Second Time Is A Charm! by vermeernyc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This is our second time on the Breakaway and enjoyed it much better this time! Our favorite parts of the cruise was the cabin comfort, service, entertainment and the H2O waterfall located on deck 16 aft.  What really needs improvement are those most uncomfortable seats in the Breakaway Theater.  I am still aching today!  Foods served in all complementary dining rooms were at best warm, seems to be a problem getting hot food!  Of course, after each complaint, food was returned hot!  I would recommend this ship to others, it is an overall very good value!

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I don't need to lift a finger. It seems like 3 vacations one on the SHIP / then in the port of Bermuda / then on the SHIP again.... so much to do ... go from one great time to another. Never a dull moment... each time I do this trip I experience more fun ... wish the trip never would end. We get so in to the activitys we get lost in time..Love

Loved it all! by mpapbr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We kept as busy as we wanted to - my husband and myself.  We did this same cruise two years ago and probably will do it yet again in two more years.  Been on many cruises but this was our favorite.  The food and the choices of food were unbelievable.  The on-ship shows and talks and info items were great.

You get what you paid for by Cruiser49513013

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The NCL Breakaway is a huge ship with the crowds to go with it. They've tried to break the hordes into many dining venues which does give one more options than a smaller ship. (We missed having a grand dining room although The Manhattan Room with live music and a dance floor was nice.)

The biggest benefits: extraordinary live shows (and the cheap price).

Another plus was staying in Bermuda 2 nights versus the typical in at 7am and out at 4pm.  If you like having 5 water slides (for adults - these are fast!), a bowling alley, and numerous kid activities this might be a cruise for you.

Smaller cabins, overwhelming crowds, SMOKING areas scattered around so the odor is many places, poor dining room service, and mediocre food were some of the negatives.

9/11 Breakaway to Bermuda by jerryo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Excellent Cruise although there were 3 tropical storms in the area we had calm seas and smooth sailing. Embarkation was crowded and disorganized, they had to find 2 people on the boat from the previous cruise that did not leave. Held up thousands of us for about 1 hour.

The food was very good in all the restaurants, the thing I did not like was all the extra charge meals in the main dining rooms. We always got a table for 2 with no waiting. Service was very good.

We had a mini suite, same as a regular balcony stateroom but a large ultra modern bathroom.

Pool area was always crowded but you could always find chairs around the ship. Disembarking was pretty smooth. Overall a very good cruise. Looking forward to our next one.Happy

NCL Breakaway by navyret

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Bermuda great! The pool that is for most of the passengers is about the size of my bathroom. Way to small when your at sea and all the passengers are up there. I've been on much smaller ships that have a larger pool.

Breakaway cruise by ranjan65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Needs more pool area for the number of people. I also feel if they had  one out side walk way in one floor that people could walk from one end of the ship to the other end without going thru the restaurant  or other public places. They had similar arrangements in American Pride, and also in Norwegian  Jewel.

Slow service, same food everyday for buffet, but beautiful island by apycheung613

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

If you like slow services, same food and same entertainment everyday then this is your cruise. The buffet menu for breakfast and lunch don't change by much, I'll say about 80% is the same. My room service attendant don't clean my room until like 3 in the afternoon, I've seen him about twice only during my whole trip. The one time I tried the main dining room for breakfast, the service was slow. I didn't even get my coffee until after I finished my fruit cup, and another couple left because after 15 minutes and they got nothing, they walked off. I had to flag the matre'd to get more creamer even though I've ask the waiter and he never brought it. We went as a group, and the room were not far, or so we though when we booked it, but apparently the access to the rooms were on opposite side, layout was not convenient. They supply bottle water etc in the room, but I never got a bottle, but I was charged for it. The outdoor water slide was nice, the pool is salt water and the hot tub was just above luke warm. I didn't try the rope course or rock climbing but looks fine. Zip line was never opened. Teppanyaki was good. I like the live band in Manhattan room during dinner.

Breakaway to Bermuda by ese735

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

we had a good trip with friends. All the food was delicious, ship was clean and  staff attentive. Our butler did a fantastic job and we have no complaints.  We had two issues, one with the room steward not cleaning our room.  She did not vacuum daily and did a poor job cleaning the bathroom.  The second issue was with the floor in the shower.  It was cracked and broken where you stand and the broken floor pinched our feet. Because of the floor being cracked, it held water and the room had a smell of mildew.

Great week to Bermuda by Enjoy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We really enjoyed the itinerary of this cruise.  Sailing out of New York was beautiful with relaxing days at sea.  Bermuda beaches are fantastic!  easy to take bus or ferry to destinations on the island if you don't want to book a bunch of tours.  We thought the round the island tour was a good one.  Really liked the ship although there seemed to be a lot of smoking areas that we constantly walking through.  Smoking areas were not well sectioned off.  Food was excellent although there was an up charge for some menu items in the regular dining rooms, something we had not experienced on other cruise lines.  Overall I would recommend this cruise.

