it was a little bit rubbish

Beautiful ship with a good layout. Easy to find your way around.

Smaller than the mega-ships, but with lots to offer in the way of service, efficiency, food and fun. Seven families travelled together so there were many opportunities for fun - despite initial concerns with this line being geared to "older" groups - we all enjoyed ourselves immensely and rated this a top pick for cruises!

I loved the cruise, I especially loved the dining room, your staff was very polite and they made all 6 of us very comfortable I am sure they were busy, but they made everything run so smooth that we were quite unaware of how busy they really were, and that is good, they made our evening's with them so enjoyable, the food was excellent, and the wine stewart was right on top of us,. we went to the barbeque one night, and we all wished we were in the dining room it was quite hectic up there on the 9th floor, but it was very crowded.

Food was great! Service was wonderful! We would take this trip again

Six of us embarked on this ship looking for a step up from all the other cruise lines.we found it the service was superb and with our group constantly looking for upscale dining we found it. If we had one complaint it was the night we were dining in the Pinacle Grill. two of us had to twice return the Filet Mignon as they had difficulty preparing a steak medium. and it did take the manager a half hour to come to the table to find the problem.we were able to put that incident on one side and reall enjoyed the trip. we would place Hollan American up there with Crystal.

We loved Sunday football in the Sports Bar with widescreen TVs. I cannot belive that this ship was built in 2002 because it seemed very run down and dinged up, unlike any other ship I have been on. Several times the bathrooms were out of soap and towels! Most automatic antibacterial dispensers were not working, and crew members had to manually squirt the goo into your hands for you. Very few phones in the public areas, so it was tough to find one to call back to the cabin to see what the rest of the party was up to.

Recommend this ship if their main dining room food quality and preparation improve. We heard that it was do for refurbishing this summer. The ship was still beautiful. If things did not work like the hairdryer in our room...they were attended to and fixed promptly.

The ship itself I understand is getting ready for an update...and it does need that. At our table in the dining room. the lamp behind our table did not have a lamp shade on it... just a light bulb. It was not very attractive for one thing but the light bulb was blinding. We asked for a shade but they just turned the light off. We were told that they did not have a shade to put on it but had ordered one but it would not be one during our cruise. Other lamp shades close to us were burned... That needs attention! The waiter and his staff were wonderful...excellent attention. The cabin was always clean and neat. The common areas were also clean but again, ready for an update. The food was really good in the dining room and the Lido food was good, but the "cattle call" for food was awful. I don't like all the pushing and shoving...to many people at one time eating. We didn't know at the beginning of the cruise you could also eat breakfast and lunch in the dining room. After we foun that out, that is where went. Lido as just a good experience.

The Ship was very clean. The Staff was pleasent and the food was very good. People went out of their way to be helpful.

This was our first cruise and it was wonderful. The crew was very cordial and we were pampered from dawn to bedtime. The ports were wonderful and the excursions fit right into the days plans.

Since this was our third time sailing on the Zuiderdam, we enjoy this itinerary. But after 25 years of cruisung with Holland America, next year will probably not be returning to cruise with Holland America. It is obvious that they are incresing the cost each year and cutting corners at the same time.

Loved everything about this cruise and this ship. The ship was very clean, and our staterooms were beautiful. We had large balconies, and connecting rooms, so 4 of us were able to spend a lot of time together. We had bathrooms with both a tub and a separate shower and dual sinks. One thing to remember when you book connecting rooms is that the door between the rooms does take some closet space. However, there were more drawers than most other ships I've been on. And the large drawer under the bed is a great place for storage. The beds were high enough to store our large suitcases beneath them. HAL is known for food and service, and we had wonderful experiences with both. Our wine steward had our favorite drinks ready and delivered them within 30 seconds of us being seated. We chose "lobster night" to dine in the upscale restaurant, and the restaurant manager saved lobsters for us for the next night. The menus in the dining room were varied and interesting. I chose squash soup as an appetizer in the dining room one evening, and in the restaurant another. The two soups were very different and each was excellent. We did not have dinner in the buffet, but had several lunches and dinners. There was so much variety, and no long lines to get to your choices. We also had in-cabin service a number of times, as we had coffee delivered each morning, and cheese and fruit during one afternoon. I had lunch in the cabin when I had a massage during normal lunch hours and the steak sandwich was as good as any I've had anywhere.

Holland America definetely did an excellent job to earn the wage.

This ship was typical of this HAL class of ship - clean, good service, great suites, excellent food

We had a wonderful time on board the Zuiderdam ship. The ship was well kept and clean. Our rooms were made up and turned down in a fairly timely fashion, and the only place on the ship that ever smelled like smoke was the casino or if you walked by guests who were smoking on the lido deck. The Holland America Staff were excellent. They were very helpful, polite, and some even took the time to learn our names. While there wasn't a lot of activities for the young adult crowd, the ship still had lots to offer-worth every penny!

Recently completed a cruise on the Ms Zuiderdam. The ship was understaffed, the serving areas in the Lido Lounge were too small and inadequately serviced, and there was not enough seating for the amount of people aboard the ship. The ship was clean and orderly. The daily activities were mundane and repetitious. The evening shows and the movies were up to date and very well done. Nice variety in the evening shows.

The crowd was a little older than what I would have liked. Lido deck restaurant closed too early. Not enough late night activities. Entertainment lacking. Ship was clean. Staff was extra friendly and fantastic service.
