We found cruising NCL to be super relaxing and a lot of fun! The Escape is a beautiful ship with a fun and helpful crew. We definitely plan to sail on The Escape again!

Great Escape by sbho

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Excellent cruise to a beautiful destination. We would sail the Escape again. Friendly and consistent service and overall happy atmosphere. Escape does have limited deck space for the size of ship. We did have thermal suite pass. Excellent experience and would do that again. Surprised though at how busy it was at all open hours. People also were not quiet and did not have spa etiquette. That is not the ships problem though. We did encounter several obnoxious and rude cruisers everywhere on this sailing. Norwegian is still our favorite and looking forward to another sailing.

Had a great time on... by FutureGirl

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Had a great time on this cruise. It was only my second cruise (my first being on the Gem). IMO only thing the Gem has better was the food. I had a few times were I was underwhelmed by the menu in the “regular” restaurants but you can’t blame the chefs since they don’t make the menus. Overall I had a wonderful time. Our Cruise Director, Jacky, and our Assistant Cruise Director, Alex, were so funny and always had amazing energy. We were lucky and had perfect weather the entire time in Bermuda so that added to the trip. Love this ship.

Gotta Love Bermuda by wfsm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Cruise was fun, been on quite a few so it gets easier to avoid the problem areas and stick with simple stuff...avoided the pricey excursions and dealt directly with the locals...that works well in Bermuda.

NCL Don't waist your money!! by gizmomom545

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

My tip would be don't waist your money on NCL it was the most money we have spent on a cruise and Definatley not worth it!!! Go With RCL (Royal Caribbean) they are better priced with way superior service in every way their beverage package is 1000 times better you can get bottled water and gormet coffee and lattees with your pkge at no extra charge where Norwegian nickled and dimed you for Everything! I have been on both the Escape (NCL) and the Anthem (RCL) both comparable ships when they were both sold out and their was no comparison Royal Caribbean was the clear Winner!! From customer service to had they had people dispersed all over the ship by having additional dining venues that were included at no extra charge, you didn't have to wait for drinks are food anything really... Do yourself a favor any go on RCL!!!

Would Book Again on Different NCL Ship by Sadie73

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

This was my 7th cruise, and 3rd with NCL. It was my boyfriend's first cruise as an adult (he went on a Disney cruise when he was 12, which was over 30 years ago). This was our first time to Bermuda. This cruise did not disappoint either of us! This is the biggest ship I've been on to date, yet it didn't feel like there were 5200+ passengers on board. For the price we paid, it was an excellent cruise; we are already planning another on the Encore. We loved Jacky Tang the cruise director, out of all the cruises I've been on, I have never remembered any of the cruise directors. I can't say that about Jacky, he will never be forgotten!

Problems with accessabilty, but still a great cruise by mtankle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

This is our fourth cruise, our first on Norwegian, so I compared this cruise with my previous three, all on Carnival. We won't cruise on one of the larger ships again. We are not giving up on NCL though. We have already booked the Pride of America Hawaiian Cruise for 2022!

Ok... So this ship holds... by jdavis779

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Ok... So this ship holds 4000 people. Understanding that Norwegian did a good job of moving people on and off the ship for the most part. Two of the travelers in our group had handicapped needs and getting them on and off proved to be a process for 1 of our group. In N.Y. She was forced to walk long distances to board and when asked about the motorized chair she had rented was told it was in her room. But when finally arriving at her room to retrieve the chair was told she could not because the rooms were not yet ready. Should this chair have not been waiting for her at the gang plank ? Then upon arrival in Bermuda was told she could not take the chair off the ship to go to the dolphin quest that she had previously booked. Again forced to walk a longer distance than she is usually capable of. When making plans on the last night of our trip both handicapped people were given 5 different plans by guest services or those acting as guest service agents. Thankfully that all ended well. The ship and trip for my partner and I was wonderful. Our room Stewart (Siva ) was excellent. The shows I enjoyed most were Choir of Man and Carols Kings, but the real hidden treasure was Joanne Rochell. She is a piano player and singer most often found in the District Brew House. As word of her show spread there became no seating room available. Bravo !! The staff at the brew house was amazing,,, Curlly ( Vincent ) and Alfie were on the mark every time we were there. This is a must stop spot on the ship.

