Review summary

Such a great family vacation! Time together on a beautiful ship and great adventures at each port. When people ask what was your favorite thing about the cruise, I am stumped...the whole trip was wonderful and one that we will never forget!

Embarkation

We arrived at about 11:30 am, and had a very short wait since we are platinum level.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was very good. I was on a special diet, and the dining staff went to great lengths to provide what I needed. The specialty restaurants we ate at were Cagney's, Teppanyaki, the Food Republic, and Q. We had a late reservation at Q right when the band was beginning. The food at Q was good and the music was really good, but I would not select as a paid specialty dining option again. There are so many other options available. Cagney's is always good and Teppanyaki was our favorite specialty choice.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We played trivia and saw demos in the atrium several times. So many people in that area that they had to bring out a lot of folding chairs. The family signed up for the race track. I tried, but quit early because I was holding up traffic (Sunday Driver) and I had a difficult time sterring around tight bends (no power steering). I did have a difficult time getting in and out of the vehicle! The other family members loved it!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Beatles Tribute and the Jersey Boys were FANTASTIC! We did see Prohibition the Musical, the girls were very talented, but I would not pay extra again to see it...many other entertainment options available and is definitely suitable for an audience that is not offended by language and gestures.

We had an aft facing balcony and really liked it a lot. The balcony was large enough that it had two lounge chairs, two regular chairs and a small table. It was the perfect location for viewing Glacier Bay. We enjoyed mimosas and the view!

Ship tip

There are only two banks of elevators and the forward elevator was always crowded. We usually walked to the aft elevators and used them. Since our room was on deck 9 we found it conveniently located and used the stairs to get to the atrium and other areas.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

We arrived two days early so we could take in some of the sites. We enjoyed the Chihuly Garden and Museum, as well as Pike's Market. I bought flowers at Pike's Market and had them arranged in a vase to take on the cruise for our room. The flowers were beautiful and lasted the whole cruise!

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and we had very smooth sailing. 17 years ago we did a few days on land and a southbound cruise and was able to see more of the interior of Alaska. We enjoyed both trips and would love to visit Alaska again.

Juneau, Alaska

We booked our Helicopter Glacier Dog Sledding tour with Temsco helicopters in Juneau. A pricey excursion, but LOVED IT!

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We booked the 7 hour private luxury van tour with Skagway Private Tours. Sherry Corrington was great to work with and made sure we had a wonderful trip. Thank goodness my dil brought mosquito repellent wipes...Skagway has some huge ones! We had the most wonderful weather for our trip up the highway to Emerald Lake. We stopped a number of places along the route for photo ops, to see the Carcross Desert, and drink water from Bridal Veil Falls. We had lunch at a quaint little bistro in Carcross.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Ketchikan is a quaint little town. We decided to walk to a couple museums and do a bit of shopping. The museums were very good, not crowded. Creek Street was very crowded!

Victoria, British Columbia

Since our ship was here from 8 until 11:59, we decided to make a reservation at Quest Reality Games in Victoria. The lines to get off the ship were HUGE and the lines to get a cab were HUGE. We almost missed our Escape Room reservation! But Quest was very accommodating and we made it with a minute to spare and escaped from the room with a little over a minute to go. Our cab ride back to the port passed some beautiful and historic bldgs.

Disembarkation

We had prearranged our car service to the airport for 9:30 am, so we enjoyed one last breakfast in the restaurant before disembarking. /he procedure to get off the ship went very quickly and smoothly.
