Review summary

We did enjoy the trip but would not do it again. Would recommend a different ship and maybe different cruise line. Shore excursions did not disappoint !! Weather was gloomy only a couple of days but the train ride was great with great weather. The Glacier was amazing. Some days were boring on ship so you could get caught up on your naps.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The buffet was plentiful but food got to be boring day after day. I enjoyed going there early in the morning to get a seat by a window and enjoy a light breakfast and coffee. The main buffet food was not open early enough for me. The seating got to be very crowded there later in the morning and with the cool and damp weather the outdoor area was often the only place to sit. The Main dining room was pleasant, not crowded and luxury atmosphere. Cagney's steak house was one of our free dinners which was very good. We did not partake in any alcohol by choice.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not interested in most activities as it was costly.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were acceptable but not fantastic. The aerial show did not happen and was replaced with a repeat singer...bummer.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Most staff was cordial and pleasant. Our room steward was awful...didn't talk to us and didn't always service our room. Had to ask for ice and other stock items. The room safe was not accessible and no one came to open it after asking for it the entire trip. Food service was good.

Ship tip

Be prepared for disappointments, crowded buffet dining room and some poor service in staff. Activities were too costly.

First decide on what you want to do and what is your budget. Some like lots of activity, some like to relax. Some travelers want places to experience, some go for fine dining in restaurants where you need to dress up. NCL is based on on casual cruising free style meals with out designated seating at meals. Also, some cruises include more extras but the cabin rates are higher. It all depends on what you are looking for in a cruise experience.
