Relaxing crossing without getting too early in the morning! by pooky777

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Great crossing. We definitely need more music trivias and more music variety at G32. Not every night has to be ABBA or the 70`s night.

First, but certainly not last, transatlantic crossing! by sjmorley1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Having wondered for years about sailing, rather than flying, between the US and the UK, I took the plunge. I've become something of a old hand at airline routes, classes and seats, but was less sure when it came to ships! Jennifer, Cruise Consultant, could not have done more to help with the booking process and advise as to the best stateroom, position in the ship and dress code, etc. Like so many fellow passengers on my crossing, we didn't want the trip to end, and vowed to book again for next year. The Queen Mary 2 is just magnificent and surpassed my expectations in almost every way. Wonderful food, great crew and comfortable stateroom. Highly recommended - if you're wondering about doing it, do it!

Good but wish employees were treated better by wilson6543

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

This was a very nice cruise but employees didn’t seem happy. The said and did the rights things but just seemed sad. Speaking with several staff in different areas and levels the common theme was that 7 days at sea with no ports (for 9 months) and the time zone changing back and forth takes a toll. Cunard makes this worse by making the crew pay for their internet usage (not cheap) so they cannot talk with their families often. While I understand the need to be consistent (I was in HR), this can be maintained by applying this to cruises with no ports in excess of certain number of days or whatever. With no availability of free WIFI found in ports this just seems wrong and it does show. Do the right thing Cunard and it will show!

Amazing QM2 cruise by spinturn123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: World Cruise

Good service, delicious food, excellent entertainment. Especially ballroom and latin dancing with the friendly dancing host make a big different. Afternoon tea in Queens room also is a plus.

exceeded expectations. by miket5583557536

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Caribbean

Overall great cruise. Ship is tastefully decorated. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Considering the amount of passengers food was good. Outside of the meals and shows it was very easy to find spots to relax away from it all if one wanted. Would recommend the ship and cruise line.

It's Always Wonderful on Cunard by davidlansner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Even with autumn weather and active seas, the trip was smooth and relaxing. We met many interesting people, and everyone was friendly. The ship, the food, and the entire experience was great. We have already booked our next voyage.

Over the Top by Im4rays

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Everyone should experience the Queen at least once. The crew really offer outstanding service and being pampered was very appreciated. I've not seen a ship so clean from stem to stern. And the ship has a real promenade deck, allowing you to stroll the deck 360 degrees, with old fashion deck chairs to chill and just relax. We were so busy doing nothing, we didn't know where the week went.

Not likely to take another cruise with the QM2 by reddragon1148

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

As a first experience we might have been better off picking another cruise line. The QM2 tries to be a bit stuffy (dress code etc...) and it apparently does attract a much older crowd. The Norway landscape was beautiful and this was a nice way to experience the key parts of the country...on a ship vs driving.

The best vacation decision we ever made by BillnJudy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

I hate to use the cliche..the trip of a lifetime...but if I had to choose one trip this would be it. We loved the idea of not stopping in ports...7 days of just enjoying the journey. I wanted to experience crossing the Atlantic as my ancestors did nearly 300 years ago but awfully happy I had the Queen Mary accommodations. And the solitude and quietness was amazing. So many passengers, like me, read books to just the ever present sound of the sea. It was amazing and awe inspiring.

Excellent cruise with only a few glitches by yellowdoor343

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was our second time on the Queen Mary II and I must say it was a bit more casual compared to 10 years ago. Some of the guests ignored recommendations about the dress code after 6 pm. But for the most part it is worth the cost to travel at least once on this magnificent ship. Great for group gatherings or special events. We loved the variety of bars but some of the service was not as I remembered. All in all, I would travel again this ship. Be prepared to pay NYC prices for wine and drinks!

Queen Mary 2 does not live up to reputation of luxury by Cruiser32518052

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Trip great, getting on and off terrible. Nothing made me feel luxurious. Will never travel on Cunard again. Expected cute little towel animals on my bed each night. Dinner experience was good, but could have been more special if staff was not so overworked. The captain never appeared duriing a dinner time. Misinformation about enjoying fireworks on July 4th in Boston.

1st Atlantic Crossing by Cruiser92033122

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Favorite part of our cruise was the good people we met, and the good food at all times, and the calm seas. The only bad part was the embarkation in New York, we stood in line for much over an hour, some of that was outside, with NO seats anywhere. At Southampton, it was very good, with seats and a system with letters to call you for processing. The actual cruise it self was great.Big Smile

This was our first cruise on the QM2.  Everything was fantastic, from the food to the service to the many opportunities to practice ballroom dancing!  Highly recommend to anyone, though you lose time as you head Eastwards to London, so we will do the Westward crossing next time!Happy

Family time by ntcox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Caribbean

QM2 is big enough to permit the family cuddles and lots of personal time. We live in the W. Indies and flew to JFK, overnighted and down to Brooklyn Pier the next morning to embark and meet the grandchildren and their parents who live near Manhattan. We all did the same voyage two years ago. Food was even better this voyage, there was more space in the buffet breakfast lunch and dinner area, Christmas carols were carried thru to disembarkation, staff were even more devoted to passenger creature comforts, and the cruise itinerary better, in that all ports were visited by tying up at piers - eliminating minor accident risk on tenders. Cunard chaperone for our grandchildren during the day and evening was magnificent, giving the parents a break. We were especially lucky with the onboard spending allowance and enjoyed the shops, specialty coffee and Godiva concession at 'SirSamuels'. The Golden Lion pub is remarkable. We enjoyed the English fish n chips and drinks - you only get a charge to your account for the alcoholic beverages - Loveand believe me, the size of the battered codfish is humungous!

Elegant ship with happy atmosphere by LearningCurve2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Would highly recommend Cunard if you enjoy ballroom dance.

Beautiful, well-maintained ship, excellent staff.

Stateroom surpassed expectations in every way.

First class entertainment.  All musicians played the best of music in various genres.

My only disappointment was the lack of any aerobic/dance classes which promote cardio fitness.