Breakaway to Bermuda by msarno629

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The ease of embarkation and disembarking made this trip a breeze.  We had a wonderful time on sea days and our time in Bermuda was perfect. our room steward Rene was so attentive and friendly.   Would highly recommend this cruise. We sailed on 9/11/16 and had a moment of silence passing by the Freedom Tower and the Statue of Liberty.  Very emotional for all.

Breakaway to Bermuda by joyce123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The Breakaway is a great ship, but there isn't enough pool space.  The other problem with the pool and hot tubs is rules and regulations are not enforced.  Towels are left on chairs at 6:30 AM for hours with no one on them.  Children are in the hot tubs for 5-6 hours using them as swimming pools, jumping, going under water.  Also, I took the Breakaway last September and this September and the shows are the same.  The shows should be changed every 6 months for repeat cruisers.  Otherwise, Norwegian is a great cruise line.

Ups and Downs by bobp84177646

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The Breakaway is a beautiful ship. Except for the small pool, the layout is excellent. It is well maintained and the staff is friendly. Bermuda is safe, clean, and has the most beautiful beaches I have seen anywhere. Bring or rent a mask and snorkel. Don't go before, during, or after a tropical storm or hurricane. They won't tell you about sea conditions until the boat has left the port!

Good ship/Cheap Food by scooterq513

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Breakaway is a beautiful ship. However, the pool area is overcrowded and not well designed. My greatest displeasure was the quality of the food. Steak in the regular dining rooms was tough. The specialty restaurants were a disappointment. Modern for many is a novelty. However, I eat at Brazilian Steakhouses monthly and the quality of meat offered onboard was B+ at best! La Cecina, the Italian restaurant, didn't understand the concept of a base sauce on pasta so they brought bolognese which was terrible and way too salty. O'Sheehan's might have the worst food ever served on a cruise ship. Plus, they advertise to go and watch your favorite games. Unfortunately, they could not figure how to show any college football games on a Saturday in September. Really? A Sports Bar and no football?

Shows were fun and staff super friendly and attentive.

Unless the food is improved, I would not be in a hurry to take NCL again (first time on this line, 10 times on cruises).

Loved it by tuckerp

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Bermuda was beautiful!  We loved Horseshoe Bay Beach and St. George's.  This was our second cruise on the Breakaway.  The ship has ton's of amenities.  The entertainment is very good.  This time we saw Burn The Floor and Oh What A Night - both excellent.  The food in the ship's dining  rooms - Manhattan room, Savor, and Taste was very good.  Specialty restaurant - Cagney's Steak House was excellent.  We liked that it was freestyle dining.  The cruise director Dan Dan was fantastic and the ships staff were all very friendly.  The disembarkation process, however, took a very long time.

Highly recommended by audjack322

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was our third cruise. We have tried carnival and the Norwegian gem but this cruise was by far superior. Excellent service, food and amenities to keep you entertained. We tried both the complimentary restaurants and specialty. All were fantastic. Great cruise for kids as there were plenty of activities to choose from. Free style dinning was great. We would definitely recommend this cruise and Bermuda was amazing as well. For first time vacationers to Bermuda, I would definitely recommend the hidden gems all inclusive tour. Just amazing...

Need to be more helpful when medicine is taken or thrown out by others by nieves5454

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Don't get me wrong. This was a great cruise and Bermuda is beautiful. My only issue with Norwegian is that a brand new insulin vial was stolen or thrown out from my stateroom mini bar. I wear an insulin pump and have 2 only change the vial for my pump every 3 days, so didn't notice it was taken until then. The only thing that Norwegian Guest Services suggested I do while I was on board was go to the medical office, get assessed by the doctor to then determine if I can receive insulin, which i had to pay $396.00 for, To see the doctor was $186.00 because it was off hours, was I really suppose to wait until his actual work hours! : /  Then i had to pay $210.00 for a vial of insulin. They didn't try to help me at all because there was no proof but they didn't check the camera footage, which there is a camera right outside my stateroom. They also said they would send Security to our room to double check the room incase it was misplace along with my husband and I present. Security was never sent. Norwegian will not reimburse us the money, instead I was told that I have to put it through to my medical & presciption insurance in order to get reimbursed but Norwegian wants to charge another $75 to receive the report needed to send to my insurance company. Not bad enough I already gave them almost $400.00. Now they want another $75.00 ontop of that.  They've taken no responsibility for what has happened.  I've been cruising with Norwegian for 6 yrs and have never had a problem like this or a situation they weren't willing to try and resolve. If it weren't for this situation, it would have been such a great cruise and they would hav gotten more than 3 stars. I do have a case pending with them and hope it works out in my favor or I will never cruise with them again.
