Review summary

The Norwegian Star had very nice specialty restaurants and we enjoyed the smaller ship. Crew members were very nice also. Negatives were the small pool and fight for deck chairs every morning. I saw grown men arguing over who "had" chairs. Folks just started moving towels after a few hours of them being empty.

It was our family's first and last cruise. Not our thing

Our 9 and 12 years olds were in-betweeny.....meaning no good clubs for their age group.

Ship Quality

Need bigger pool or another pool would be best. Not enough pool chairs for people.

Cabin / Stateroom

Nice, clean, but still small.

Ship tip

Grab your pool chairs early in the morning - throw down books, towels, bags etc.....but be sure to be present most of the day. Folks move stuff and take the chairs.

Norwegian Star was our 3rd cruise ship. The specialty restaurants were quite good. Pool area was not as nice as Royal Caribbean or Carnival. We just booked a 4th cruise for May of 2017 on Carnival Magic and can't wait. Got a balcony cabin this time. Enjoy Carnival and Royal Caribbean but not crazy about Norwegian Star. Food in the Market Place reminded me of a high school cafeteria as did the setup. Trying to get chairs was impossible. People camped out on them from dawn to dusk. People were sleeping in them too. Same people had the deck chairs every day. No movie on the pool deck either.

Try different, more upscale line.

Don't let one cruise determine you not to do it again! My first cruise was last August on carnival and we tried to tell them that we needed a boat that left from port canaveral and they were not trying to help at all so we drive to Florida from Ohio and had to leave the rental at the airport and fly to Puerto Rico but i still ain't let that stop me from cruising. Don't give up
