Review summary

Overall we had a very nice time. We like going to Bermuda because you have 3 days to explore what the island has to offer. There is more to do than you think. The food was excellent. The accomodations were excellent. We stayed in the Haven, so service was even more exceptional. We stayed in the Haven on another cruise and we won't stay anywhere else. You can't beat the service, privacy and special perks. The benefits well out way the cost!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room was very good. We really enjoyed the Teppenyaki. It was entertaining and delicious. The service was outstanding. Our favorite was Cagney's Steak House. The food was exceptional and the menu had something for everyone.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We purchased the Thermal Spa package. We liked the one on the Dawn much better. It offered some interesting treatments, ie: the Salt Bath, but was mostly one hot tub and a Thermal Pool. You can experience a hot tub all over the place on the ship. The Thermal Pool was very nice and had many types of jets and other relaxation options. However, it was very crowded. In general the place was quite crowded. They claim they old sold 80 passes, but neglect to tell you that it has a maximum occupancy of 200 (way to many people for the space and offerings.) They also don't tell you about the Haven Spa rooms that are allowed access. They have these amazing heated ceramic lounges. The only problem is that many people save them using personal items. They keep them saved for an hour or more. This is against the spa rules since there is only about 15 of them. After complaining to the spa personnel nothing was done to deter the practice. It was quite frustrating after paying over $300 for two passes. Overall, we wouldn't do it again!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We were surprised at the limited amount of entertainment. We are use to having a nightly show in the theater. They did not have this. Entertainment was spread out among the ship. The problem with this is that the spaces are limited and you can't always get in. They had a show called "The Choir Man." It was excellent. Apparently they are going to start touring around varies cities. If they come to our area we will definitely go. Another activity was "The big Top." This was an escape room activity. It was excellent and so much fun. A must do! We saw a comedian in the Headliners Lounge. It was so-so. We also went to a magician act in the Supper Club. The food was not very good. The menu was fixed with one choice. The choice happened to be salmon for the night we went. Neither one of us like salmon. They offered us an alternative of pasta. It was just alfredo noodles with sauce poured over it. It was very bland and boring. They had another act during the week that we were interested in but we didn't go because it was in the Supper Club. There are so many good restaurants on board that we weren't going to waste our time eating there. So we didn't see the show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service overall was very good. We had a few times when it wasn't as good as other, but overall it was very good.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very clean. The layout and design wasn't as good as other ships we've been on. Locations of things were a bit disjointed and mixed with things that didn't make sense. We had a very hard time remembering where restaurants and bars where because they were all over the ship and sometimes in weird spots.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We find Norweign to have smaller rooms than the other cruiselines. With that said, our room was very nice. Only problem we had was with the bathroom. The shower has two doors that meet in the middle. On sea days when the water was rougher the doors wouldn't stay shut when you were showering. We fix this by using a hair tie to keep the doors closed, but it was frustrating.

Ship tip

Be prepared to wait. The restuarants are crowded and their is often limited availability. Also, always make reservations if they are available to assure you have access to dining and entertainment.

Ports of call

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

4 out of 5
This was our third time there so we are pretty familiar with the Island. We love walking around the Royal Navy Dockyard and enjoying the shops and activities. We always save time to do this. We did take the the free ferry to St. George's. We had a very nice time there, however, outside of shopping there isn't much to see. But it is still worth exploring. We also did a night time fishing excursion. We really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun with the other passengers and catching fish. The crew was wonderful!
