Great Cruise! by scaulfield

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I especially enjoyed the services of our Stateroom Attendant, Kelvin, and of the Sapphire Room Head Waiter and other Server, Noel and Julien.  Kelvin, Noel and Julien were extremely attentive to our needs. They were excellent.  The only minor issue is that the food could be served a tiny bit hotter.

Shiny Big Boat by tpeggy24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

When I took this cruise I didn't look at the UTube to see exactly how large a boat this is. And the 5,000 people there would be with me on this cruise/ Crowds everywhere/ waiting on lines forever for everything. Bathroom, venues, food. I won't go again on a boat this big. You lose something with these masses of people. The hosts are lovely. Food is OK. Not stellar, but edible. OK, maybe not upstairs with the masses on lines, but in the dining room certainly. The Waiters/ waitresses are lovely people. Crew are there smiling........

Group dinning by bdewwilson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Group of 24 was not seated together for main dinning. Two members were assigned to 4th floor. Two members were assigned to opposite side on the 3rd floor. The group was booked together and we expected to be seated for dinning together. This impacted our entire trip. Not sure if this was done my the booking agent or cruise line. So we will not use either next year for our family reunion.

Our family vacation by Photonerd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was excited to spend time with my husband and my 3 adult children(who have never been on a cruise before). The first issue I had was not being able to get two balcony rooms next to each other(which I would highly recommend). So we didn't hang out on the balcony since one balcony was too small for all 5 of us. We left FL and it was windy and the boat was rocky. Do to a storm in Bahamas we couldn't go to Coco Cay. So our first day was at Sea. To my surprise they decided to stop at Costa Maya in Mexico on Tuesday. This turned out to be our favorite stop of the trip. We went to the beach, used kayaks, snorkeled and relaxed on the beach. It was a great. the next day we went to Cozumel. We had booked a private jeep tour which turned out great. The next day we went to Grand Cayman. We weren't docked there and we didn't book an excursion through royal Caribbean so I had to stand in line at 8am to get a number to get off the boat. We had booked an excursion on our own so we ended up being late to it. Since we didn't get off the boat until 11. Then we had to be back a the port by 4:15 to get back on the transfer book. It was stressful and a hassle due to the teethering. Grand Cayman beach was beautiful and the water very clean and nice. I would go back to Grand Cayman but go to the non tourist side. Overrall it was a fun vacation. The best part was just being with my family.

Wonderful People by Cruiser242

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed our cruise, but would fault the cruise line for not always having good communication between the passengers and the staff.

On one day all the snorkeling trips were canceled.  We had six people booked on a trip, but did not hear from the shore excursion people, but from other passengers.

When you tried to call the front desk or the operator, it took a very long time for someone to answer and sometimes no one picked up the phone.

The My Time dinning was not very accommodating, they said it was because we were a party of 7, that we could choose between 5:45 or 8:00.  Not very good choices.

All the staff were kind and helpful.

Don't know if it was the cruise line or the luggage people's fault but several of our suitcases were soaked through when we received them.  It was a very rainy day, but surely they could have put the luggage under some sort of cover.

Overall, had a great time. by SaintNick40

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My family and I have been on cruises before and overall we had a good time.  Some things could have been better as far as more exciting entertainment.  Our dining wait staff (Chalton in particular) were excellent, professional and we could tell that they really enjoyed their jobs. A couple of other things that should have been more organized was getting off the ship at Grand Cayman Islands.  We didn't get off the ship until about 1pm and had to return to the ship by 4:15pm (that was the last departing tender).  No one stated that we needed tickets to get off the ship and because we didn't have tickets, we had to wait.  That was very disappointing.  Also, my mom was not happy with her room because there was to be a pull out sofa not a bunk from the ceiling.  When she called guest services, the staff (Oscar) told her "You get what you pay for".  What we paid for was not to have some jerk talk to my mom in that manner and what we paid for was expensive.  But, my family enjoyed our time together over the Thanksgiving 2015 holiday.  We had fun, laughs and more laughs.  Oh yeah, shout outs to Ron from Jamaica (Bar staff)!  He really made our trip fun. And shout out to Dwayne (room attendant). He was great!  I would take another cruise on Navigator of the Seas, it was a great ship and really clean.  Just need to be a little bit more organized when tendering to ports. Big Smile

OK, but Good by kimassey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ft. Lauderdale is a great port, convenient to airport, hotel, & port.  This ship has seen better days.  It seemed old.  The crew was very nice & helpful.  Loved the wait staff and porters, very helpful.  Food was just ok.  Shows were just ok, except for Joel Mason & he was FABULOUS!!!!!  Cozumel and Grand Caymen were fine.  We didn't even get to go to CoCo Cay, which was our whole reason for this cruise!

