Beautilful, breathtaking, scenery, Holland America is a class act. Wonderful service, great food. The staff is friendly, and personal. Would repeat this trip in a heartbeat.

The ship was spotless. Our stateroom was larger than expected. Service was above and beyond our expectations. The dining experience was that of a four star restaurant. We cant wait to do this trip again.

This ship and crew still holds true to the idea of providing unsurpassed service, surrounded by elegant furnishings and decor. A very large ship, but not so large to where you can not find your bearings. Within a couple hrs I was able to make my way to any part of the ship.

The food on the Ship was horrible, we have been on other cruises and the food was plentiful and excellent. The stateroom was okay, but needed a thorough updating, the sofa was worn and dirty, along with other areas in the room. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful, except for several servers in the Lido. We like to get what we want to eat, no serving line for us. Entertainment was okay, needed variety, one of the people in the Fitness Center asked those people not interested in paying for using the Equipment, not to come back to the free seminars. Overall, I wouldn't go on another Cruise on this ship, or with this line. Just my opinion.

Really nice tradition when approaching Hubard glacer. The staff serves hot split pea soup on deck as you view the cruise the glacer bay. Also hot chocolate for all.

The staff and service were top-notch. It was our first cruise and we will definitely do it again, most likely on this line.

The ship was great,clean and easy to get around. Wehave been on other HAL ships and were very pleased with the OOsterdam.

Our 19th Cruise. This is a very, very friendly crew; ready to help you at any moment. (We do not cruise to entertain the kiddies... that's what Disneyland is for.) Seven days on our second Alaska cruise with many people who have cruised many times before, so this was perfect as we were treated as intelligent humans... not needing to be "organized" on the deck in order to know to look at the glacier off starboard. The dining is excellent. One can charge into the buffet at any hour or relax in the restaurant whenever it suits you with friendly service. The striking thing is that none the staff is rushing round crashing into one another and breaking things... as I have seen on other ships... but things appear as if by magic, immediately. Would go again in a moment... a great value as well!

Been on 20+ cruises. First time with HAL. I don't expect everything to go super smoothly on a cruise ship. Usually find something good to appreciate. But on the Oosterdam, lack of service, few activities, average food, and the closure of kids area with no replacement supervision made for a disappointing experience.

Overall the ship is very nice. The crew is exceptionally polite and helpful. The only down side to the trip was that on two occasions we could not find a place to sit for the nightly show. It would be nice if the crew would ask folks to sit a little closer together to free up some space for all to sit. It was as if we were being punished for not showing up 30 minutes before show time.

When I walked on board in Seattle for the first time, and saw everything, I was ready to have a good time. For those next 7 days, it was great. My stateroom was great, and i slept well. They also had well made gourmet food. It was good. I liked the Ice Cream and Hot Chocolate. I enjoyed playing basketball on the top of the ship. I would stop and look around thinking, i am playing basketball at sea! I sound like a kid, because i am 13. I also had my birthday on the ship. They brought me out a nice and warm chocolate cake. We went on an Alaskan cruise on the Oosterdam. It was amazing. We hope to go on a Mexican Rivera cruise on the Oosterdam. It was our first cruise but certainly not our last. A wonderful first cruise.

The Oosterdam is a gorgeous ship and our stateroom was very comfortable. We are so thankful we sprang for a verandah. As with all cruises, there is always something going on somewhere around the ship but the views from our room were so beautiful that the idea of playing bingo in a theatre seemed like a waste of Scenic Alaska. The crew is very friendly, as were the other guests on board. The ships photographers were always around to take our picture as well as to answer questions I had about my camera. The Vista Dining Room staff is excellent and so was room service. The food is something entirely different. I have always heard eating is one of the highlights of a cruise vacation but that is not the case on the Osterdam. The first few days my husband and I just thought we were ordering the wrong things...Nope, it was all pretty bad. The presentation of every item is amazing, just don't expect it to taste as good as it looks. Room Service was the shining exception. We enjoyed every meal we ate in our room. Perhaps its the buffet/mass-serving factor that zaps the flavor from the rest of the food on the ship. The ports were great. We loved Juneau and Ketchikan. We had a rainy day in Sitka and the rocking tender ride to town was uncomfortable after a very rocky night of sailing through bad weather. I think cruising both directions in seven days might have made the cruise too rushed. We only had a morning in Ketchikan and an evening in Victoria. All in all we had an awesome vacation.

Holland America supposedly has a reputation for quality ships that provide a high quality cruise. That may be true in general, but the true hallmark of customer service is being there when problems arise. Because of our experience on the Oosterdam my wife and I will not use Holland America again. One night when we returned to our cabin we found that the cabin door would not close. For some reason it would remain 2-3 inches open. No big deal, we went down to the front desk and figured they would have someone fix the problem. This turned out to be an incorrect assumption on our part. Here is what did occur. 1) the front desk person suggested that we go back to our room and simply sleep with an open door. This was told to us by two people. 2) when we gently stated that this was not an acceptable solution to us they both then stated that because of the lateness of the hour (it was 12 midnight) they did not want to wake up a repairman. 3) two and a half hours later, after several additional phone calls to the front desk, someone finally showed up to fix the door. 4) We never received an apology, and it has been 4 days and counting since we informed the ship and Holland America via their website of what occurred and they have still not responded. Having traveled on both low end and higher end lines, Holland America simply isn't worth the money. They are not there when it counts.

The staff was excellent. All of them went out of their way to make each person, feel they were special. The room stuward kept the room as if no one ever used it. Leaving the ship for shore excursions was made simple and easy. Would never know almost 2000 people were getting off at one stop. The food was great, with lots of choices. The Wait staff knew their job and did great! Always remembering what you like to drink and had it for you right away. Hard to imagine, the staff does this week after week, with new customers all the time, you'd think the staff had just boarded also.

The ship was well organized embarkashon,etc. We loved the eating arrangements at Lido. We could`t get Early Seating Late Seating is too Late for us. We enjoyed all the tours.

I liked the whole ship. It was easy to figure out how to get around. We had an inside cabin and were pretty much close to everything. The elevators were right down the hall along with the shore excursion desk. The restaurant was just one floor up. The food was good every night. I thought the drink prices were a little high. It used to be you could sneak that stuff on board not anymore. The room was nice and the beds were very comfortable. I wish the dress code was enforced. I saw young girls in cutoffs and midriff shorts and tops the dining room is not the place for that. I dress for the evening and people should respect that on formal night on the cruise. So should their parents. I saw the crew looking at them but nothing was said. I could tell they weren't happy with the situation either.

The ship, crew, amenities were are wonderful. The only thing we have yet to understand is Holland America's Priority Embarkment-Disembarkment Policy. You seem to get on and off with everyone else. This was our second cruise with H.A. and overall we were not disappointed. Need to spend more time in Victoria and sail Pugent Sound during the day.
