Don't hurry to get anywhere. Slow down and enjoy the beauty in every nook and cranny. This is a beautiful ship. Brass everywhere. The elegance you would expect from days gone by.

Great mid-size ship with all you wanted to do - or do nothing. very comfortable and clean and friendly crew no matter where you were.

Don't over pack on the clothes. Dress in layers and make sure to have a good warm waterproof coat with hood for the boating excursions to go see whales. It can get quite cold and wet on the top of the boat which is where I wanted to be though there was an option to be down in the enclosed cabin.

The seating for the shows were more comfortable in the Balcony then on the main floor.

When booking, remember, Holland allows unrestricted smoking on balconies. Even cigars. If you do not smoke, sometimes your balcony is unusable.

If you have a scooter, ask for the Deluxe Veranda Room which is 100 sq ft larger. That is the room that will accommodate a scooter. Take the helicopter tour to the glaciers. Best views ever. Also landed on top of the glacier.

Use the steps to get your mileage on your Fitbit and walk the outdoor track on the 10th floor. We had 3 great meals a deal and dessert in the evening and did not gain weight!

Yes, use side elevators and try for a centrally located room to be closer to both ends. On a trip to Alaska perhaps a verandah room is not necessary in the cooler months. Westerdam will go into dry dock for upgrade.

Make sure you try all eating venues on board the ship. Different menu and all very good.

Turn your phone to Do Not Disturb the entire time! Use your phone only for photos when you do not have your good zooming digital camera. You can blink and miss whales, seals and otters. They were out early in the morning (5:30 am) in Mid August every day. Do as much or as little as you want!