My husband loves CoCo Cay!!!!!

The mature crowd by Patricia50

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was full of mostly retired and elderly people. The night life closed down around midnight. I liked that we could take a bottle of wine aboard but I was disappointed about the water. However, once aboard I discovered that I could have brought bottled water. There was not a lot of picture taking and the prices was really high. The staff was really nice. I recommend this cruise if you are not looking for a busy night life.

Underwhelmed by jami870

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My experience with Cruises Only was delightful!  It was Royal Caribbean that just left us wanting more. We are experienced cruisers, this was our first trip w/ Royal.  I have learned since and need to disclose that we were on the 2nd cruise after relocating the ship, the weather was challenging and the USCG boarded us for an annual inspection at one of our ports.  This crew had their hands full!  The service staff was very kind and efficient.  The officers of the ship couldn't be bothered, even after we paid $300 to participate in the all access tour, the Captain no showed.  Spa was great.  Specialty restaurants are all wonderful; the reservation process was bumpy, we received calls w/ contradicting times and confirmations again and again.  We had a balcony room but the balcony was so filthy we just wrote phrases in the grime because we couldn't see thru the glass.  Major disappointment.  The inside of the ship was immaculate, we are used to crews cleaning exterior balcony throughout the cruise, not once in 8 days. Shore excursions... I walked on to the ship w/ EVERYTHING booked; photos, spa, excursions, restaurants, etc.  I thought this would be helpful but was a waste of time, once I boarded all arrangements were rescheduled, canceled, etc.  plus better deals were available on the ship then online.  What I thought was a time saver became extra work.  Boarding was awful also, we waited hours to get on the ship, many in the pouring rain, soaked luggage arrived late the first night :(  Underwhelmed for sure.  We will cruise again but we will skip Royal.  Haven't even mentioned how first time cruisers w/ Royal are treated like subclass citizens with obnoxious pref treatment for returning members, how do they expect to retain people?

Ok, but not great by LWTX

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Cabin, cruise staff (except Director), dining room food all met expectations. Below expectations were the "headliner" shows, often a comic with a 45-minute routine, one night w/ no show; and the Windjammer Cafe (buffet) lacked timely service or day-to-day variety.  Very disappointing were the background and pre-show music - more electronic rap and hard rock - very intrusive w/ heavy base;  and the seemingly constant marketing including in room "messages" that were nothing but RCCL ads/promotions.

Long Lines! by thegiris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The only problem we had was getting on the ship at the very beginning.  Stood in line for what seemed like forever before we were allowed in the building!  Once we got aboard, we had a great cruise!  Room was perfect, food was great!  Staff was very attentive and friendly.

Experienced cruisers with first time travellers - frustration at start but ok afterwards by Apples4rent

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As experienced cruisers, we built up the RC cruise to the in-laws as an experience not to be missed. After spending 3.5 hours in line to get on the ship, they were exhausted and in no mood to be impressed. It was embarrassing for me considering how much I bragged on RC and how efficient it is. Luckily, their state room and on-board experience was their first vacation in literally 20 years so they did not have anything to compare the experience to. Since we travel abroad often, all of the missing "little things" were very noticeable to us and it was not an impressive cruise. Hopefully, we will convince them to go on another cruise with us in the future, but it wont be on the Navigator of the Seas.

A few items in no particular order :

Safe not working for 3 days

No hot water in shower for 3 days

Charged for minibar items that were not used

Lost luggage between boarding and room

Windjammer buffet - ok but nothing special

         Sapphire dining - excellent

Room staff unseen - left notes for repairs and had to call maintenance ourselves and had to stand in room for hours waiting for them to show up. Reminded me of waiting for the cable guy.