Ship was nice but she... by tehgengen

Ship: Norwegian Escape

Ship was nice but she needs her drydock next year for minor maintenance issues that I’ve seen but I’m very observant, I like the ship and my Cabins, I fee their shops on board they needed more gift type items in the shops too much space for jewelry and junk, overall it was a nice cruise with 18 of us

We made it good no matter what. Bermuda is a wonderful place to visit. by luvbeachsunsets

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Loved Bermuda. The weather wasn’t on our side this time at sea. Heavy seas most of the time with rain and wind. Luckily we have done this itinerary before so we know how nice this cruise can be. We were a little disappointed in the Escape though. Compared to the Breakaway, which we did the same itinerary 2 years ago, this ships quality didn’t compare. We still made it good and had a mostly enjoyable time. Came back home and within a few days had a respiratory infection which I still haven’t 100% kicked yet.

Just keeps getting better.. by darcythompson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

I love sailing on the Escape and don’t mind what others may see as a deterrent. Yes the seas can be a little rocky when we leave NYC and depending on the month, it can be a little or a lot chilly but the staff and what the ship offers brings me back every time. I love that senior leaders make walking rounds and truly care about their guests. I can’t imagine not sailing in a “freestyle” environment. I had made friends with other cruisers and staff and it feels like I’m with family each time. Venues like the District BrewHouse, the Vibe and Food Republic are exactly my style and taste and that is where I spend the majority of my time. I thinking cruising can be extremely subjective and I’ve been lucky enough to find a line and ship that meets all my needs and what I’m looking for.

A most relaxing cruise to Bermuda by slrrpl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Overall we had a very nice time. We like going to Bermuda because you have 3 days to explore what the island has to offer. There is more to do than you think. The food was excellent. The accomodations were excellent. We stayed in the Haven, so service was even more exceptional. We stayed in the Haven on another cruise and we won't stay anywhere else. You can't beat the service, privacy and special perks. The benefits well out way the cost!

We just got off the... by MikeRutledge

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

We just got off the cruise about eight hours ago so things are fresh. We traveled as a family of six and stayed in two separate rooms. My wife and I stayed in a balcony suite and my four children, 24, 12, 11, and 8 stayed in an interior room, adjacent to us on level 14. The ship was sold to us as being very kid friendly. We were on Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas last year and we all loved it. Anyway, this cruise was nice but I would not travel this same ship again with children. Some of my issues were uncontrollable as the weather was not that great. Due to windy conditions the ropes course was shut down many days. The mini golf course was fun for about two rounds, but after that it became very boring. The course was pretty easy and a little bit glitchy as balls would get stuck easily in places. Also, not sure why but there was a constant smell of raw sewage on by the mini golf course. The sports deck had a very nice basketball court and included a few small soccer nets and soccer balls. Unfortunately, it was never staffed and a few older people would sometimes “hog” the area so others couldn’t use it. The ropes course when open was a good time. It was one of the highlights of my daughter’s time on the ship. I thought it was challenging and fun as well. If you want to take pictures while up there you will need a chest strap camera holder which I had. Food was pretty good. We did not use any special restaurants and I loved the free style concept of just showing up whenever. My family of six never had to wait more than ten minutes to be seated. Most nights we are at the Manhattan room and aside from one waiter all service was excellent along with the views of the water and the bands playing. The Garden Cafe (buffet) was surprisingly good and visited often. Was always able to find seats for all six of us. Great desserts and breakfast. A small pub called O’Sheens, served food from the buffet 24 hours but was prepared nicely. My stateroom was a balcony suite and served us well. It was comfortable, clean and had plenty of space for the two of us. The room steward was pretty much behind the scenes and not the friendliest but he did a great job keeping my room and my kids room clean and organized. They had an interior room with bunk beds. Other things I can think of was the disembarking process was a cluster. If you can carry all your stuff out by yourself take that option. We did the New York to Bermuda trip and it was a lovely place. I do not recommend going in May, or at least early May. The water temperatures were not that warm. Due to the colder weather the pools were chilly the first two days. Speaking of pools there is an adult pool and kids pool, along with the water park which was closed at times due to high winds or not practical due to cold temps tires. It is not enough in my opinion. I believe the Haven has one of their own but of course it is not accessible to the commoner. I will add my 8 year old LOVED the kids club. He went as often as he could and made many friends. My 11 and 12 year old thoughtnit was too boring and did not go back after the first night. I didn’t see many kids their age utilize it. The teen club seemed to have a bunch of kids. My wife used the spa for a massage and facial. She said it was over priced and one of the weakest ones she has received. Check your account after, as we realized she was overcharged $20.00, along with their mandatory 20% gratuity. The guest services were very good in resolving that problem, along with a problem involving on bird credits from a credit card and an issue with me being charged gratuities even though it was included in my package. The game shows were fun and my family was picked often to go on stage. One of the highlights of the cruise. Not sure what else to add...
