Review summary

Our cabn was clean.  Our room steward was friendly.  The specialty restaurants were good (not excellent).  That's all I can say good about the Star.  Old, tired ship.  Restaurant food was only adequate.  Market Buffet was not even adequate.  They couldn't even get the coffee right.  The ship broke down in Stockholm:  Nine hour delay.  Arrived back into Copenhagen 9 hours late.  Many passengers missed flights.  The ports were great, but find another ship/line to use to get there.  Would not recommend.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Dined in specialty restaurants 4 nights. Bistro was the best. Cuchina was like going to Olive Garden. Cagneys (2 nights) was good; although my steak was overcooked the second visit.

Cabin / Stateroom

Clean. Good storage. Large bathroom (for a ship). Balconies cannot be opened to neighboring balcony.

Ship tip

If you can find another line that visits the same ports seriously consider taking that.

It's a long ride to Berlin. Makes for a very long day, but worth seeing the city.

I loved the star! Sailed twice this year. I thought food was amazing. Ncl is my favorite line, I've been on almost 30 cruises. I'm not sure I can ever do carnival again. Rcl, maybe

Each to his own. We greatly enjoyed Norwegian Star on prior occasions. Found the food more than adequate. Have also sailed Royal Caribbean and found long lines everywhere and totally unacceptable buffet. Main restaurants were much better. Much prefer the smaller ships with less people. Looking forward to being on Star in August. Norwegian does a fabulous job.

We were on the Star in April and the Market Buffet was not good, except for the ice cream. The specialty restaurants were quite good, particularly the steakhouse, the Moderno Brazilian, and the Teppanyaki. The Italian restaurant wasn't very good. The ship as a whole leaves a lot to be desired. No movies on the Lido deck. Not enough deck chairs. Just not as nice as Royal Caribbean or Carnival.
