First cruise by baf42955

Didn't know what to expect since it was my first cruise, but I had a great time.  All of the ship's crew were very polite, helpful and went out of their way to make sure you had what you needed and having a good time.

fantastic food and service by gh98387

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I loved the meal and service, they were the best. I was on the Navigator of the Seas 5 years ago and loved walking around looking at the colors it had a rich look to it. The dress code was tie and coat for dinner and that was what I want to dress for dinner. Men in pants women in shorts tacky. I and some of the females thought it was  sexist. I was the youngest at the table The oldest female about 80. Most of the females at dinner should be in a skirt not shorts. shorts are not for dinner unless it is dress shorts below the knees. I can dress casual other ships. Dinner is an event to dress for.   The service was the best! The food was fantastic!.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

WE HAVE CRUISED NUMEROUS TIMES ON MULTIPLE CRUISE SHIPS AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY WE HAVE NEVER RECEIVED BETTER SERVICE ANYWHERE. THE ONBOARD SHOWS AND MUSIC WAS TOP NOTCH. THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THE GREAT FOOD IS THAT I GAINED 10 LBS.

first time cruising by tyweaver27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Truly amazing vacation, the ship, ports, entertainment, dining was all over the top. Overall the trip was awesome; two areas of improvement bar service/process and disembarking.

Bar service throughout the cruise was pretty slow. We even paid for the alcohol package and yet it was very slow. in the afternoon it took between 15-30 mins at the pool bar to get a drink (even just a coke or beer), and you couldn't get more than one at a time.

The only other negative was the disembarking process. I know RC has no control over customs and lines and such, but there are still several things that could have improved the process. staggered room leaving times, I know it was a quick turn around with a back to back cruise but I feel that we could have staggered this a big more. We were required to leave our room by 830am and we did not reach our vehicle at the dock until almost 1pm. This was hard to recover from and if never cruise again this will be the main reason.

The entertainment on board was awesome, better than could be expected.

Also we did 2 excursion through and they were both amazing. You don't miss out on anything by doing excursions outside of the cruise line; very professional and they will get you back to the boat ontime.

Again overall we had a wonderful experience and we did enjoy our time on board immensely.

service and food great by lsss45

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

toilet and shower somehow backed up and human waste came up , they fixed it fast , we traveled with 4 other couples and were told we could all sit together in dining room , first night we had a table for six and the other 2 couples were sitting at tables with strangers, they said we could not get a table for 10 so ended up one table of 6 another table for 4 but they were not close to each other.

I personally did not like seating in the theater it was like a movie theater carnival has a table for drinks in front of you and room to walk by without having everyone stand up,

one more pet peeve after 11 pm everything closes as far as food and ice cream go unless you want to pay for it

shows they had on board far surpass the carnival  cruises we had been on , a show every night

Nice cruise, but no better than Carnival. by wwojtaszek

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Stage entertainment was great! Loved Elton John tribute. Need more comedians at a reasonable hour, perhaps in their smaller venue.Promenade was very nice. Food was average. Prefer the custom omelets and pizza on Carnival. "Cafeteria"( Carnival disperses eating areas.) was crowded. Loved "indoor" hot tubs. Large front deck area could have been designated for adults, with amenities, like Carnival Majic.. Ice rink very nice feature. Bring something warm..Flowrider was cool, and rock wall for younger people is nice. Wish golf area was lit at night, Would be nice to golf in the evening. Minor problems were addressed quickly. Excellent service.Plenty of hot tubs.

Three sisters by wkeener

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My 3 sisters took this cruise because we had not done anything together ever ,we were raised like two families I was too young when they married so we thought this would be great since we were all getting up in years .

On the 1st night my porter had pulled down a bunk bed from the ceiling and I tried to sleep up high but could not do so at 5:30 am I went to customer service and told them I'll sleep on the floor before I sleep 7 nights in that bunk they told me they had a private room for me and moved me to it at once it was so much better since I didn't expect that kind of service a sofa bed is what I thought I would be getting but no they went above and beyond  .Big Smile

Great Crew and Ship by wadav3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Great Crew, and great ship. The food was good and so was the entertainment options. The cons are the ports in Cozumel (RCL need to upgrade their pier) and Galveston's terminal 2 ( I have been in nice bus terminals). The cruise was an awesome experience, and look forward to doing the same itinerary next year, but different ship.

RCL has more mature atmosphere on their ships, not the house party atmosphere Carnival has. Its a personal preference between the two.

Great times and wonderful memories! by smom614

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have traveled on Royal cruises before,  and once again, the ship is beautiful. I traveled with 11 family members and they all loved the experience. I do feel like the food and entertainment was not up to par from other cruises I have been on. If you're looking for a cruise that's not focused on "partying" then Royal is the way to go. One thing we said was when the band wasn't playing on the deck, they should have music playing out by the pools. They do have areas that are more quiet and relaxing where the music wouldn't bother anyone. The staff were great! My husband and I booked our next cruise already on the Allure!

Poor maintenance response by vandewyngard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was assigned to a cabin where the bathroom toilet was not operating correctly.  Some time the toilet did not flash, or there was no water, and others it overflow into the floor.  Each time maintenance fix it they did not clean it nor the floor.  i was moved to a different cabin and the issue with the toilet continued, I complained but did not asked for a different room as i expected they all were having issues in other rooms

The other bad experience I had in the cabin was the television, in both cabin was the same.  The TV remote did not operate properly, when the TV was off for extended period of time the remote did not turned the TV on.  At night when I was in bed and tried to turn it off, it did not work, I had to get up and turn it off from the back of the TV.  Maintenance and other personnel tried to fix the problem but never got solved.  This happened on both cabins I was in.  In addition, the guests at my dinner table had the same problem.

