Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining was hit and miss. Some dinners were great and others were underwhelming. We had my time dining and scheduled reservations, but rarely seated on time. Most nights there were long lines. Our waiter in Silk was overly chatty and we tried moving to another dining room, but had to wait to get seated. Our last night, we were seated in a “back room” in American Icon with an unusually large and noisy group. We had a good breakfast in main dining, but lunches were adequate, at best. Solarium breakfast was good, but bacon was way undercooked and not edible. Two-70 cafe was nice for coffee, bagels and pastry. Chops was good, as you would expect. Windjammer, as expected. Overall, I believe the food quality and service has diminished. This was my fifth RC cruise. Bar drinks were way expensive!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I enjoyed sitting in the Solarium pool area the best. I enjoyed trivia in the Schooner bar.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Royal theater shows were enjoyable, especially Odyssey- musicians and dancers were great. Big party in Esplanade was fun, though way too crowded and had to watch from one level up. Disco party was fun and other music in Music Hall and Boleros was good.

Children's Programs

No children with me.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward was great but wait staff in main dining room was either overly talkative while others seemed uninterested in serving. Need more training. I sailed Anthem of the Seas last year and wait staff was wonderful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship design is great. This is my second Quantum class cruise and love the design. Public areas were clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our room was clean and comfortable. The balcony needs sprucing up.

Ship tip

My time Dining experience needs streamlining. Expect to wait even with a reservation..

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We came a few days early and enjoyed Seattle. There is lots to do there.

Sitka, Alaska

4 out of 5
Enjoyable town with lovely scenery and many shops. Restaurants were crowded with long waits. Food trucks were a good option, but need more seating areas to enjoy the food. No excursion, just walking through town.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

3 out of 5
This stop was adequate. It’s nicely built up for cruise stops, but would have much preferred Skagway. The excursion, Wilderness Forest was nice once it started. It was at least one hour behind schedule and overpriced.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

3 out of 5
We got up early but disappointed in not getting remotely close to the glacier. Have previously been in Glacier Bay with way better viewing of glaciers.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Love Juneau. The town has great shops and restaurants. We did a helicopter to Mendenhall glacier - fabulous time.

Victoria, British Columbia

4 out of 5
Victoria was a beautiful town and would have loved to spend a day here. There was not enough time to do an excursion.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We did self assist and definitely need more elevators. Moving luggage down an escalator is dangerous.
