Disappointed in many things by LoriM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our first time with your cruise line. We were dissapointed in the dining area space. We always had to really look for seating when in the Marketplace dining room. The "night clubs" and shows only played 70's music. Only one time did we hear any current music. We were very dissapointed in this. The look of the ship was great. Our stateroom was good. Everything was clean and well kept and the staff wonderful.

a very relaxing cruise by LuM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Loved my balcony room. Great room stewards. Restaurant server's= some were nice, worked hard to please and competent. other server's and attendants were sober, robotic hard to communicate with. The ship's decor was pleasing. Seat's in the place the show's were, were uncomfortable. The cruise director was perfectly 'corny' as he should be..Loved the many choices of Jacuzzis.

A good vacation by LindaM10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

A very lovely ship. Food was excellent and we didn't even try the specialty restaurants. We personally like being seated with the same people each night and don't care so much for the "freestyle" cruising, but it worked well for us on this cruise as we brought our handicapped son along, and keeping a schedule is harder with him. We would prefer less specialty restaurants and more amenities such as a theater, or an indoor pool for general use. Entertainment was good with good variety around the ship. Something for everyone. Most of the staff was very nice although I did encounter one bartender that was a bit rude. I was really surprised. Our balcony room was a bit small for three people; we couldn't get out the balcony door when the sofa bed was open, and closet space was tight. The shelves inside the closet were very hard to access. There were days when our room was still not made up at 1:00 PM even after we had been out of it for several hours. Overall we had a good time but have been happier with some other ships.

Worth a balcony for alaska cruise by TimB5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

First time cruise for me and my wife. Scenery for alaska was great. Getting a balcony was worth it for taking pictures. Specialty restaurants was the way to go for avoiding crowds. Bathroom layout was uncomfortable to use. Choke points at elevators was a pain. Dinner excursions for crab were overpriced and underwhelming. Lower priced excursions were more fun and worth it. Saving money by taking the last cruise of the season had its drawbacks of bad weather and closed stores in the ports.

Alaska by Ship... by ColinG1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Very clean & modern ship. Enjoyed the cruise very much as did my wife. Was dissapointed that there was always an additional cost involved on everything from the room ($12 per day per person) to a video game for the kids. I thought I paid for the cabin with my cruise payment, I could have made up my cabin for less than $24 a day. The hard sell to buy more than you wanted for example a glass of wine was always followed up with "you should buy the bottle it's cheaper". Well I only want a glass. The 15% tips are added to everything so even if the service was bad I you have zero choice in the matter. I actually think I would have tipped more if I was given the choice. Being forced just made me say enough is enough on the extra tipping. The ship and the cruise (without the extra money having to be dolled out) was very nice and enjoyable. But call me old fashioned I still think that a few things could have been without charge. Would that really have hurt NCL's bottom line? I doubt it? Maybe even have made a few more dedicated customers.

This was my first cruise. We sailed on the Star from Seattle to Alaska and back. I LOVED every moment of the cruise. The entire staff were very hospitable and helpful through out the trip. The accommodations exceeded my expectations by far. The ports of call were all beautiful! This will definitely be a cruise I will take again!! Thank you NCL!!!

Fantastic Cruise by JenniferG6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had a family suite for our family of five and it was wonderful. We were able to spread out and enjoy our room as well as the activites on the ship. We utilized room service and had special treatment the entire trip. I was especially pleased with the restaurants as I have a Gluten allergy and they were very conscientious in getting me gluten free meals. The workout room was clean with plenty of equipment for everyone. My son and husband played basektball a few times as well as golf and chess. All three of my kids swam every day and had a great time. This was our first cruise and we had such a great time that we will be crusing again.

our first cruise by RobinD4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our "honeymoon cruise" celebrating our 20th anniversary. We liked how there were many different types of shows and entertainment. The first two ports, especially, had excursions with different types of things to do and various costs to meet each budget. The food was excellent and the dining gave you options of various food types and environments to eat.
