I was on Divina in... by Hooper1031

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

I was on Divina in 2016 and I'm booked again July 22. Staff was nice at least all I encountered. Food options for a non meat eater. Room was clean. Like any ship tip room service and for the most part you shouldn't problems. I recommend MSC over ROYAL Caribbean.

MSC Divina Bed Bugs by MiamiCruiser100

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We are family of 4 took MSC Divina cruise on 08/13-08/20 and it turned out to be the most disgusting experiences of our traveling history. The cabin had a strong urine smell and was bed bugs infested. Due to bed bugs infestation my family was bitten with me being the worst case, I had over 50 bites on my hands, arms, neck and back. They became swollen and looked repulsive.Spending a cruise in a bed bugs infested cabin is not my idea of family vacation. We even saw live bed bug crawling on our bed and took picture. It was brought to the customer service attention on the cruise and after bed bugs infestation was confirmed by MSC staff we were moved to a another cabin on 5th day of our cruise, after packing all our belongings and sending most of our clothes to laundry service. The rest of the cruise we spent itching and terrified of bringing bed bugs with us to new cabin and then home. The entire cruise became a bed bugs nightmare due to MSC Cruise line inability to maintain clean and healthy environment for its passengers. We were unable to resolve this with ship's customer service as they referred to bed bugs infested cabin as inconvenience and apologized for it. Bed bugs in your bed is not inconvenience, it's a disgusting, filthy  disaster, not to mention a serious health hazard. If you ever have to spend your vacation with bed bugs ( I hope you don't and one way of avoiding that would be NOT purchasing MSC Cruise) you would understand the frustration. On the ship we were advised to contact MSC post cruise customer service for the resolution. I sent them an email on August 21st 2016 , but no response. I sent a second email on August 23rd 2016.On October 17th we finally received a letter from MSC customer service representative Mr. Michael Gold with a letter stating MSC Cruise line sincerely regrets that we had bed bugs and release form with 50% future cruise credit certificate offer. Future cruise, Mr. Gold? With Bed Bugs? Really? I don't think so. Dear cruisers don't go through what we went through. Choose another cruise line.

Beautiful Experience, loved the food by Dianefirstcruis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Many seem to agree that the ship is beautiful and that the rooms are nice.  I agree.  Unlike many of the reviews  that I read before leaving, I found the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful.  I thought that there was a nice variety of tasty and fresh food. When I read reviews before leaving, I had the impression that all they served was pizza and burgers which is not true.  They do serve pizza and burgers, and they are very good.

For our 1st cruise, I... by bethanyrenea

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

For our 1st cruise, I couldn't have been happier than with this ship. We had great service and thought everything was wonderful. Our 1st trip on this ship was our favorite. The food was great, as well. The pools were very overcrowded but I didn't hang out there much anyways because of such. We liked it enough the 1st trip to do a 2nd.

Great for a honeymoon or... by CommanderB

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Great for a honeymoon or romantic trip. Upscale decor put off a few other Americans but we loved it! Wish there were more ships as classy as Divina. Only complaint was that the buffet was ALWAYS packed. Rarely found a place to sit down.

First cruise by jvinny1976

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina

Beautiful ship! We did not enjoy all of the evening shows and did not like how all of the pools closed so early. I would not sail MSC again but still loved the cruise. It just didn’t fit our style. Food was fantastic however and the ship was stunning!

Operations feel like they are run by teh Three Stooges by SeasonedCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Food was excellent, entertainment in the main theater the best I have ever seen (and I have taken 47 cruises) staff were very nice, and the ship is perfectly maintained, but operations are mass chaos. I was confirmed for Late Seating for dinner; assigned to  Early upon arrival. No changes available,. Could not register for the cruise until you had a cabin assignment - got my cabin assigned  the day before the cruise and registration was closed,  They ran out of pool towels each morning. No facecloths in cabin unless you asked. No organized lines at buffet - people coming form all directions and cutting in front of you. Same with all lines for anything.  Asked to put a postcard to the U.S. with the stamp already on it into the mailbag for Miami and was told all mail has a $3.00 handling charge piece. You are charged $20.00 for lobster and $30.00 for prime rib in the main restaurant while other ships serve it free on Captain's Dinner night. Life boat drill very chaotic - I would hate to see this ship in a real emergency.  You show up for events (deck party, etc.) and it has had the time changed or been moved with no notice.  This cruise line is not one I would recommend to others. After this 3 day "test" of MSC, we cancelled a 10-day booking in Europe for next spring.

Great Value by kdlovescruising

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I sailed on the Divina on the 3 night Bahamas cruise for 4th of July and had a good time.  My family and I enjoyed ourselves and really had no major complaints.  The ship is beautiful and kept very clean.  I was disappointed in some of the crew/staff interactions.  They are not nearly as friendly as the crew on other ships I've sailed (Carnival, Royal Caribbean, NCL).  Not many smiling faces, they appeared "aloof". Bar service was slow at times.  I loved that at night they had live music playing in all the lounges.  The disco was also great, the DJ kept the dance floor full.  The food in the buffet was better than I expected.  My only complaint regarding the buffet was that the tables weren't cleared timely.  Dinner in the MDR was good.  The portions were small but that was fine with me.  Didn't leave the dining room overly stuffed.  The desserts were delicious.

The photo area needs to be upgraded to the portfolio system used on other cruise lines as this would eliminate the frustrating task of looking for your pictures. The casino area is smaller than expected for a large ship.  They're were also no Craps tables.

