Radiance of the Seas by KatieP4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The elevators were (almost all) on the left side only in the middle of the ship so when you have a cabin on the back it's quite a walk. There were no directions to the tour buses and where they were for the different tours so you have to go from one floor to another to even know which floor to go off on. The published floor numbers were always incorrect and I feel someone should have been by the elevators before people got on them to tell of the changes.

Great cruise but needed improvement. by CarlaC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

It needs redoing or up dating, Our bathroom needed cleaning because my roommate got sick but the mess was left for two or three days. This isn't your type of service.

The Radience of the Seas was a beautiful ship! The views were amazing out of every window! Easy to navagate. LIked that in the elevators, they listed which floor you would go to to get to where you wanted to go...Lots to do onboard.

wrong time of year to visit Alaska by JimC27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Since Carnival Valor was our first cruise this one compared unfavorably. We Fault ourselves for choosing to cruise Alaska in May. The best time would be in August, when it's warmer and drier. Rock climb wall was closed entire trip and comp formal dining room fare was only great once out of five nights. Shows were average at best. Only two comeddy acts all week. Many empty bars on this ship and primo areas of ship reserved for "specialty" ($$$) restaurants. Sport club was the redeeming factor. Housekeeping staff was excellent and friendly. Had a stern balcony which was excellent because it was like having a 20 foot porch. Mountains were snow capped and gorgeous. Glaciers are interestimg to some degree.

Way too long by RebeccaH6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

RC had little planned for the 5 days of cruising to Vancouver. The weather was not good and you could not hang out at the pool and there were not enough accommodations in the Solarium for the amount of people on the ship that wanted to be there. Since we live on the East Coast I would NEVER do this cruise again because the travel time is too much.

The ship was fine and the stateroom spacious would always recommend a balcony on a trip such as this one

Australia/New Zealand Cruise by ChrisC10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

Nice amenities. Children facility was nice and clean. Variety of reasonable priced restuarants (Rita's and Izuma) was great change of pace for us.

A good cruise late in the season by KevinK3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Ship should limit smoking in many more areas. Basically, by late evening the entire central area of the ship smells of second hand smoke.

WOW Fantastic by EllenH3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Radiance of the Seas was the perfect size for the Alaska cruise. Not too big to sail into smaller inlets and not too small to have all the amenities you want on a vacation. The highlight of our trip was to walk on the Meade glacier. It was awsome. The weather was perfect too - nice and cool. We danced every night, ate lots of salmon and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Can't wait to go back again.

Great Itinerary but not a great ship by CoralS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Ship was just brought out of dry dock for our cruise..should have been kept there until the crew knew how to run all the new restaurants they added and they should have made sure the ship was complete before making us the guinea pigs..This was our 6 Royal Cruise and only because we were in Alaska did we have a good time. The ship entertainment was HORRIBLE the food was HORRIBLE, no one knew how to run any of the restaurants the toilet system went down on our deck at LEAST 1 time per day. HAd 2 teeneagers there was NOTHING for them to do. Ship is old and shows needs to be updated it was like everyone was on their first day of work. LAte dinner the 1st night was not served until almost 10 pm, soon as we walked in room our shower was broken, tv not working and stains all over the comforter. Ordered room service , sometimes they would get it , sometimes they didnt..the crew though were all very friendly and most of the time tried to fix these itmes right away. My kids cabin as sson as we came onboard was already running and backing up BEFORE the cruise even started. All in all not impressed with that ship but again everyone was pretty noce and accomodating. We did not give up on Royal, in fact we booked the Allure this Novemeber I just am very disappointed with the amount of money we spent to what we got.

a terrible cruise, will never redo this by DeborahL2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

the dinner reservations were not honored at all. could not get in to dinner at the time we wanted for at least three days, there was not one thing speical about the open buffet. the movies did not work, this was the most unorganized trip ever and if this can be put on the internet, would be a service to all.

Great Cruise by TA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

For being 10 years old, the ship was in great shape, the staff was working hard to keep it that way! Compared to other cruises, the food was average to good, we expected a bit more.

Overall good, but some issues. by RandyS3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

OVerall quite good. But when below decks in cabin areas there was a persistent sewage smell as noted by other reviewers. At times it was overpowering; at times barely noticeable.
