Be prepared to spend more money on the ship than you have in the past. Especially, if you enjoy a cappuccino after dinner sushi at Tamarind Restaurant or any meal with lobster as an add on to your meal.

If you like a subdued cruises than HAL is for you. We knew going in that this was for a more seasoned cruiser but we didn’t realize the lack of things todo.

When they tell you that you need to be someplace at a certain time, expect to sit around and wait for them for at least 30 minutes.

Older crowd. If you want to swim in the pool, don’t go in February.

If you want something at the buffet and don't see it- ASK !! If you have a problem in the main dining room, ask for Marco.

Pray it gets better in buffet area and kitchen staff.

Get the cabana! Worth the money. The view is great, the staff is even better.

Be patient. The clientele is a bunch of old folks (like us) many of whom are in their late 60s to 80s and beyond. Lots of wheeled walkers throughout. The clientele as a rule is pretty mellow.

I would recommend Club Orange. It really upgrades your experience and is well worth the money.

Book excursions early

The forward balcony rooms have steel balcony railings meaning you can’t see the water through them. Not a huge deal but would prefer the plexiglass if given a choice

Had a number of problems with our have it all package. Couldn’t use our $100 excursion credit as all were full and they would only let one if use it towards our Bahamas villa we booked for $600. We found out last day that there were available places for those paying, just not for those with free excursion. Not cool. Also, anytime dining was more like no time dining. Had to book ahead for space and one dinner we booked for our group of 10, and were given a table for 8. We passed 2 tables for 10 with 2 people sitting at it. Discovered that those people dined at 5:30 seating and the two of them sat alone at table for 10 each night. Not as good as our MSC experience.

Book excursions early, get to know the staff, play pickle ball!

Be sure if you book a 14 day cruise that it does not return into port after 7 day then out again. You loose a day, must go through customs, wait in line and it is a complete inconvenience.

Don’t miss the Dutch Cafe. A special treat.
