Fabulous ship and cruise! by KathyS26

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We just returned from a great trip to the Southern Caribbean islands of St. Thomas, St. Luccia, Antigua, St. Maarten and Barbados. The first impression of the ship was how clean it was! We literally saw hand washing stations set up throughout almost the entire ship. The food was terrific! Another couple, who have traveled previously on this same ship said the food was much tastier this time. The servers in the dining room were really great too. We all preferred the Italian restaurant to the steak restaurant, but both were good. The excursion in Barbados was a highlight--kayaking and snorkeling with turtles--super cool!! Only down side was the number of other shipmates and other tours present. Still, got to see the turtles up close which was great! The tour guides then lead us to a private little beach where we hung out for 30 minutes before heading back to shore. We went to a fun place afterwards. It was called something like The Boatyard near downtown Barbados. You pay a flat fee like $15. You get a chair, a drink, and free use of the swinging rope and trampoline. Nice place tohang out, have lunch/drinks, swim, sunbathe. Great shopping in St. Thomas! If you have a spare day or two, check out Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. We had a great time touring the historic fort there. We also enjoyed some good food in town there. Another highlight: We stayed at The Normandie Hotel our last night before heading home. It's near the port in San Juan. It is an art deco hotel with a fun little bar outside and a nice pool. For a more resort oriented stay, try the Caribe Hilton. We walked all over the grounds, and they are beautiful! It sits right on the oceanside. We could easily have stayed there for 5 nights and been perfectly happy! I'd recommend Serenade of the Seas to anyone. It was a very pleasant experience. We would do another one at some point in time.

My Favorite Vacation Ever by LindaH28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We took advantage of virtually every aspect of the ship - the spa, deck, food, bars, night club, theater, shopping, photo gallery, shore excursions. Everything was clean, well appointed, stunning. The crew was friendly, helpful, and engaging. The artwork thoughout the ship was show stopping. Everything was gleaming. We traveled with 9 other friends and had a wonderful time.

Great first cruise by BrianH3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our first cruise, and lived up-to and went beyond our expectations. The ship was clean, well maintained, and the ships operations (dining, cleanning crews, etc.) ran smoothly. I was worried about the scale of operations, more specifically the number of passenger that needed to be cared for (2400+ passengers). But, the crew handled the scale perfectly. While on board, we did not feel crowded, and the crew made the experience very personal.

A Great Cruise by SallyeH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Cruise Ship was fanatastic. Small enough to be personal, large enough to have all the amenities you'd want. Crew was attentive, remembered our names and our "favorites" in the dining room. Only one negative comment about ship - the Chops Grille Restaurant was not worth the additional money to dine there. Steak was good but sides were sorely lacking - the regular dining room food was better!

Great cruise by Gerald1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Ship was huge. Spend the extra bucks for a balcony in the rear of the ship, its well worth it, you get two lounge chairs and two regular chairs and a table and awsome sunsets right from your room. It is perfect for days at sea so you do not have to fight for a lounge chair by the pool. Dinner at Chops was great, very intimate service and if you like filet its so tender you can cut it with a fork and I had no problems getting it rare. Windjammer Cafe got old around the fifth day with the same food. Service was great but you will run into a few with an attitude. I went on this cruise a week before Christmas so i got pretty annoyed with the Christmas music by the pool it was the same 4 reggae christmas songs in a loop when the band was not playing. If you stop at St. Lucia just stay on the boat the port is in a very sketchy area, take advantage of the boat when nobody is on it. Other than that it was a great time. Would sail again with them.

A great cruise for the whole family by JennferG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We surprised our kids for Christmas and took them on this wonderful cruise. Our family had a great time. My kids ages range from 6 to 13. My 6 and 10 year old loved the kids club. The staff was awesome and so cute. My 6 year old never wanted to leave. My kids also loved the sports court. They played ball whenever they could. Also, they loved the rock wall and mini golf. The waiters and stateroom attendants were great too. I would recommend this cruise to all. The ports are so fun and the beaches were incredible. I would love to do this vacation all over again!!

Great cruise by MaribelF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship is beautifull and fiendly to know because is it not huge although I prefer the Adventure of the Seas specially the Promenade. Royal Caribbean must improve the service at the Windjammer. The waiters seems to be very busy, and never asked if you need anything I hate to compare, but the Adventure has a perfect service. But it is fair to say that the dinning room service is A++++. The Stingrays (rock and Roll) show was great and the Diamonds wre almost sublime remembering the oldies. The Sea View Cafe has a Reuben sandwich from heaven!! For the first time I visited the medical facilities (my mom's asthma). The medical personnel was friendly, professional and I loved the way they treated my mom. She does not speaks english, but she understood every gesture of concerned from the medical crew. My thanks to them. One recommendation: Have your cruise care insurance as soon as you book your cruise. The medical services are expensives, but I can tell you they are prepared for any emergency. The balcony stateroom was perfect. We were three in the cabin and was OK. The balcony is perfect to take your breakfast while the ship is aproaching the port. You feel like a billionaire. Our Stateroom Attendant Adolfo Fox was great and shows concern for my mom's health. This is a good cruise for families.

The ship was very nice and in good condition. I recommend the Safari Club and Schooner Bar areas. They are not smoke filled and have great decor.

a "purell" cruise by KathyK8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was pretty. The crew was snarly except for a few nice ones. The crew seemed upset that they had to serve the breakfasts and lunches because they were normally buffet style. However, do to the fact that the ship had a problem on it's prior voyage, the week before, they did not allow any passenger to server themselves. Nor did they have salt/pepper shakers, they handed out packets. My biggest issue was that the price was supposed to include "soft drinks" However, once on board, we found you had to pay an additinal $52 to get coca-cola for the week! we settled for bad ice tea and lemonade, just out of principal. The ship seemed very commericalized and were constantly trying to sell you things, like coke, coffee/lattes, art, pictures, videos. My favorite (NOT) momeent of the cruise was when the captain of the vessel came over the PA to announce the dangers of gastrointestinal disease DURING THE FORMAL DINNER! yummy. Needless to say, I think it was cheesy all in all.

fabulous cruise by Ld111

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

overall the ship was great, the wait staff were well versed and quite helpful. The shows were also very entertaining,we especially liked the oldies group,we would have liked to go right into an oldies dance club right after the performance. our ship contracted a virus but the captain took action and informed us how to remain healthy right away and the staff were excellent in promoting extensive sanitary conditions. the only negative issue was that we could not find the dance classes offered. the food was excellent all around, except for the dining experience at Chops ,where the steak was tough.

Many beautiful places by AlanM4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was really nice however it was the exact replica of another Royal Carribean ship. The service on the boat was outstanding in every capacity. The activities on the boat were alot of fun and we fully participated in them this time to take full advantage. The only complaint I had would be about the lounge chairs on the boat and the lack there of. While the cruise line maintains a policy about reserving chairs, they do not enforce it. People would place towels on chairs in the morning and then never come back until the afternoon just to make sure they had a space. I am sure there has to be a better way of handling the chair situation.
