Very nice, but not great by kkhouse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The purpose of this trip was to relax and get away, which was accomplished. I had heard great things about Norwegian, but I would only give the experience a "good" rating, not a "great" one. The food and service were no comparison to Disney, but the entertainment and spa were better. A side note on the entertainment is that this trip was just myself and husband (no kids); these shows were geared more for adults. Disney entertainment was great, but more suited for families with kids. I would cruise Norwegian again, but maybe on a smaller ship. For the money spent, this trip was a good value. Doing the same itinerary on Disney would have cost twice as much.

Disorganized and understaffed by jcardy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I had a good time overall as it is what you make of it. Norwegian needs to overhaul their app, needs more organization on embarkation and disembarkation process. Staff needs more help at the limited bars and a full ship. The ports were great and easy to get around in.

AWFUL cruise! Food, Entertainment and Service was HORRIBLE! Our "Balcony room was enclosed like just having a large port hole - such a disappointment. They try to up-sell everything to get service or good food. The Bahamas stop was DISGUSTING too! by kimberlycove

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! I would not suggest Norwegian cruise to anyone. The servers were disgruntle, the food was lousy, the only port that was decent was Tortola beach.

Awesome Eastern Caribbean Cruise! by Alexhph

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall, I had an awesome and great time on this Eastern Caribbean cruise on NCL Epic. All the people I encountered all the ship were very nice, had great altitude, and made sure I had a fun experience. The studio room was and continue to be a great addition to offer to solo travelers and I can say it is a genius move. I really appreciated everyone who made it happened.

Haven Experience by schevel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We were treated like Royalty with our Haven experience. We would cruise this ship again, but only in the Haven. Next time, it will not be during spring break.

Enjoyable Cruise by sjchilds

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was an enjoyable cruise of the Caribbean with wonderful food, many on board , fun opportunities and, for the most part, a great staff. The ship is well maintained. I’d readily sail again on this ship.

I've had better experiences of Carnival and Royal Carribean. Probably never use Norwegian Cruise Lines again. Very disappointing

Just okay by letsroll

Small pools, no music at adult pool. Poor food unless you paid for upgrade restaurants. And then just okay. Service was not great.

Big ship. Big crowds. Big lines. by dgd32862

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Epic is a big ship. On this cruise it meant big crowds and long lines everywhere. The first long line was for checking in. The line was triple-wrapped outside before going up stairs into more line mazes through security. While we've had some long lines checking in before, this was by far the longest. Once on the ship we found our next set of long lines: the elevators. We're pretty used to elevators being very popular on cruise ships, but these were always jam packed with people. Often several elevators had to stop and pass before one had enough room to add a person or two. One reason for this was due to two large groups being on the ship, and had meetings on common rooms. Whenever their meetings would end, the elevators would be jam packed for the next 15 minutes or so from their level on the 5th or 6th floor, all the way up to the buffet on 15. The buffets had lines, the bars had lines to get drinks, the guest services desk always seemed to have a line back into the atrium, etc. Strangely enough the places without lines were the entertainment shows. We saw the Epic Beatles, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Burn the Floor in the theatre. Each time the theatre was less than half-full for those shows. The shows were great, but both Priscilla and Burn were played on 2 nights each, which meant looking for other entertainment if one had already seen them. If you need the Internet on a cruise ship, look elsewhere. Norwegian is 10 years behind other cruise lines. I got much better Internet on my 2009 cruise than on this one, and I paid for the top quality package. On the good side, the food was wonderful everywhere. Our room steward was top-notch. Having the complimentary extras such as the unlimited beverage package and the two nights of specialty dining was wonderful. We'll never get the beverage package on our own -- $99 plus another $20 in tip -- I can't imagine drinking that much in a day, even at $20 a beer. We ended up at 3 specialty restaurants and loved them all (Moderno Churrascaria, Cagney's, Sushi). Our balcony was very spacious and very private. The private island Stirrup Cay is like all other cruise line's islands -- it's a great place to spend a day at the beach, or snorkel. They told us to take our IDs, key cards, and money with us to purchase souvenirs from local merchants. Then we go to the island to snorkel, and there are no lockers to put up our valuables. Of course, there were lines galore, from the tenders, to the BBQ buffet, to the bars, to the restrooms, etc. Again, I think this cruise had more passengers than expected due to the groups, which likely had many sleeping 3 to a cabin. But the end result was still lines after lines after lines. Getting off the ship was like a root canal. First we were supposed to be off by 10:00am. In the past, we've been told a time, and usually we are off well before that time. Not this time. At 10:30 we finally get off the ship, but the lines have just started. We wind down to get our luggage, then we get into another long line to go through customs. We finally make it through customs at 11:30. By then people coming for the next cruise are backing up the bag drop/pickup area, so I just carried my bags to the car in the parking garage. I know that larger cruise ships are what the cruise lines are pushing nowadays, but I think I'll stick to the slightly smaller ones in the future.

I would not recommend this ship to anyone. They do not have an enclosed bathroom. The room we had had a balcony with a solid wall. No view at all. The food in the dining rooms was not very good. by vickym549

Give other Norwegian ships a try. They far surpass this ship.

Service & food/beverage sub par. Cabin space extremely small even for only 2 occupants. by kaptnkman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Don't bother with "specialty" dining. Mixed drinks were definitely watered down (by ALL accounts.) Stick to beer & wine. Get to shows/ entertainment AT LEAST 45 minutes before scheduled time or you can plan on standing the entire time.

Very disappointed with cabin size, too small. Also the stop in St. Thomas was too short. Can't do anything in the time allowed i.e. from 7 AM to 1;30 PM. It should be from 8;00 am to 5:00 pm. This was a complain from many passenger. Epic is out of our next cruise.
