Review summary

Really great cruise, great ports of call... I would recommend coming to Europe a few days early for your cruise and staying a few days after. We started in Rome (4 nights), train to Venice (3 nights), then boarded the ship... ended up in Barcelona, disembarced, stayed in Barcelona for 4 days, then home. A cruise gives you a great overview of the places that you want to see... you really have to be portside for a few days if you want to experience your destinations. That being said, the cruise was GREAT and I would recommend it - and this ship - to everyone.

By far our joy on this cruise was the crew... Irish, Jha Jha, Nathan, our steward Sandy... these people were a great joy for us, made our day every time we spent any time with them. These people are soooo upbeat, so pleased to make you happy... really, truly, these crew members made our journey! EVERYONE on the crew, to the person, was fantastic, accommodating, cheerful... we couldn't ask for more! For that reason alone - that, and the great ports of call - we look forward to returning to Norwegian Cruise Lines for future voyages.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Same... not the highest end food, but for the price, can't be beat! Check out the fresh pastries in the morning that Irish and Jha Jha bring to your table!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We really did not participate much... when the ship docked, we were gone!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Nice, but nothing over the top.

Children's Programs

Don't know... our son is 17, would not be caught dead attending a children's program!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff and service were the best at any price.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Not the highest end shop, but for the price, we think very nice...

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Always too small, but our steward, Sandy, did all he could to make us happy.

Ship tip

Not much difference between the Garden Room and Windows, but no dressing up for the Garden Room, so if you want to be casual, stick with Raffles and the Garden Room. The sushi restaurant was great, also.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

Maybe the best... get a taxi/guide who speaks English, has some knowledge of the history...

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

5 out of 5
Same, get an English speaking guide... Ephesus!

Istanbul, Turkey

Blue Mosque!

Mykonos, Greece

3 out of 5
Beautiful Greek town, not enough time for beaching...

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Amalfi Coast and Sorrento!

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
We had already been for 4 nights, too much to see in a day...

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

3 out of 5
VERY difficult to get a taxi... this would be the one port that I would recommend the shore excursion... otherwise, it will be trains.

Toulon, France

3 out of 5
Take the train to one of the coastal villages.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Really a beautiful place.
