Grab your pool chairs early in the morning - throw down books, towels, bags etc.....but be sure to be present most of the day. Folks move stuff and take the chairs.

The suites on the star are at the front of the ship and right under the running area around the ship. Also above is the bar. So there is some bumping and scraping early in the morning and it is a little bit more rough up front.

Eat in the specialty restaurants as often as possible.
ecblinder
try to get the beverage and specialty dining packages
dralbert1
liked the smaller ship, staff excellent and friendly
sherik9

Don't use Norwiegen Cruise Line
songbird816
If you can, request a room MID SHIP. There is less motion, and you are closer to the main elevators that take you to deck 7 and the buffet and pool on deck 12. My cabin this time was way far forward.

We were on deck 8 and liked the locations. It was just one floor from many of the amenities. We chose to eat in O'Sheehans more than the other restaurants due to the ease from our cabin. Coffee not so good here but service was great.

Don't do it! find another cruise line!
david168
If you can find another line that visits the same ports seriously consider taking that.
jworthe
Front of ship too far away from restaurants.

Stay away from raffles, gimmicky promotions, the gift shop has ridiculously expensive items (allegedly reduced). In short buy everything outside the cruise.

Make sure you have a lot of money to waste before booking the cruise. The cost of the cruise plus tax, gratuities, cover charges, drinks, photos, gifts, excursions and etc. Make sure you get a visa before you go to St. Petersburg, Russia.
Flygal51
It’s a smaller ship but recently renovated with excellent service.

Go to dining room for lunch on embarkation day.
cmitchell1
Take a mid ship location. Those at the aft had a rough ride.
jcheyne
Make sure you visit all the free restaurants on board.

Double check your cabin location prior to sailing to be sure you are not over or under the lounge or noisy area. A couple of nights they had to shut the music way down in the lounge to be respectful of the passengers. We had a forward cabin which made navigating the ship fairly simple.
