staff was excellent

food was very good

we did not like the fact that the adult pool was 18 and over. we believe that 13 + would be ok in the adult pool.

i did not like the fact that the blackjack tables use 6 decks of cards.

Dining was excellent. Free shows were ok. Magic show was fabulous. Burn the Floor was distasteful! Large shop with alot of people. Look was too small.

Loved it! by kaylajaouen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The cruise overall was fantastic. There's something for everybody. My mom and I went - I am 22 and my mom is 50 and we both had a great time. The shows were amazing we saw rock of ages (hilarious), burn the floor, and the cirque one which included a 3 course meal for only 47$. Even though there is 4,000+ people on board it never felt crowded. There were dances every night on the top deck including 70s night, 80s night, and 90s night and a glow party which was a blast. There's 4/5 water slides and a rope course with a zip line which was fun too. The cruise director Alvin and his assistant Mandie were a lot of fun and got involved with all the activities. They had game shows every night which were hilarious. I would recommend this cruise to anyone at any age.

First cruise! by mari87amt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

It was our first 7day cruise, my fiancee and I went on and we loved it!

The crew and staff was so nice and courteous. Our steward was amazing and we always enjoyed the warm smile they all gave us and took care of us. It was a great experience and we definitely would love to go on another cruise again. Only down fall was we would have love to have more time on bermuda the last day we had to be at the dockyard at 230pm so it was really like 2days and a half instead of 3 full days. Overall it was a great experience.

The Haven was wonderful!! by optimisticbynature

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We really enjoyed our cruise. The ship, staff, and food were great, with many varieties & restaurants options.  The boys enjoyed the waterslides. Embarkation and Disembarkation could not have been quicker.  We recommend The Haven wholehartedly!

great trippool by abro585

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

pleasantly surprised at efficiency in main and specialty dining rooms. Food was great...never had to wait to be served.... pools much to small for such a large ship.

Rock of Ages too loud and not enjoyable for me...Burn the Floor was good and singers in Atrium very good. Stateroom was fine and room steward, Gerald, was great. In fact-all service personnel were terrific. They went out of their way to accommodate.

Constricted ship by oldivyfarms

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Let me start out by saying the overall trip to Bermuda was great. I would have given a five star rating except that the Breakaway cruise ship is big, but constricted. Its like they crammed 10 lbs. of stuff in a 5 lbs. bag. The ship was difficult to move about it was like walking through a maze. The walk areas were narrow and most became quickly congested as the passengers came out to the decks. I would do the destination again, but not on the Breakaway. We had a balcony stateroom, the only thing was that the balcony was way too small, apart of the constrictions. Literally big enough to have two chairs and a small table. You had to move them around just to get on the balcony.

Awesome Family Cruise to Bermuda! by traversm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Our favorite parts of the cruise to Bermuda on the Norwegian Breakaway was the great tasting food, the beauty of the island of Bermuda along with the included Beverage/Specialty Dining Package!

A couple of things for Norwegian to consider would be an All-night create your own pizza station like Carnival has on their ship, the Pride that goes out of Baltimore.  More activities (like Ping-pong & pools still being open to swim for example) available in the later hours for those of us that stay up late.

All said, this was our best cruise out of four cruises within the past five years!

Too Kid Friendly by CindyGood

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The ship did not have a very good layout, and kids were constantly near us.  We still had a great time because of the friends we were with, however we wish the adults only areas were larger.  Bermuda was wonderful, and the food was fair.

Satisfactory but not extraordinary by donnaciulla

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Liked the fact that it left from New York for convenience.  Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.  Food was adequate but could have been more vegetarian options.  Entertainment was so so.

Exceeded expectations! by Derbygirl17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was my second cruise.  First with NCL.  I really didn't know what to expect after reading so many mixed and/or negative reviews about this ship.  I am happy to report our cruise was a complete success in every aspect.  NCL cruise staff is outstanding, ship immaculately clean and modern, & food was above average.   We didn't find the crowds especiallly bothersome.  Bermuda was gorgeous.   My only complaint is NCL seems fond of nickel and diming their guests while on ship with extra charges for everything.  However, we were able to navigate around this nuisance.   Highly recommend Breakaway cruise to Bermuda.

