The cruise was great. I traveled with my mom who is elderly. She was overwhelmed by how much walking was required to get around the ship as all activities and dining is spread out around the ship. If you are going to sit to dine find your favorite wait staff and request them every night will get exceptional service that way. Our cruise was enjoyable and relaxing. Would definitely cruise again.

Enjoy cruising...met new friends. Will use Norwegian and again!!

This is the 2nd NCL ship we had awful food on of 4 cruises. We still like cruising but I think they should let u know what style of cooking the chef will mostly be making before u book so u can decide if u want a diff ship as I hate curry and also count eat most meats as they were so dry and I have choking issues and the same gravy for every meat every day not acceptable. Some ports were disappointing and the lack of excursion options and avavilability not acceptable for what u pay to go on a cruise. We have never tried another cruise line but are now considering just that!

Alaska is a must-see cruise and this one-way allows you to spend more time at each area and enjoy the beauty more.

As an NCL regular it was just okay because of the few things I mentioned earlier. Hopefully our next NCL venture will be back up to expectations.

This was the 2nd Norwegian Alaskan cruise I've taken in the last 15 years. Really enjoyed the entire experience.

Do not chose the 2for1 airfare option like I did. Cruise has to be paid in full before you get your ar tics 30-60 day prior to departure. No info in my itinerary about air terms and conditions. When I talked to my consultant about air travel concerns, was told to call air division once tics received. Rec'd tics mid July, I live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada and my flight was from Anchorage, Chicago, Denver, Edmonton - 18 hours. I found an acceptable for me flight and called to change and was then told that I paid $1100 CDN for the 2 for 1 tics and there are no changes, cancellations, refunds. So I then paid to buy tics home that would only take 6 hours, and these tics were less than what I paid for in the first place so I flushed $1100 CDN down the sink. Terms and Condition for air are not included with the others under that tab in my Itinerary but buried deep on the ncl.com site. Not clear and transparent. The communication is awful, staff on chat are not knowledgeable, have to transfer to different phone numbers for booking, shore excursions, air. I will never use NCL again. For a cruise that cost me $12,000 CDN for a week, I do not feel that I received good value for my money. The shore excursions are all over glorified and very disappointing and overly expensive.

Overall the cruise was good, however, NCL lacks proper communication to its guests about what’s going on and what is happening. In every port in Japan, the locals put on a different show wishing us a farewell and thanking us for visiting. The captain and cruise director did not make a single mention of this to encourage guests to watch the performance and instead found out by sheer luck as they walked by on the promenade deck.

I loved Alaska, the ship was mediocre. Surprisingly for service and food was not great.

To summarize everything, the Norwegian Jewel Cruise Line failed to live up to its name. Instead of a jewel, it proved to be a fool's errand. We caution all prospective travelers to steer clear of this company unless they wish to endure a similar ordeal.

This was our first cruise, we had a great time at the ports but wish we were made to feel welcome on board which sometimes we were not. We felt overlooked by passengers who'd been on since Tokyo.

The very best word you could use to describe this cruise is mediocre and I have always loved cruises. This is easily the worst cruise I have ever been on and we have been on 20 + cruises.

Alaska is breath taking. The crew and food on the Norwegian Jewel sucked.

ship really old and outdated: nothing to do during 30 hours of sailing; food was terrible and always the same at buffet or restaurants with a limited drink selection; nothing special about special dining; kid's club with very limited hours is a deal breaker

Cruising is a specific kind of vacation which allows you to visit a variety of places without the added burden of changing hotels. NCL Jewel was comfortable, friendly, and served its purpose of safely bringing us to a variety of places in the Mexican Riviera. I would recommend this itinerary.

To book a disembarkation transfer from the port to the airport is a challenge. It could not be done online and must call to make a reservation. After phone booking then I could not pay online. End up we hired a taxi to get to the airport, which was cheaper, private and faster. No body informed us that we could book flights with the Norwegian. The United Cruise did not offer us this service either.

The ship and itinerary were nice. Some of the shore excursions did not match the descriptions and did tend to run late. The 2 times we have been on this boat it seemed to have more adult couples and few young children.

Want to sail the Norwegian Jewel? You may want to read this first. If you wonder why the ship is cheap, there is a reason. First time sailors don't be fooled. You have better choices. Need internet? Choose another ship as this one's complicated system robs you of minutes every time you turn it on and turn it off (many ports do have free internet, except Colon, Panama- Cartagena and Santa Marta, Colombia). Want to be pampered with an exceptional level of courtesy and professionalism that you may have learned to experience and expect from a good cruise ship company?Choose another ship. The cafe's waiters walk around like zombies, cabin attendants do their jobs but if you need yours for something, good luck finding him. Expecting a great professional attentive crew? Choose another ship. Like to do things aboard the ship during the day? You will find that most will not suit you, but don't worry they do have some good TV shows and movies on your cabin TV set if nothing else. ( might as well stay home and watch your own). Or choose another ship. The waiters are unresponsive to simple custom orders, such as commanding half portion for example. You will rarely get it the way you want. Even at Burger King , you can have it your way. Speaking of food, if you are a gourmet, or even have just normal taste buds and expect yummy food, choose another ship. You will be disappointed in the food at the main dining room. After the first two or three nights of more or less the same bland the menu, we still found the Garden Cafe, even with its cafeteria style food was a better option. At least more variety to pick and choose. The Brazilian steakhouse, Moderno disappointed us, but the best cheeseburgers were cooked at O'Sheehan's, so if you expect more than chowing down on my burgers only, you may want to choose another ship. I know. This is not my first cruise. I expect and expected better. First time I've ever walked off a ship and needed a vacation to get over it all!

The most disappointing thing about this cruise was did not tell us that we had to contact Norwegian Cruise line before 100 days prior to receive the promised buy one, get on free air transportation to & from Panama & San Diego. Nor were were we able to purchase ride from the airport to the port and the port to the airport in San Diego.