This was only a 3 night cruise but would be willing to try it for a 7 night sailing.

Little vacations by miguelnieto

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was my first time on the MSC cruise and at the beginning I was so impressive everything is beautiful but I didn't like 2 things: 1.- If you want to buy only 1 package of unlimited of beverage is not possible, you have to buy for a cople, I don't drink. 2.- First day the food was so delicious but the 2nd and the last day was like reheat all the food. Surprised

Babies with diapers in the pools- EWWWW!!! by EnigmaPDX

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Children in the pools and hot tubs is bad enough, but when they are babies in diapers and when pool personnel are informed they say it is okay, that is way to much. I have been on several other cruise lines and never seen this in the full sized pools, kiddie wading areas yes. Babies should not ever be in a hot tub - EVER! If the parents are ignorant of this fact, pool personnel should inform them.

Buffet - Food is not rotated and goes bad and tables not thoroughly cleaned

No urinals in Mens Restrooms - Seats not lifted and was a mess consistently

Room Steward - Rarely available, did not clean well (drew a heart in steam of bathroom mirror and it was there days later), had to call for towels on 2 occasions.

No trashcans, except staterooms and restrooms. Trash was seen all over the ship just tossed down wherever.

Issues with purchased photo package - 10 (8X10) photos included, but they print all your best pictures huge and expect you to pay $30 each for them. After contacting a manager with were given an exception, but only would print in color, not B/W or Sepia.

Gelato bar - Had 14 flavors listed, same 8 every day, and every day I asked if they would have a different flavor and was told "Tomorrow", tomorrow never came.

Reasons for 2nd Star:

Ship was pretty, atrium staircase phenomenal and pictures do not do it justice.

Main Dining Rooms (Eat ALL your meals here) - They are open for Breakfast and Lunch - Food excellent - very small portions (order more than 1 entree if you are hungry). had to keep on servers to bring ordered items at times (i.e. milk, toast, side orders)

Desserts - Heavenly!

Ship staff were friendly and approachable, not always easy to talk in English with.

I would never intentionally book another cruise with MSC, unless I am assured sanitation issues have been addressed.

Originally reviewed this ship in June of last year but with the update it wiped my ratings. I absolutely love this ship. The staff were so accommodating and made the trip even more enjoyable. We met many new people and are looking to travel with them again this June in the Divina. The ship is clean, elegant, and never felt crowded.

Great Value, Unique Offerings by FredCFL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Just returned from Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Divina and thought that I would give my input. I should mention that this was my first MSC cruise and the first cruise on a large ship (almost all our cruises have been on Holland America, which we thoroughly enjoyed). First of all, the ship is beautiful and well laid out. Only quirk was not being able to get to the Villa Rosa dining room on deck 6 from anywhere else on that deck without going to another deck. The ship is very well cleaned and maintained.

We had a balcony cabin that was roomy enough. The sliding rather than swing door to the balcony is a good feature. Storage is sufficient and lighting is good except that all lights go on when all that you want is to see in the closet which is inconvenient if someone else is in bed.

The food: The buffet food is very good, a lot of variety including ethnic specialties (not just Italian, but that is definitely there), and arranged so lines are not too long even on a rainy sea day. The food in the main dining rooms is also very good . Portions may be a little smaller than I have had on other ships, but multiple servings are available without problems and you don't have to walk away being uncomfortably over stuffed. We did not eat in any of the specialty restaurants except for the pizza at La Cantina del Bacco which was possibly the best pizza I have ever had and that includes New York City and Italy. We had the Margarita de Buffalo, and at $13.00 for a 12" pie it is a bargain. The same location gives you complimentary appetizers when you order drinks. By the way, drink prices are reasonable and a range of package deals are available. We opted for the 18 coupon book that comes to about $5/drink for any non-premium drink, including service charge.

Staff is friendly and accommodating. Cabin staff are not as present as we are used to but rooms are well attended to. Wait staff in bars and dining rooms are attentive and friendly, remembering your preferences. My only issue is that many do have a language problem which is especially an issue with those dealing directly like bartenders and reception desk.

Entertainment is excellent and varied, including an afternoon opera. There are a wide range of activities. Smoking is limited to a cigar lounge and one side of the pool area.

Overall, MSC is a good value and we would definitely go on it again.

This is the most beautiful... by natashacormier

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

This is the most beautiful and clean ship I’ve ever seen. The Divina feels much more elegant than other cruise lines. Pizza is very good and the shows, especially the Michael Jackson show, are great quality. I wish they had comedy shows though as I feel that was the biggest lack the Divina has. There at times can be a language barrier between staff and guests and guests with other guests because they are so popular internationally. However, this wasn’t a big problem at all. Just expect that you might sometimes need to find another person if you have a question. Staff were extremely polite. The vouchers for drinks and the prices really put MSC above other cruise lines for those on a budget wanting good quality.

Great Ship and Vacation Experience by Tripqueen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall MSC was a pleasant surprise. I say that because this was my first time cruising with them and I did not know what to expect. The ship itself is beautiful and the staff was a pleasure to have around. They had some of the best entertainment and I am looking forward to trying the newer ship seaside in the future.

Wonderful! by Akron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first cruise and it was a wonderful experience!  The ship was absolutely beautiful and clean.  The shows, entertainment provided throughout the cruise, and the Entertainment Team were phenomenal.  So much talent!  The food in the dining room was much better than on the buffet.  Henry from Honduras was my waiter  and Maradonna was his assistant.  Both of them were so professional, accommodating and friendly.   I would highly recommend the MSC Divina.