Good Times by NewJerseycruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Getting on to ship was easy and getting off ship was even easier, no more then 20 minutes either way. Our stateroom and ship well maintained and clean. Food was good but wish in main dining rooms had a little more choices. Didn't like the idea of having only 2 free shows for week, third show includes dinner and have to pay, use to having different show each night. Docked in Kings Warf and was on wrong side of ship, I selected port side because that usually means when docked will be facing Bermuda. We traveled with 2 other couples and had good time.

Bermuda Cruise- Pleasant Break by tsigel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The Bermuda Cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway was a pleasant break, but I would not go on a ship of this size in the future. There were way too many people. It was like a noisy, overcrowded floating hotel. We had to wait to get into restaurants; services ranged from poor to excellent. The food was good, but not outstanding. The room was comfortable and the steward very good. Bermuda was interesting to see and I learned a great deal about the island, so it was educational, but I would not return. There are too many other places to see. If you like huge crowds, a jammed packed, noisy pool deck and standing in lines for meals and to get a drink this cruise is for you.

Problems by bigdedwards

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

the ship was beautiful it really isn't free style dining as they say you need to make reservations to eat at times you want was never told that had settle with what they had was very upset with also payed for dining package but was never told it was for certain restaurants not all of. I have used cruie411 for many years and told many people about them  but this time we felt we were left in the cold and I will have to think very hard about using them again and just go cruise line myself

Great Deal, Ship and Port of Call by snowflake394

The Breakaway is a great ship, the price was right and Bermuda is unbelievable. Leaving out of New York was convenient. I would definitely do the same cruise with the Breakaway again.

Great Voyage to Bermuda by charlotte49

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Yes I would recommend  this cruise line and the ship to many people.  The crew was very willing to help.

They repaired our suitcase that was broken when placed on the ship by the dock workers.

It would be nice for first time travelers with NCL that they work have an meeting to explain how things work.  For example: the TV in your room, info you use to book dinner, shows.  We did not know the shows were limited seating.  We did not know we could go to the Garden Cafe for lunch when we came on the Ship.

Vuk Malobabic Hotel director is hands on. You will see him on and about the ship and is willing to help in any way he can.  He is right out there with his staff.  Our stateroom was beautiful and clean.  NCL customer service has a very good staff.

Debarkation is one that needs help.  I like the free style, but they seem to only have one way off.  4500 people can not get off the ship timely.  It is a long process.

Bermuda is beautiful by magpiekruse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Leaving out of New York, sailing past the Statue of Liberty  is a treat for those who don't live in the area.  This was my first time in Bermuda.  It is a very nice island.  I took the five hour island bus tour to get the lay of the land, which was really worth it.  There are several attractions within walking distance of the ship including the national museum and commissioners house, a Dolphin encounter and a small man- made beach.

The Breakaway is a nice resort ship-- lots of activities.  Ropes course, water slides, mini golf, jogging track, spa, etc.

Not a fan of the idea of The Haven, a segregated part of the ship for first class-- their own bar, restaurant, pool so they don't have to mingle with the unwashed masses.  So backward.

First Time NCL - It was just OKAY. by FrenchCanRican

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Quick background:  Female, 40, 15 previous cruises on Carnival, Royal, and Celebrity.

First time on NCL and below are the reason I enjoyed the cruise:

Nice overall ship décor, very clean modern. Stateroom Forward Oceanview was large and bright. Food was Great. Service was Great. Private NCL transport via catamaran to St. George’s was nice. Rock of All ages was really fun.

Below are the main reasons for my dislike:

Bad Ship design/Layout. Felt crowed at all times. The pool is the size of a postage stamp. Not enough activities for (3) sea days. I felt nickeled and dimed at every venue/event. Gym was oddly laid out and very small. Not enough machines or space to stretch. Having to pay extra to go to the sauna/steam room is a rip off. Entertainment is repeated too much. One can only go to Howl at the Moon for a few hours. Theater is old and seats are uncomfortable. It’s hard to sit there for 90 minutes and not have a backside ache.

Overall I would NOT go on NCL again.
