Review summary

Trip great, getting on and off terrible. Nothing made me feel luxurious. Will never travel on Cunard again. Expected cute little towel animals on my bed each night. Dinner experience was good, but could have been more special if staff was not so overworked. The captain never appeared duriing a dinner time. Misinformation about enjoying fireworks on July 4th in Boston.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Being kept waiting in line for over 1 1/2 hours was very unreasonable for a cruise line with so many years of experience. The staff did not seem aware of the bottlenecks (One woman held up the handicapped line for over 20 minutes and the attendant did not call for or receive any assistance until several complaints were made by others boarding. Holding up a sign with a number on it was not helpful when a space was open since they could not be seen and passengers did not know what they meant.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Chaos in the King's Court at all meals made it very unenjoyable. It was never clear to me where I could have gone for a burger or pizza.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Needed more activities for days spent at sea (not everyone is into dancing or exercise).

Entertainment

2 out of 5
There needed to be Broadway style show every night. Neal Diamond tribute was good, More dancing and singing ensembles would have been good, more Vegas style. More planetarium programs would have been good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The staff were very pleasant and always wanting to please. More of them at dinner time would have made their lives less stressful and made the guest feel there was more individual attention.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean, but organization of King's Court (buffet dining) was chaotic. Good for selecting only those items you wished for that meal rather than a full course of food, but poor in its arrangement so much so that I was always bumping into or being bumped by other passengers and daily had difficulty locating specific items.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Somewhere to sit other than on the bed for both parties would have been nice. Enjoyed large picture window rathe that small porthole.

Ship tip

Always look at the ship diagrams so you are not walkiing in the opposite direction of your destination or on the wrong deck.

Ports of call

New York, New York

Excursions to 9/11 Memorial and One Freedom Tower were wonderful, exciting

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Tall Ship ctuise was enjoyable (out in the ocean would have made it better)

Boston, Massachusetts

4 out of 5
Trolley tour fun along with time to eat and shop at Quincy Market. Would have been beter if trolley tour included more historic sites.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Waiting over one hour in a crammed room did not help. Then staff were not always aware of directions, sending us back to start or in the wrong direction. Lugg.age was in two different areas, some not in the correct "color" area. Some people were detained from disembarking because their credit card had not gone through, being required to pay in cash, some having to borrow from friends to be able to leave the ship. Not permitted to provide another card. This should have been addressed personally before last minute
