This cruise was so much fun. The biggest reason would be because the ship staff was so wonderful. I was disappointed that we were not able to port in Amber Cove but it was for safety reasons(weather).

Nice & relaxing, quiet cruise. Definitely recommend it to anyone who isn’t interested in an overload of activities or a circus atmosphere

Great ship and great service! Just finished a two week cruise and it was the best one I have been on so far! Room was great sized and bed was best I have slept on after 8 cruises! Crowd was a bit older but that worked out to be a much more relaxing cruise than others I have been on! Loved it all!

Our original cruise got cancelled (Holland America cancelled that entire cruise, not sure why), our drink package did not transfer over, we received a HUGE bill @ the end of our cruise & we are NOT HAPPY. We also asked several bartenders on the ship if we had the drink package just to be sure since our original cruise was cancelled & they said we were fine, went to customer service & systems were down. If we had the drink package on our original cruise why would our travel agent not make sure it was on our 2nd? And why is Holland America not coming to our rescue?? And why do they overcharge so much for drinks that contain pretty much no alcohol? I'm so tired of hearing, "because they can". Holland America: do the right thing here!

Apart from the mistake we made shopping in Mexico, it was excellent..

We Cruised late Feb early March. The cruise was awesome. Weather perfect 80 degrees F, sunny and little to no wind. We loved the ship and all the activities. Just remember that this line skews to the older ages and not lots of excitement. It's a value cruise and you have lots of time to make payments if you sign up.

Entertainment was great; food was good; service was exceptional; accomadations very poor.

Loved this ship!!! Amazing experience for our first cruise! Beautiful ship and a relaxing atmosphere! Food was amazing! Our favorite thing to do was play chess while enjoying a glass of wine with a view!!

Overall the cruise was exactly what we wanted. A nice quiet ship to test the waters in many locations. We did not add alcohol to our trip and only did two shore excursions to make it an affordable long vacation. We'll go back to Bonaire & Curacao someday. And we'll cruise again with HAL again.

This was our first cruise, so I can't compare it to another cruise line or ship. We needed to relax, so the quiet was great. However, the boredom settled in quicker than we thought it would. I think Holland America is designed for a specific demographic and they do an amazing job catering to it. I can't say we didn't love the cruise. We just didn't LOVE the cruise.

The refurbishment of the ship definitely makes it a good Holland Choice with lots of areas for everyone to find something to do. The ports are coming back to life and we understand the catch 22 with actually being ready to receive the cruise ships and the "needing" to receive the cruise ships. Overall it did not affect our trip and we were happy to support those areas we visited.

enjoyable first time cruise on Holland America. Nice staff, great décor. A little disappointed in holiday decorations for Christmas week cruise.

The Nieuw Amsterdam management team is lacking on details, the staff are great and the ship is in good shape

We love HAL but will never visit the Bahamas again. Nassau was extremely boring and sketchy and Half Moon Cay was clearly owned by cruise ships so when we disembarked we were forced to either “enjoy” the cruise activities on shore or get right back on the ship and entertain ourselves. For the price, it was a sufficient cruise but in hindsight, we would never sail on this cruise again. We have every intention of returning to HAL for our next cruise though!

Disappointed overall with the cruise expected more with Holland America

Wonderful holidaday cruise!! The entire HAL team worked very well to deliver a very safe and efficient cruise. The ship was in very good condition and the food quality was very good! Activities on board need updating. Would recommend HAL for a cruise holiday. A more refined/older demographic makes for a calm experience- great lob HAL!!

Very nice cruise and would recommend to others. Holland America is a first class operation. We were taken care of very well. We will cruise Holland again.s

Nieuw Amsterdam is my least favorite Holland Ship. Very dead, little music. Dominican Republic is a beautiful country , but you must take excursions away from the port. Beaches and villages are worth the trip.

If I had it to do over, I would have picked a different cruise line. I was disappointed in this cruise, even before being admitted to the ship’s Hospital with a high fever. I received excellent care there!
