Beautiful ship, wonderful crew, all the tasty wine and Champagne you can drink, great shore excursions, being treated like royalty for seven days - what's not to like?!
This was our second cruise on Silversea and we will never try anyone else ever again - once you have had perfection it's hard to go back to less.
Always love my days on Silversea. Have almost 500 sailing days with this company and don't see myself going anywhere else. Service, food and atmosphere were excellent.. Southern route on crossing was terrific - not a white cap all the way across the Atlantic. Stops in Morocco were good as well as the Canary Islands. This is preferable over a stop in Madeira or Bermuda. Furnishing, etc. could use a bit of a face lift on the Spirit and disembarkation in Barbados is cumbersome - too long a wait at the airport. I would take the same trip again in a heartbeat.
Wonderful cruise, especially the itinerary. Every port was thrilling ! The ship an staff were warm and caring. Special dietary requests were always handled properly.
The ship was dated Rooms were nice and the restaurants were very good
Excursions were very average and tour guides also
Entertainment middle of the road and the staff was a little off their game
quite a few things got mixed up
Luxury Only and Silversea need better communication. One in our group was celebrating an anniversary. Their "gift" was delivered to the wrong room on the wrong day. Birthday of another in our group was noted on the wrong day. My butler said Happy Birthday to me one day - it was not my birthday and Luxury Only knew that. My profile was clear that my birthday is still to come. When 2 of us arrived on ship no one informed us we needed to check in at reception. We found out from others. On the last day the return passports were given early to some and not allowed to be given to others - some had to sign for them - others did not. Printed information from ship had required departure times different on different printed sheets. Did not get weather information as stated we would in morning notices for 3 days. Never saw the captain. I just felt no one was on the same page and it depended on who you talked to if you received the correct information. Also, very offended over the prebilled Silversea charity donation without warning. Yes you were able to deny it but that made one look cheap. I think this was tacky of Silversea to even do it. Huge debacle over excursions that has yet to be resolved. Cannot believe Silversea dragged their feet and the blame was batted back and forth between Luxury Only and themselves. The poorest customer service I have ever seen.
Customer service at sea and on land needs a lot of work. For a high end cruise one would expect better. Thought it strange that the Officer in charge of excursion hosted a birthday dinner for one of our group since we have an ongoing issue regarding there complimentary excursion program. Mix up with anniversary celebration for another couple in our group as well as confusion regarding dinner reservations. Food was good, ports were interesting but the lack of good customer service ruined the cruise experience for me therefore I would never cruise with them again.
We just came back from the Silver Spirit Cruise to Turkey & Greece. This was the 2nd Silver Seas Cruise we had gone on. Our travel agent was extremely helpful in obtaining hotels, transfers & tours, pre & post cruise which we really appreciated.
However, the cruise itself was a little disappointing with some of the service. This was surprising since the cruise was not fully booked. Our butler & his assistant were great as were the waiter & assistant in the dining room. George in charge of the restaurants was also excellent. The service in the Italian Restuarant as well as by the pool could have been better. Overall, the cruise was excellent & we would take Silver Seas again.
Every port of call was excellent, and all the guides lived up to expectations. There was plenty to do on the ship without becoming overwhelmed. The entertainment was wonderful. The staff was attentive and friendly. The ship was decorated in original artwork by famous masters. The boutiques were well-stocked and overpriced, but they were on a floor that was easy to skip.
From the moment we were greeted at the airport by Mary to the very end of the trip, we were treated to high-end warmth, service, and excellence. Room butler was charming and helpful; room attendant was friendly and thorough; wait staff was efficient....and friendly. The ship was spit spot clean and shiny. Food was fantastic. The only drawback had nothing to do with the ship...the weather was rough, windy wet and cold. Good thing we had a elegant ship in which to ride. We will definitely return.
I have been on 30+ cruises on both contemporary and luxury ships but this by far is the BEST! The staff anticipate every need before you even know what you need! When leaving for dinner our butler would be waiting in the hall to escort us to the elevator and wish us a great night. Once he learned what we like to eat and drink we always came back to special treats!
We were sailing on a girls trip of 3 women ranging in the age of 30-50 and I was concerned at first this would be a cruise with much older people and it turned out not to be the case. Most clientele onboard was between 40-50. Of course there were some older folks and younger professionals but overall it was still very lively!
Almost everything about this cruise was top notch. Room with veranda large and comfortable. Itinerary great, with easy access to picturesque ports. Gibraltar, Spanish coast most enjoyable for sightseeing. Food outstanding, with one exception: they served tilapia and catfish one day at lunch (inferior fish!). Several restaurants provide welcome diversity. We tried them all, with excellent results each time. (I do not pay such compliments lightly. I am a restaurant reviewer with over a thousand published articles. Had to visit several venues to find music we wanted to repeat, but once we did, we went back every night.
Our first trip with Silversea. We were treated royally by all the staff. The food and accommodations were exceptional. Would definitely cruise again with this line. The suite had more than enough room; I especially loved the walk-in closet and ample storage space. The shore excursions were all very educational with professional and knowledgeable guides. Criticisms: shore excursions very pricey and wifi access was poor and costly.
we had the ROYAL SUITE #702. right up at the front of the ship.
it was a BEAUTIFUL room. lots of space, very comfortable (during the day ONLY).
at night every time the ship went up in down in the water we heard what sounded like a refrigerator being thrown down a stairwell (the nights at sea). ear plugs helped diminish the noise enough to sleep.
each morning that we would arrive into a port (about 5am'ish') we would hear the anchor falling into the water with its heavy chain behind it. NO NEED FOR AN ALARM CLOCK!!!!
IT SOUNDED LIKE WE WERE BEING BOMBED!!! this would happen 4 or 5 times at each port.
just an absolute terrible place to put the luxury cabins!!!!
for this reason the ship is terrible designed!
the food was terrible!!!!!!!! desserts, pastries & ANYTHING chocolate - were worse HORRID!!!!
we sustained ourselves on ham & cheese sandwiches.
the chocolate ice cream them served was ZERO CALORIE and came in a container, other ice creams where made on ship. ZERO CALORIE on a vacation??????
le champagne - OVER-RATED!
la terrazza - chef boyardee is better out of the can!
the grill - guests cook their own food at the table, WHAT A MESS!!!!
i did not go on vacation to cook for myself.
i've tasted better food from high school home economics students!
entertainment - NOT SO MUCH!! exact same show we saw on a previous cruise.
the cruise line owners have a charity foundation and early on in the voyage they take the liberty to charge your shipboard account for a donation to their foundation. VERY TASTELESS & TACTLESS!!
they leave a brochure in your cabin informing you about the foundation and then state if you do not want to make a donation please see the reception desk to make an adjustment.
i am on holiday and now i have to take my time to make an adjustment to my shipboard account?!?!?
this happened on our last voyage as well.
when i got home i tried to research the foundation and it is not even registered in the USA - donor beware!
we have traveled on silver seas before and greatly enjoyed it! this was a great disappointment!
if it were not for the staff and the people we met we would have disembarked and found our own way home! just an absolute disappointment!!!! as a guest you can tell that the management just does not care!
