Alaska Adventure by TxGaCo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Such a great family vacation! Time together on a beautiful ship and great adventures at each port. When people ask what was your favorite thing about the cruise, I am stumped...the whole trip was wonderful and one that we will never forget!

Loved the Norwegian bliss to... by queenbeemig

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Loved the Norwegian bliss to Alaska. Beautiful ship and I have to say the crew does an incredible job of keeping the ship in immaculate condition. it was spotless and always fresh smelling. The best part of the ship is the outside boardwalk area. Beautiful spot while you’re in glacier Bay and also if you are in search of a little relaxation and quiet time as many people do not frequent the area. also, if you’re searching for a quiet area with a beautiful view all around don’t miss the observation lounge at the top deck of the ship. The bartenders there are awesome and they have a nice breakfast way you don’t have to be part of the buffet hustle and bustle. They also do mid afternoon snacks and stuff. Those are my two favorite spots on the ship. Love Norwegian and would always sail with them

Overall a nice ship but... by megankcollins

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Overall a nice ship but not perfect! We did the Alaskan itinerary so couldn't use the pools or outside decks as often! Some entertainment was better than others. Not much to do during middle of the day! Had to pay extra for onboard activities. Food was hit or miss throughout the cruise! We had a nice vacation but could have been better!

Beautiful scenery of Alaska by Magier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Loved the scenery, Alaska is absolutely beautiful. Would love to go again, don't think I would return on the Norwegian. I would enjoy a smaller ship next time around.

Family fun to Alaska by cbrslc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

It was fun to be together as a family. I think our experience would have been better on a smaller, more traditional ship. We wanted to give NCL a shot. We’ll return to RC and Holland Am mid size ships.

Best ship, better than the Oasis class from Royal. This one feels like a cruise ship and not a mall. Absolutely fanatastic!!! Cant wait for my next NCL cruise

A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE by GLW513

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Just remember that the Bliss is a BIG ship. You will wait for overcrowded elevators and you will have to get to anything on the ship early. If they tell you that the show is not suitable for children, believe them. The restaurants are excellent, and the food is superb. All of the staff that we encountered were nice and pleasant and really went out of there way to ensure that we had a wonderful vacation.

Retirement Cruise by MarkNealon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

WiFi lacking at best, food selection and taste not as good as I had hoped. The entire cruise was fun, need more time in Ketchikan and Victoria, BC, 4 hours is not enough.

Alaska is beautiful! by JABradner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Loved Alaska! Nice weather with a few rainy days. Not enough entertainment or booking times. The activities you have to pay extra. Be prepared to be bombarded to buy acupuncture, Botox, massage, facials, etc etc. Also, NOT enough times at the ports. It would have been nice to explore the towns.

Midwestrancher Just got back from 7... by midwestrancher

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Midwestrancher Just got back from 7 day Alaskan cruise with kids, grandkids and great grandson. 10 of us in all. As an experienced cruiser with over 40 cruises I found the Bliss to be very disappointing. Never before have I felt like cattle being herded. Into the buffet like cattle, round and round you went to find food, round and around you went to find a table. On other cruise lines there are free members to assist you in getting seated, bringing you drinks and generally making sure you are having an enjoying experience. Not so on the Bliss. You are on your own and heaven forbid if you have to ask a crewmember for help. We had a birthday of one of the grandkids and that night at dinner I presented the birthday card for a special cake to the waiter. He actually rolled his eyes when I ask for a special presentation. It got to be a big deal as I had to talk to 3 different people before the kiddo got his cake and a birthday song. The managers were all over the wait staff about getting things done and chewing them out in front of passengers. Tacky tacky. The managers in their black suits and headphones made for a n uncomfortable dinner as they were like guards in a prison watching everything and never never smiling.. Needless to say I'll never book another NFL cruise again. Your crewmembers need to be trained to be customer friendly.

Just finished the 7 day... by JF79

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Just finished the 7 day Alaska. This is my 2nd Alaska cruise with NCL. My previous was on the NCL Pearl 2 years ago. The NCL Bliss is of course a mega ship. I have also been in the NCL Epic, another mega ship. If you are a frequent cruiser I would strongly suggest considering smaller ships. The mega ship concept is great if you enjoy all of the latest and greatest amenities such as go karts, laser tags, big water slides, etc. However, mega ships are very crowded feeling. The elevators on NCL Bliss are a SERIOUS issue. There are only 2 banks of elevators on this ship. Most have 3 banks. The aft elevators tend to be less busy. If you are a smoker you will NOT like this ship. Only one small smoking section on 17 aft and in an enclosed area in the casino. Non-smokers love this...smokers will hate this ship. NCL has definitely improved their quality of food. Significantly better than 2 years ago when I was on the Pearl. The entertainment options are not great on this ship. They could certainly improve this. Vastly different from other NCL ships. The theatre is tiny compared to other ships. Many activities are held in the small atrium. This space is too small for this. Big miss on this. Another miss is the time allowed in Ketchikan and Victoria. Way too short. NCL should plan this out a bit better as both are beautiful places that you won’t want to miss. Bottom line, if you like the crowded mega ship concept then this cruise/ship will please you. As an avid/experienced cruiser myself, I would STRONGLY suggest considering smaller ships. Unfortunately, NCL only sails the mega ships for the Alaskan itineraries. You may want to consider another cruise line with smaller, more reasonable size ships. I’m two mega ships in and I will never do another one. Only ships less than 100K GT’s for me from now on. I hope this review helps you with your decision making. Bon Voyage fellow cruise mates!

We very much enjoyed the cruise. Staying in a suite wit Haven privileges was expensive. We traveled with 2 other couples who were not in the Haven and they enjoyed the cruise as well.