Constantly a line of at least 8 people at the customer service desk. Literally the entire cruise we never walked by the customer service desk without a line being there. Personally stood in line at least 4 times adding up to hours of wasted time.

As RC gold members, we are not supposed to be required to attend the ridiculous safety drill, but had to for this one. * edit * (it has been pointed out to me that this drill is mandatory for all passengers. All I can say is that on our last two cruises we were not required to attend due to previous cruise experience)

Overall, the cruise was not terrible, but I am sure that isn't the review rating that RC was aiming for when they charged me for the cruise. We have been on many cruise lines and still seem to prefer RC, even though the cost is a little more. Sadly though, one more cruise like this one and we will be looking for a different line.

Bad beginning Good ending by blanchedissis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Bad beginning to a cruise - Navigator of the Seas. The boarding of the ship was terrible.  It was pouring rain and the only shelter we had was tarps that leaked while we waited in line. The handicapped and people with babies in carriages  were not even considered. Very bad planning.  When our luggage arrived our clothes were wet and we had to hang our clothes in the bathroom and all over to dry.  Royal Carribbean is our favorite line and we never experienced this before. When we finally got inside it was very disorganized.  Also, The jacuzzi in the spa needs to be maintained better.... Mold all around the edges.

The ship is lovely and employees were good especially in the main dining rooms, The entertainment was good as well.  Take better care of your passengers.

Good Trip overall by kmiller55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Very poor start, (see below) but the great service from the crew made up for it.  Our cabin steward took very good care of us, even making sure we had ice when we needed it. The dining staff was welcoming and handled all our needs.  We had the early dinner and we did feel a little rushed. Bartender did an excellent job and had our chosen drinks on the table as we arrived.  Enjoyable trip,

Bad Start, good End by therealpoohmoss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The start of the cruise was a nightmare.  We had to wait outside the terminal in the sun for 1.5 hours, then they finally allowed us to enter the terminal whereupon we had to wait for another hour.  We finally got onto the ship, but didn't get our luggage until 10PM.  When we opened it we discovered that it was wet!  It looked like it had been left lying in a muddy puddle!  We went to the guest services to complain and they finally agreed to wash them for us.  It was supposed to take less than one day but it took three days and when the clothes came back they were still dirty and still a little bit wet.  I think that all they did was hang them up to air dry, not actually wash and dry them.  By this time we were furious (no clothes to wear on the cruise) and complained again.  This time they did wash them (in one day). They told us it was not their fault, that the port facility had a power failure that caused all of the delays and left the suitcases outside a rain storm, but that doesn't account for the fact that the clothes weren't cleaned the first time as promised, and it took four days to get them cleaned.  In the end they gave us a 20% off coupon toward another cruise and a couples massage. The cruise itself was great.  The ship was the most beautiful we have been on during a total of 16 cruises with three companies. They really didn't hold back when designing and decorating this ship. The attractions (Flow Rider, ice show, climbing wall, pools and hot tubs) were great.  The food was excellent.   The waiter service at our table was superb (second to none).  They treated us like kings.  Unlike the embarkation, the debarkation was very efficient.  Despite all the problems, it was a great cruise.

The stops were great but the embarcation and disembarcation was a huge chaos. We have a little daugther 2 years old and had to wait a line for 3 hours. No activities for children under 3 years. It´s a cruise designed for old people...

Good once we got going by dcrimarco

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Unfortunately for us there was a problem with getting on broad, they had no electricity. Also there seemed to be a lack of people to push wheelchairs. So boarding was difficult. Once underway the cruise was enjoyable. Most of the staff were helpful. The entertainment was excellent. There were lots of things to do while onboard,. shopping, eating, exercising, going to the spa, to name a few. going into Cozumel was enjoyable. I am happy I was able to see it.

The stateroom was kept clean. Overall the cruise was positive experience.

Unfortunately getting of the ship was also a bit much. We went to the room were to be in yet no member of the crew was present, when they eventually showed up they didn't seem to know what was going on, one lady in particular was unhelpful and again there did not have enough people to push wheelchairs.
