This boat needs to be retired. The whole floor plans are outdated and did not leave much for activities onboard. Very disappointing
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Embarkation at the select few ports that required a tender were horrible. Long wait and very few boats were being used to get a lot of people off the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The dining rooms were blah. Food portions were extremely small leaving you needing to go through the buffet line to get enough for a meal. (I’m a very healthy & fit person) I don’t overeat and look for healthy foods. This ship lacked professionalism and treated us as children.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
There were very little activities on board. Just lots of dancing. The pool was extremely small and always crowded leaving no room for pool activities. You felt like a sardine if you went in the water and then it took forever to get the smell off you. Disgusting 🤮
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The main entertainment were the dancers that looked like throwback Vegas dancers. The magician was a joke.
Children's Programs
I do not have kids
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
We never even got introduced or saw our room steward. The staff were very unprofessional and singing children songs every day even though there were very few kids.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
Layout of the ship was horrible. Felt overcrowded. Only one small pool on the top deck that was smelly and overcrowded (soup).
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Cabin was adequate but small.
Ship tip
The Breakaway is an older boat and needs to be retired. I’ve been on a lot of cruises and this boat is not up to date and is a huge disappointment. Do not sail on the breakaway
Drove the Amalfi coast. Could have seen more had the boat stayed longer in port. Had to be back onboard by 6pm but the boat didn’t leave port till midnight 😡
Any review titled “worst cruise ever” can basically be ignored. I’ve sailed on several Breakaway class ships and found them to be laid out well and very functional. Personally I’d say they are better in many ways than the new Prima class. Small dining portions are a good thing, because you can get more than one, as well as appetizers and desserts if you choose.
Never been on the Breakaway but never had anything but great service on NCL. Also do you know how lucky you were doing that itinerary, such a shame you didn’t rate most of it! Skip the line tickets are readily available for the Acropolis. Just saying.
Only 10 years old. That is barely middle aged compared to some ships from the 90’s that are still going strong. Sorry that you could find nothing to do on the ship, but it is not a mega ship with many toys to spend your money on. Better planning next time.
