Review summary

Great ship, food outstanding on ship, crew are so friendly its amazing. Maintenance of Elevators and cabin such as drapes and shower door disappointing. Mandatory $16 per person per day gratuity whether you use services is inappropriate and paying $16 per day per person for Soda is not appropriate either.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff attitudes and skill exceeds many 4 and 5 star hotels.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Too many elevators out of service causes lengthy waits to move from deck to deck.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Shower door wont remain in place at rough seas banging continually and too many window drape hooks broken allowing light into cabin

Ship tip

Dont be surprised you have to pay $16 per day for Coke/Soda and $16 per day per person for mandatory gratuities whether you on ship or not.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

2 out of 5
Downtown Seattle is so not safe. Space Needle not a safe area and no police or security.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
Taste of Sitka excursion wonderful.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

1 out of 5
Tram ride has no protection at all from rain or elements. Avoid on a rainy day.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

1 out of 5
Third cruise and still havent seen this. Other ships were able to access this day but RC wouldnt go into the area. VERY dissappointing.

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Salmon bake is a beautiful location, great staff but Sockeye Salmon is full of bones and over cooked. Bus is ok but you ride on school buses... hmmm

Victoria, British Columbia

RC should DROP stopping here. Too short a port time but not a lot to do anyhow.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Not sure why some get to disembark on front of ship and all others CRAMMED into back mid ship area. Use to exits so we are not crammed into one area to leave ship

Just curious, are you new to cruising?

They are required to stop outside US, that is why the Canada stop.

Seems like you feel charges are unfair. Your cabin and the ship still get cleaned whether you’re on it or not, and so many other things that are done for you in the background that you probably don’t think of, so gratuities will always be charged daily. There are always free drink options included in your cruise fare, up to you if you choose to pay extra for soda.

You shouldn’t be cruising if you even did. You must have thought the soda price was ok since you bought it. And gratuities are definitely called for. Did you have your cabin cleaned? Did you have staff helping you with anything? Did you have waiters or waitresses bringing you food. Drinks?
