Very unsettled , ruff sea, cancelled our excursions in Victoria. We were always late to and from ports by Sunkiss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Everyone including the staff was sea sick. Due to late departure in every port. A emergency came up and the staff was not properly trained. A plan should be in place that does not affect the entire cruise. (life flight) I only planned one excursion and that was in Victoria. Due to the emergency that was cancelled. The captain said that it was the human thing to do. That should not be a call for the people on the ship to have to make. I was told how great the cruise to Alaska was. My experience was not a good one. I feel I was cheated out of the good experience. The captain was only concerned about docking in Victoria to get supplies and had no concern that we missed out on our experience,

First Alaska Cruise by Ciabelle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Enjoyed cruise overall, cruise director Vincent was energetic and enthusiastic which was infectious. Food was very good for the most part, but did get a couple mediocre meals in the MDR mainly because the fryer temperature was too low.. Yellow, soggy, oily calamari and fish and chips made for a terrible lunch at the Summer Palace. Housekeeping was on point and very responsive to requests. The biggest fly in the ointment though for us was poor communication. As noted before, we downloaded the iConcierge app as instructed on Norwegian's website for our ship. But once on board learned we needed a different app, "Cruise Norwegian" thankfully we were still able to download it without having to pay for internet access. Once installed, it didn't want to let us log in. The one fellow on embarkation day at the internet center was overwhelmed and seemed to lack knowledge, and was calling tech support for just about everyone.. We ended up figuring it out ourselves. First day massive crowds of people on deck 7 clinging to their Freestyle Dailies trying to figure out where to go. We wanted to go to the free liquor tasting at the "gift shop" per our freestyle daily. Signs onboard pointed to Duty Free Forward and Retail Stores Aft. Not one that I ever found ever called any shop a "Gift Shop" Unnecessary backtracking through crowds ensued. 3rd day, first port day, we are trying to get to our cabin on the 4th floor from the 7th floor shortly before arriving in port. Elevators would come to the 7th floor and then go right back up.. People getting restless. Finally found a crew member who told us we'd need to take the stairs. As one of my travel companions used a walker, this was a non-starter. Finally another crew member overrode the program and got us an elevator to our cabin. 4th day, 2nd port day, deck 4 is filled with people wandering around trying to figure out how to get off the ship. No announcements were made that we'd disembark on Deck 7. Same thing again in Victoria on Day 7 when it was back to deck 4. LED screen signage in elevators was out of date. Directing people to "Blue Lagoon" on deck 8 which no longer exists, or "South Pacific Spa" which is now called "Mandara Spa" I get that most people never bother to look at signs anyway, and will ask crew members a question answered by a sign right in front of them. But to frustrate those of us who are trying to figure things out on our own and end up flagging down a crew member for assistance anyway is putting more work on the crew than should be necessary.

Best Time Ever by staceyjoprice

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was my first cruise and I was not disappointed in anyway. Our cabin was wonderful and had a lot of storage and our room steward took care of everything and left cute towel animals. All of the the specialty dining was amazing. La Cuchina was my favorite though. The filet at Moderno was to die for and the raspberry crème brûlée was best thing I have ever tasted in my life :-) Cagney’s was absolutely wonderful too and we were treated like royalty in all places! My favorite place during the day for good regular food and a really good breakfast was O’ Sheehan’s. O’ Sheehan’s was very comfortable and easy going with the Seahawks game playing on Monday :-) I packed way too much clothing and really only needed comfortable clothes and layering pieces for the excursion. My best advice for a cruise to Alaska, would be to spend more time watching the scenery and relaxing instead of taking part in all of the activities inside the boat which distract you from the reason for the cruise in my opinion. I am not taking a cruise to gamble or play games, I want to see wildlife and the amazing scenary :-) I can’t wait to go again!

The Good With The Bad in Outstanding Weather by heyitstony

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We are proof that no matter how cautious you are, catching a virus can happen. Three out of nine of us got sick towards the end (6th and 7th days). Even that could not dampen the spirits of our group. The "Daily Sheet" should be read carefully as there are many hidden gems that aren't well publicized. Explore with an open mind, and be gracious to the staff, who are doing an impossible job with grace and good humor -- and bring air freshener, seriously, if you're sharing a cabin with another person this is a must. The best parts of the trip were the Salmon Bake in Juneau and the Narrated Trip through Glacier Bay. Forever memories.

Wonderful trip to Alaska by delipa

We had a great trip to Alaska. The food and entertainment were good, and the people onboard, both passengers and crew, were very friendly. The weather cooperated and we only had rain when we hit Victoria. The port stops were either sunny or cloudy with sun. The glaciers were wonderful, beautiful colours. We saw orcas, belugas and seals really close to the ship on the way back down. I highly recommend this cruise to Alaska.

Would do it again in a heartbeat! by jraiffie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

We had an amazing time and great weather. Would have preferred the staff offer options to wake us up for northern lights - there were none on our cruise. Glacier Bay was incredible - but we were the only ship that got back to see the John Hopkins glacier which made that day. I would have been disappointed if we didn't see that glacier. Sounds like we got lucky! Would do this again in a heartbeat!

All things were wonderful. The new Port Valet Service kicked it all up a notch. If you have the option to do this, I highly recommend it. Struggled a bit with staff language barriers more so than I have on any other cruise. Otherwise excellent service.

We just ended our 7... by egoodwin92

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

We just ended our 7 day Alaska cruise on the NCL Pearl and it was a WONDERFUL trip! We enjoyed every port and the sites were incredible! Something we've truly only ever seen in post cards before. Just an FYI for those who are curious or don't know, you do NOT have to have a US passport if you are a US citizen, just your government issued photo ID and birth certificate. They always say a passport is recommended but is not required. You also do not have to have a passport to get off in Canada. Just your cruise card. Food was amazing, drinks were amazing and the staff was awesome, especially Armando at the casino bar. We had an incredible time. Well worth the money. We love NCL!

We looked forward to this trip for a long time. Had a great time. The balcony state room was well worth it. I experienced some mild motion sickness the first couple of days but it won’t keep me from taking another cruise

Enjoyable with some disappointemnts. by sswens01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We did enjoy the trip but would not do it again. Would recommend a different ship and maybe different cruise line. Shore excursions did not disappoint !! Weather was gloomy only a couple of days but the train ride was great with great weather. The Glacier was amazing. Some days were boring on ship so you could get caught up on your naps.

Great cruise! There were... by Nortondj

Ship: Norwegian Pearl

Great cruise! There were ten of us and we had a great time. The food was good, the music was fun. The comedian was really good. The shows were just ok. The excursions were great and the cruise through the Inside Passage was phenomenal! We made reservations for dinner in the MDRs each night that we were on the boat they were either at 5:30 or 8:00, so we never tried to stand in line for certain times. No lobster. Bar tenders, waitstaff, steward all were FABULOUS!