I had appointments that were not respected.  There were other issues which I reported and I also provided the solution like how to do the cleaning of the dining room table and chairs, placing limonite or flavor water of some sort by the 24-hor café, however they did not take action to have water by the pool, this was uncomfortable as the dining room with liquids at times it was closed

RCL's Navigator of the Seas; a worthwhile cruising vacation by CNYGrandma

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is beautiful, the size perfect; you can walk easily from one end to the other without being exhausted. All of the staff provided exemplary service. Food in the Sapphire Dining Room was always delicious. The buffet in Windjammer Cafe was good, but could have been a bit more varied in selections. We did not partake of any of the specialty restaurants. Entertainment was high quality. There were many different activities available. There was an outbreak of Noro Virus on board, but it was quickly contained and dealt with efficiently.

There were a couple of negatives. Boarding took too long, and disembarkation was a disaster. We will avoid the Galveston port for future cruises. It's too small to handle three thousand six hundred people getting off at the same time. We would also avoid going Easter week or spring break. Eleven hundred children were on board. Unruly children, obnoxious teenagers, and oblivious parents were tough to deal with and, at times, were a wet blanket on everyone's fun.

Our favorite cruise line is Celebrity. RCL came close, but the negatives above leaves them in second place for us. This was my ninth cruise and here is how I would rate them: Celebrity #1, RCL #2, Carnival #3, Norwegian #4, Princess 0 ( never to go on again)

Great ship! Port of Galveston is Horrible! by richardroberts7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Navigator of the Sea is awesome and the places we visited were great!  Just remember the shore excursion are cheaper if you book them yourself.  I would love to go on this ship again but probably won't because of the Port of Galveston it took us with U.S. passports 3 hrs to go through the line.  Made my whole outlook on the trip bad!

Navigator Cruise by sb328

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the cruise. The ship was beautiful and compared to a previous cruise we spent less time waiting on elevators. The overall service was excellent and employees very accommodating. There were more teenagers on this cruise which made the pool experience more limited and there were fewer English speaking customers. We considered going to the Casino several times but even walking through it was unpleasant because of the heavy smoke which I believe discourages non-smokers from using the Casino. I would recommend choosing excursions with the cruise line you are on. I scheduled an excursion on-line and we were unable to use it because the ship was in port from 7 to 3:15 and the excursion was at 1:00 which would have made it impossible to make it back to the ship on time. The second excursion that I arranged was cancelled when we got to the departure point because not enough people has signed up for it. Out of the three ports (Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel) we enjoyed the people and island of Jamaica the most. Overall this is our second cruise with Royal Caribbean and I would highly recommend it.

Great ports, bad service by rcp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was nice and clean. The ports we visited were amazing. The staff on the ship was rude especially in the bars. It would take forever to get waited on and even when waited on they were rude about it. The service in the dining room was the only good service we received. I did like the excursion we took in Jamaica, it was organized and easy to find. Overall I had a good time but I was expecting a lot friendlier service.

Great Food, ports are ok by peomuir

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food was great in the dining room and our balcony room was a nice size.  Grand Cayman has a beautiful beach but we could skip Jamaica.  Cozumel is good for shopping.  Overall a relaxing cruise and nice spring getaway.

Mixed Feelings by jimc18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Due to our unavoidable late arrival for departure, there were some last minute changes made of which we were not informed when we checked in.  Essentially, we did not get the cabin we were expecting but were upgraded for some unkown reason.  This created a lot of confusion upon boarding as to actual cabin # and then location of luggage.  The good news is that the cabin attendant was outstanding in resolving several issues for us.

Have cruised on this ship (different itemeary) and the dining experience has improved dramatically from just a year ago.  The main dinning room food quality and service was the best of any of our 8 cruises.  We have also done even more group land tours, and still think the food was exceptionally well prepared and presented.

We were disappointed that there was a big scale back in onboard activities that we were interested in.  This is a great cruise for kids and young adults, but as a Senior, I found very little of interest compared to other cruises.  The choices for shore excursions were also of no interest to us.  We like museums, history, cultural events etc and nothing was suitable for our tastes.  Dolphins and Diamonds and Watches are not our interest anymore.  The Night shows were of much lower caliber than our typical experience.  Also, this ship has discontinued the end of cruise singing by the cabin attendants and wait staff.  We always look forward to that.

Over 50% of the passengers were from Mexico with lot's of kids and we did enjoy trying to socialize, even though a language barrier sometimes existed.  It was also Spring Break, so probably I will be more careful in the future to avoid booking during that time.

We drove do the Galveston port and Kudo's for the folks there who efficiently handled our late arrival,  luggage,  and parking logistical issues.  The ship departure was much longer than usual however due to the high % of passengers with visa's.  US passport holders experienced a 2 hour wait to get to CBP once off the ship and in the departure terminal.

All things considered, we got our moneys worth, for what we rate as just an OK experience.

1st Cruise by ghousholder

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise and it was AMAZING!  My husband and I both suffer from motion sickness and neither one of us had a problem at all...so thankful!  The ship was beautiful, packed with activities, entertainment and wonderful food.  We were most impressed by the amazing staff!  They graciously waited on us hand and foot...the most relaxing vacation we have ever had.  We are already searching for our next cruise and we will be including the rest of our family.  Royal Caribbean runs a fantastic line of ships!  Highly recommend this to everyone!
